The Freedom Museum (Dutch: Vrijheidsmuseum), until September 2019 National Liberation Museum 1944-1945, is a museum in Groesbeek, the museum is about the liberation of the Netherlands at the end of World War II. The museum is located in Groesbeek, close to the German border. The structure shaped like a parachute was built in remembrance of the Rhineland Offensive (Operation Veritable, Operation Grenade, Operation Blockbuster, Operation Plunder and Operation Varsity) and of the Airdrop of thousands of allied paratroopers on the fields in Groesbeek during Operation Market Garden.

Berg en Dal (literally in English: Mountain and Valley) is a municipality in the eastern Netherlands, in the province of Gelderland. It was formed through a merger of the municipalities of Groesbeek, Millingen aan de Rijn and Ubbergen in 2015. The resulting larger municipality maintained the name of Groesbeek until 2016, when it was renamed to Berg en Dal after the village of Berg en Dal.Berg en Dal has about 34,714 inhabitants and covers an area of about 93 km². The municipality borders in the north on the Waal river and the Bijlands Kanaal, in the east on the German forest of the Reichswald, in the south on the province of Limburg, in the southwest on the forest of the Mookerheide (also Limburg), and in the west on the city of Nijmegen. Berg en Dal is slightly hilly with altitudes reaching the 75 meters, like the Duivelsberg. The International Four Days Marches Nijmegen crosses the municipality on the 3rd day (Day of Groesbeek).

It is politically significant, however, because Duivelsberg is the only part of the Netherlands that was both annexed from Germany and retained after World War II.

The Africa Museum (Dutch: Afrika Museum) is a museum in Berg en Dal in the Netherlands. The museum on the outskirts of the city of Nijmegen is a complex with indoor as well as open-air display areas, covering art, culture, music, photographs, videos and architecture of Africa. As of 2014, the museum, along with the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam, and National Museum of Ethnology (Museum Volkenkunde) in Leiden, together make up the National Museum of World Cultures.

Heikant is a former hamlet in the municipality of Berg en Dal, in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It was located about 3 km northeast of Groesbeek, on the German border. According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, Heikant (or "De Heikant") consisted of 44 houses and had a population of 140 in the middle of the 19th century.

Breedeweg is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Berg en Dal, about 1 km south of Groesbeek.It was first mentioned in 1899 as Breedeweg, and means "wide road". The St. Antonius Church was built in 1934, and destroyed in 1944 during Operation Market Garden. In 1949, the church was rebuilt, and a monument has been erected for the dead allied soldiers and the two civilians who were killed by a grenade while cleaning up the debris.Breedeweg and Groesbeek have been expanding, and are now close to one-another. In the late 2010s, the municipality changed the place name sign to "Groesbeek Breedeweg". Nevertheless, it is still a separate village and not annexed.
