Ljan Station

Ljan Church (Norwegian: Ljan kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the district of Nordstrand in Oslo, Norway. The church was consecrated on 10 April 1932 and is shrouded by pine trees on a hill. Later a parish center was built just below. The architectural style is neo-Romanesque and medieval inspired. There are no signs of modernism. The architect was Olav Olson (1879-1945).It is a relatively small church in stone. The church tower is at the entrance. The choir is narrow. It has two sacristies. The roof is covered with copper plates. Sculptor Trygve Dammen (1900-1973) made the pulpit and baptismal font, a wooden sculpture and created wooden sculptures under the ceiling. There are stained glass in all the windows, composed by artist Rolf Klemetsrud (1900-1956). Wrought Iron works in windows and altar ring is by Karl Bilgrei (1898-1990). The crucifix over the main entrance is made by Halfdan Davidsen. The two church bells are made by Olsen Nauen Bell Foundry in Tønsberg.Ljan Church is listed as protected by the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage.

Nordstrand Station (Norwegian: Nordstrand stasjon) is a railway station on the Østfold Line. It is located in the Nordstrand borough of Oslo, Norway. Situated 5.95 kilometers (3.70 mi) from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), it features an island platform. Nordstrand is served by the Line L2 of the Oslo Commuter Rail, providing two services each hour. The station opened on 31 May 1880, a year after the Østfold Line. The station allowed the area to be opened up for residences and commuting. As traffic grew, a station building was erected around 1895. The station and line past the station was upgraded during the 1920. The station has been unstaffed since 1970. It was the site of the Nordstrand Accident on 3 October 1993.

Sæter is a light rail tram stop on the Oslo Tramway. Located at Nordstrand, it was the terminus of the Ekeberg Line when it was opened in 1917 by AS Ekebergbanen in cooperation with Kristiania Sporveisselskab. In 1941 the Ekeberg Line was extended to Ljabru, the current terminus. Until 1967, the stretch between Sæter and Ljabru was the only single track rail in Oslo.Sæter is a key word in John Buchan's novel "The Three Hostages".

Ljabru is a light rail tram stop on the Oslo Tramway. Located at Ljabru in Nordstrand, it is the current terminus of the Ekeberg Line. It was opened on 17 September 1941 as an extension of that line from Sæter. Until 1967, the stretch between Sæter and Ljabru was the only single track rail in Oslo. A bridge that is located between Ljabru and Sæter was still single track until it was expanded in 2014. This was the last part of the tramway network to be upgraded to double track.

Bråten is a tram stop on the Oslo Tramway. It is located at Bråten in Nordstrand and it was opened on 11 June 1917, as part of the Ekeberg Line to Sæter. There is a balloon loop just after the station. The SL18 trams were tested between Skøyen tram stop and Bråten, in early 2022 as part of Line 13. The section between Sørli tram stop and Bråten was upgraded in 2012, and Bråten itself was upgraded in 2013.

Nordstrand (pronounced [ˈnûːʂʈrɑn]) is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. It borders Gamle Oslo in the north, Østensjø in the east and Søndre Nordstrand in the south. The borough is located in the southern part of the city and with a population of 52,459 people as of 2020. In 2004, Nordstrand was merged with two other boroughs, Lambertseter and Ekeberg-Bekkelaget, to form what is today known simply as Nordstrand. First and second generation immigrants make up 14.6% of the population, which is the lowest percentage in the entire city.The borough is named after a house named Nordstranden, located at Mosseveien 196. Nordstrand is one of the wealthiest boroughs in Oslo, and net incomes, real estate prices, and life expectancy are among the city's highest. In demographic statistics Oslo is usually divided into an eastern and a western part. As Nordstrand differs significantly from its bordering boroughs, it is often considered as belonging to the western part even though it is geographically located in the eastern part. Solveien, Nordstrand's most famous road, has been one of Oslo's most expensive addresses since the early 20th century. Ljabru is a hill and neighborhood in the borough of Nordstrand in Oslo, Norway. It is mainly a residential area with detached housing as well as larger blocks. It is served by the Ekeberg Line terminal station Ljabru. It is located south of Nordstrand, east of Ljan, west of Mortensrud and north of Hauketo.

Ljanselva is a river in Oslo, Norway. It flows from Lutvann and Nøklevann and mouth into Bunnefjorden at Fiskevollbukta. Several saw mills were located along Ljanselva. The lower part of the river is a protected cultural site.

Kastellet is a light rail tram stop on the Oslo Tramway. Located at Kastellet in Nordstrand, the station is situated between Sørli and Bråten. It was opened on 11 June 1917. It is served by lines 13 and 19 and is served by both SL79 and SL95 trams. There is also a bus stop which is served by routes 75A and 75B of Ruter's bus network. It is approximately 100 metres away from the tram stop. There is a shelter at the station, which was built in the 1990s, along with many other stations on the Ekeberg Line. It is a copy of Erik Glosimodt's original art nouveau style.

Nordstrand Church is a church in Oslo, Norway. The church was consecrated in 1866 as Østre Aker Chapel and was later renamed Sæter Chapel. In 1905 the Nordstrand congregation was established, and the following year the church changed its name again to Nordstrand Church. The church was built in red brick in neo-Gothic style by architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. In 1886 a sacristy was added, and in 1935 it was extended and given a new church tower to the west, drawn by architect Georg Greve. The last and largest expansion took place in 2014 to 2015. Then the church was extended 26 meters to the east and the church congregation got new facilities in the basement. The number of seats in the church room was increased from approx. 300 to 480. Architects for the remodeling work were Are Meinich and Trine-Lise Sonne. The church was reconsecrated on Sunday, August 23, 2015, by bishop of Oslo Ole Christian Kvarme.The church is surrounded by a cemetery.The Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage has listed Nordstrand Church as a church site, and approved the recent renovations and extensions.

Holmlia Church is a church center in the southeastern part of Oslo, Norway. The church is run by the Church of Norway, and is also used by the Roman Catholic St. Hallvard Parish for weekly Holy Masses on Sundays at 6PM.The church room has four pillars and glass roofs. The altar is made of light marble. The altarpiece, which represents the Lion of Judah and the lamb and the stained glass were created by Per Odd Aarrestad. Behind the altar is a glass pillar with a Christ figure. The baptismal font is in glazed brick and marble, designed by the architect 1993. The church organ from organ builder Ryde & Berg has 17 voices. The church building also contains offices, a parish hall and children's and youth rooms. The separate bell tower has 12 bells created at the Olsen Nauen Bell Foundry.

Hauketo Station (Norwegian: Hauketo Stasjon) is a railway station on the Østfold Line. It is located in the Hauketo neighborhood in the Søndre Nordstrand borough of Oslo, Norway. Situated 8.68 kilometers (5.39 mi) from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), it features two side platforms. Hauketo is served by the Line L2 of the Oslo Commuter Rail, providing two to four services each hour. The station opened on 15 February 1925, after the Østfold Line had been moved to avoid the Ljan Viaduct. Its original wooden station building is now a pizzeria. The station has been unmanned since 1980. Eight Ruter bus lines feed the station.
