Dows Street Historic District

The Historic Ely Elevator, also known as the Woitishek-King-Krob Elevator and Feed Mill, is an "iron-clad" wood-cribbed grain elevator, located in Ely, Iowa. The Historic Ely Elevator was built in 1900 along the Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway. It is a contributing property of the Dows Street Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Ely School House is a historic building located in Ely, Iowa, United States. The building was built in 1923 in the Tudor Revival style. After the building served as a school building it became the community center for the town of Ely. It now houses city government offices, City Council Chambers, a senior dining facility, meeting rooms and The History Center and archives. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2006.

The Jan F. and Antonie Janko Farmstead District is an agricultural historic district located west of Ely, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. At the time of its nomination it consisted of seven resources, which included five contributing buildings, one contributing structure, and one non-contributing structure. The historic buildings include a two-story, wood frame, side gable house (1887); a gabled basement barn (c. 1887); a gabled barn (1893); chicken house (1880s, with additions from the 1940s or 1950s), and a single-stall garage (1910s-1930s). The corncrib (1910s or 1920s) is the historic structure. A three-stall garage (1972) is the non-contributing structure. The farmstead is located on a hilltop and sideslope. The house sits on the highest elevation, with the outbuildings located down the slope to the west and southwest. The first known owners of the farm were Isaac and Nancy Cox who farmed this property from at least 1859. Jan Janko settled here in 1864 and bought the property from the Cox's in 1875. From then until at least 2000 the farm has been owned by a Bohemian immigrant or a person of Bohemian descent. While the farm no longer reflects the initial settlement of Linn County, it does reflect the early settlement of Bohemian immigrants in the county. It is also significant that the original dwelling, probably a log cabin or log house, is no longer extant. Janko replaced the older house instead of adding onto it, which was more typical of the area's Bohemian immigrants.

The Podhajsky-Jansa Farmstead District is an agricultural historic district located southwest of Ely, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. At the time of its nomination it consisted of 12 resources, which included five contributing buildings, four contributing structures, and three non-contributing structures. The historic buildings include two small side gabled houses (c. 1860s-1880s); a two-story, frame, American Foursquare house (1910s or 1920s); a gabled barn that was moved here from another farm (1890s-early 1900s); and a feeder barn (c. 1912). One of two corncribs (1933), a hog house (early 1900s), and a chicken house (early 1900s) are the historic structures. Another corncrib and a couple of metal sheds from the mid to late 20th century are the non-contributing structures. While the farm dates from at least 1869, it reflects the early settlement of Bohemian immigrants in the county beginning with Joseph and Ann Podhajsky in 1877. John Podhajsky was listed as the owner in 1895, but this could be a mistake as there is no John in the family and Joseph was still alive. Frank Hyuck owned the farm from c. 1902 to 1907. Albert and Josephine Jansa bought the farm in 1907, and it remained in their family into the 1990s. The two small side gabled houses are indicative of a Bohemian immigrant farm. The older of the two was built here in the 1860s or 1870s, and is a step up from a log cabin. It was a gabled cottage with sleeping loft above. The second house was built elsewhere in the 1870s or 1880s and moved here by the Podhajskys in 1880s or 1890s and added to the original house to create a larger house. After the larger family home was built these two houses were separated and repurposed for other uses.

The Josias L. and Elizabeth A. Minor Farmstead District is an agricultural historic district located northwest of Ely, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. At the time of its nomination it consisted of five resources, which included four contributing buildings and one non-contributing structure. The historic buildings include a 1+1⁄2-story, T-plan, half-timbered house (1856); gabled barn #1 (c. 1855); gabled barn #2 (1850s-1860s, with an addition from the 1860s-1870s); and the summer kitchen (1850s). The corncrib (1910s or 1920s) is the historic structure. Family lore says that Josias Minor settled here in 1846, but an 1878 biography of him gives September 1855 as the settlement date, which is used here for dating the buildings.The farm has always been in the Minor family, who settled here from Pennsylvania. This is a rare example of an early settlement farmstead, and it is the only one in Linn County with its original primary buildings still standing in good condition. By the early 20th century this farm was part of a cluster of Minor family farms, which reflected the pattern of family-oriented settlements in the county during this era.

Lingle Creek is a stream in Johnson County, Iowa, in the United States. It is a tributary to Hoosier Creek. Lingle Creek was named for Thomas Lingle, who operated a gristmill along the creek in the 1840s.

The Joseph and Clara Amanda H. Moorhead House is a historic building located east of Ely, Iowa, United States. Joseph was a native of Holmes County, Ohio and Clara was from Chemung County, New York. They settled in Putnam Township in 1855 with their two sons. The Moorhead daughters were born in Iowa. The family initially lived in a log house before the original part of this house was built in 1859. The house is the only known residential example of heavy timber-frame construction that remains in Linn County from its settlement period. This construction method was more common in barn construction. The house was originally a rectangular two-story structure with side gables. Additions and a wrap-around porch were added in later years. Two barns associated with the farm, no longer extant, were located across the road. The Moorheads lived here until 1881 when Joseph was elected the county auditor, and they moved into Marion. They retained ownership of the property until 1900. Clara died in Marion in 1901 and Joseph died two years later in Wichita, Kansas, where he lived with one of their daughters. They are buried nearby in the Rogers Grove Cemetery. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The Buresh Farm is located west of Solon, Iowa, United States, along the north shore of Lake McBride. Its historic designation includes five frame structures, the farmhouse and four agricultural buildings. All except one of the buildings is thought to have been built around 1894. The house features a gable roof and wide eaves. It has a root cellar beneath it. The barn, granary and wash house all feature board-and-batten construction. The barn has a wide gable roof that slopes to a shed roof on its north elevation. The granary has a saltbox roof. The wash house was originally built as a summer kitchen. Although its construction date is unknown, the hog house appears to be newer than the rest based on its nonconforming shape. While not particularly unique, the farm buildings are largely unaltered and reflect a late 19th-century agricultural operation that is disappearing from Iowa. The farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
