Ljanselva

Gjersjøelva (former Hvitebjørnselva) is a river in the municipality of Oppegård in Akershus county, Norway. It flows from Gjersjøen and mouth into Bunnefjorden near Hvervenbukta, a total fall of 40 metres (130 ft). The last part of the river forms the border between Akershus and Oslo. Gjersjøelva had one of the first saw mills in Norway, from the 16th century.

Ljan Church (Norwegian: Ljan kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the district of Nordstrand in Oslo, Norway. The church was consecrated on 10 April 1932 and is shrouded by pine trees on a hill. Later a parish center was built just below. The architectural style is neo-Romanesque and medieval inspired. There are no signs of modernism. The architect was Olav Olson (1879-1945).It is a relatively small church in stone. The church tower is at the entrance. The choir is narrow. It has two sacristies. The roof is covered with copper plates. Sculptor Trygve Dammen (1900-1973) made the pulpit and baptismal font, a wooden sculpture and created wooden sculptures under the ceiling. There are stained glass in all the windows, composed by artist Rolf Klemetsrud (1900-1956). Wrought Iron works in windows and altar ring is by Karl Bilgrei (1898-1990). The crucifix over the main entrance is made by Halfdan Davidsen. The two church bells are made by Olsen Nauen Bell Foundry in Tønsberg.Ljan Church is listed as protected by the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage.

Hvervenbukta is a swimming and recreation area southeast of the city center of Oslo, Norway, located at the shores of Bunnefjorden in the borough of Søndre Nordstrand, and not far from Ljan and Holmlia. The area originally belonged to Ljan mansion. The main building here was from 1765, and burned down in 1913. Former Aker municipality took over the properties in 1937. Some of the remaining buildings in the area is now used by artists and artisans. The site has one of Oslo's most popular beaches, with swimming opportunities along the sandy beach and from the rocks along the fjord. The bathing area in Hvervenbukta has a terrace café and kiosk, toilets and outhouse, picnic tables, showers and drinking-water units. The place is usable for disabled and has a lifeguard during the summer months.In Hvervenbukta there is also a campsite.

Katten is a municipal beach in Bunnefjorden in the Nordstrand area in Oslo, Norway. The beach is suitable for children and comprises a sheltered, sandy beach, rocks and grassy hills. There are diving boards, swimming ladders, tables and benches, toilets, showers, drinking water and a kiosk.There are very limited parking facilities, but there is a bus stop on Mosseveien right by. In the summer months there is also a separate "bathing bus" (busline no. 87). There is also a footpath downhill to Katten from Ljan Station.

Ljan Station (Norwegian: Ljan stasjon) is a railway station on the Østfold Line. It is located in the Ljan neighborhood in the Nordstrand borough of Oslo, Norway. Situated 7.15 kilometers (4.44 mi) from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), it features two side platforms. Hauketo is served by the Line L2 of the Oslo Commuter Rail, providing two services each hour. The station was one of the original stations on the Østfold Line, and opened on 2 January 1879. The original station was designed by Peter Andreas Blix. Commuter trains started running to Ljan in 1883, and had for many years the station as their terminus. The line through Ljan was moved during the 1920 and converted to double track. Ljan Station received a new station building in 1923, designed in Neoclassic by Gerhard Fischer, including an underpass with entrances. The station is listed as a cultural heritage site.

Ulvøya is an inhabited island in the inner part of Oslofjord, in the municipality of Oslo. It is located east of the island Malmøya and west of the mainland at Nordstrand. A bridge over the strait Ulvøysundet connects the island to the mainland. The island covers an area of 0.3 square kilometres (0.12 sq mi).

Malmøya og Malmøykalven Nature Reserve is a nature reserve established in 2008 in the municipality of Oslo, Norway. The nature reserve consists of parts of the island of Malmøya, the island of Malmøykalven, and a water zone which includes the skerries of Malmøyskjær and Hertugskjær. It covers an area of about 0.509 km², of which 0.274 km² is land area. The nature reserve contains geological locations with scientifically important fossils from Cambrian and Silurian, particular vegetation types, and is an important nesting site for seabirds.

Ljan (Norwegian pronunciation: [jɑːn]) is a residential neighborhood in the borough Nordstrand in Oslo, Norway. It is located in the eastern rolling hillsides of the fjord Bunnefjorden. To the south Ljanselva which begins at Lutvann has its mouth, and where it runs through Liadalen at Ljan it also constitutes the border with borough Søndre Nordstrand. The number of inhabitants was about 3,500 in 2004. Ljan Church is known as one of the very few churches in Norway that was built in the 1930s in the Romanesque Revival style. The public beaches at Ljan are Hvervenbukta, Ljansbadet and Katten, and in addition there are a number of private bath houses along Mosseveien. The borders to the north and east are less obvious and drawn between the school circuits Ljan and Nordstrand. The name originates with an Old Norse river name Ljǫrn but the meaning has been lost to time.

Malmøya is an island 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of Oslo Central Station. Oslo, the capital of Norway. The island is mostly known for its large quantities of fossils from the Cambro-Silurian period and its rare flowers. The name Malmøya is derived from 'malm', or 'ore', due to the extensive amount found on the island.

Nordstrand Station (Norwegian: Nordstrand stasjon) is a railway station on the Østfold Line. It is located in the Nordstrand borough of Oslo, Norway. Situated 5.95 kilometers (3.70 mi) from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), it features an island platform. Nordstrand is served by the Line L2 of the Oslo Commuter Rail, providing two services each hour. The station opened on 31 May 1880, a year after the Østfold Line. The station allowed the area to be opened up for residences and commuting. As traffic grew, a station building was erected around 1895. The station and line past the station was upgraded during the 1920. The station has been unstaffed since 1970. It was the site of the Nordstrand Accident on 3 October 1993.

Malmøykalven is an island in the Oslofjord in Oslo, Norway. It has an area of 98,000 m2, and is located west of the island of Malmøya, separated from Malmøya by a narrow strait. Malmøykalven is included in the Malmøya og Malmøykalven Nature Reserve, which was established in 2008.

Ormøy Church is a church on the island of Ormøya in Oslo, Norway. It was built of wood in 1893 and has 200 seats. The church is listed by the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage. The architectural drawings was made by the German architect Bernhard Steckmest and built in a log technique, characterized by gothic and Swiss chalet style. The outer walls are painted red, while the interior is stained brown and oiled. The pictures of the Four Evangelists are recessed in the pulpit and was painted by Trygve Torkildsen. The small church organ was made in 1924. On the night of September 19, 1992, the church was set on fire, but a quick reaction from a watchman prevented the church from burning down.
