Located 4 km from Madras Christian College, the place is a hub of various religious communities. There is the temple of Lord Shiva, and the newly commissioned Mahameru temple, featuring an assembly of "Sithars". A temple dedicated to Lord Anjaneyar (son of Anjana, so Hanuman) is the Maruthy Nagar Anjaneyar Temple. Selaiyur is a neighbourhood of Chennai, India. This place is located on the Tambaram–Velachery Road. Long ago, this place was called as Silaiyur. The nearest railway station is the Tambaram railway station and the Chennai airport is about 9 km away. Selaiyur has bus connectivity to all the main regions of the city. Nanmangalam Reserve Forest is a protected forest located in Chengalpattu district, about 24 km from the city centre. It is located at Medavakkam on Velachery High Road between Velachery and Tambaram. The reserve forest has an area of 320 hectares. However, the total area of the forest is 2,400 hectares.

Chitlapakkam aeri, or Chitlapakkam lake, is an urban lake located in Chitlapakkam, Chennai, India. It is the chief water body in the neighbourhood. Originally measuring 86.86 acres, the lake has currently shrunken to 46.88 acres. The lake was last restored in 2003.
