Bird Island is an island in San Francisco Bay. It is in San Mateo County, California. Its coordinates are 37°33′04″N 122°14′13″W, and the United States Geological Survey gave its elevation as 7 ft (2.1 m) in 1998. It appears on a 2012 USGS map of the area.

KNBR (680 AM) is a San Francisco, California radio station, broadcasting on a clear channel from transmitting facilities in Redwood City, California. KNBR's non-directional 50,000-watt class-A signal can be heard throughout much of the western United States and as far west as the Hawaiian Islands at night. For several decades, KNBR enjoyed a long history as the flagship station of NBC's West Coast radio operations. Two other stations also use the KNBR brand. KNBR-FM (104.5 FM) in San Francisco has been a full-time simulcast of KNBR's programming since September 6, 2019. KTCT (1050 kHz) is licensed to San Mateo, California, with a transmitter located near Hayward, California. It carried a separate sports format known as The Ticket but was rebranded as a second KNBR in 2003. The Sports Leader is the on-air branding used by all three stations. The stations' studios are located at 750 Battery Street in San Francisco's Financial District.Between the three stations, games of the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Panthers and Stanford Cardinal are broadcast to the San Francisco Bay Area. KTCT is available in the HD format on 1050 kHz. In addition, KNBR is simulcast on the HD2 subchannel of KSAN in nearby San Mateo.

Eden Landing (also, Mount Eden Landing, Edendale, Barrons Landing, Barron's Landing, and Peterman's Landing) is a former settlement in Alameda County, California. Eden Landing was located west-southwest of Mount Eden. Its site is now located within the corporate limits of Hayward. Eden Landing was established in 1854 by farmers who were dissatisfied with the freight charges at Allen's Landing, which was a quarter of a mile (400 m) west. The place was bought by Richard Barron in 1855, and renamed Barrons Landing. Henry Louis Petermann and Mary F. Petermann operated their salt works here. Stokes Landing was located east of Eden Landing on Alameda Creek.A post office operated at Edendale from 1873 to 1875. Coordinates were obtained from USGS GNIS for Barron's Landing.

The steamboat Jenny Lind was a ferry that exploded in San Francisco Bay on April 11, 1853 while on course to San Francisco from Alviso, California, killing many residents of Alviso and San Jose. The boiler exploded as the steamboat passed the Redwood City inlet (about 37.54°N 122.18°W / 37.54; -122.18), minutes after dinner was called for the passengers. The worst of the casualties were among the women and children who were seated first at dinner. At least 31 people were killed.

USS Thompson (DD-305), a Clemson-class destroyer of the U.S. Navy named in honor of Secretary of the Navy Richard W. Thompson (1809–1900), never saw action against an enemy. She was the first Navy ship of that name; the second, Thompson (DD-627), named for Robert M. Thompson, served during World War II and the Korean War.

Hayward Regional Shoreline is a regional park located on the shores of the San Francisco Bay in Hayward, California. It is part of the East Bay Regional Parks system. The 1,713 acre park extends to the shores of San Lorenzo. Part of the park is former commercial salt flats purchased in 1996. A former landfill, now capped with soil and plants, is located in the park. The park includes the 250 acre tidal wetland, Cogswell Marsh, and the 364 acre Oro Loma Marsh (constructed in 1997). Located to the south of the park is the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center, which provides information on the Bay shore habitats. The San Francisco Bay Trail runs through the park, which connects the park with San Lorenzo Creek.

KTCT (1050 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to San Mateo, California, and serving the San Francisco Bay Area. It is owned by Cumulus Media and airs a sports radio format as KNBR 1050, a sister station to KNBR and KNBR-FM. In contrast to KNBR-AM-FM having local sports talk and play-by-play most of the day, KTCT emphasizes nationally syndicated programming from ESPN Radio and Westwood One Sports. KTCT is also the radio home for San Jose Earthquakes soccer, Stanford University football, and University of San Francisco men's basketball. By day, KTCT is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM stations in the U.S. But because 1050 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A XEG Monterrey, KTCT reduces power at sunset to 10,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna at all times with a five-tower array. The transmitter is off West Winton Avenue in Hayward, near San Francisco Bay.

Bair Island is a marsh area in Redwood City, California, covering 3,000 acres (1,200 ha), and includes three islands: Inner, Middle and Outer islands. Bair Island is part of the larger Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. It is surrounded by the Steinberger slough to the northwest and Redwood Creek to the southeast. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Bair Island Ecological Reserve consists of 1,985 acres (803 ha) on the Middle and Outer islands, although the entire island group is managed by the Refuge. Bair Island is an important ecological wetland, which provides critical habitat for a variety of species, including the endangered California clapper rail and the Salt marsh harvest mouse, and is an important stop for birds on the Pacific Flyway. Bair Island is bisected by Corkscrew Slough, a major haul-out site for harbor seals (Phoca vitulina).

Brewer Island is an island in the San Francisco Bay, in San Mateo County, California. Originally owned by W. P. A. Brewer, for over one hundred years it was used for hay farming. Several attempts to develop the island failed between 1912 and 1959. Ultimately, a venture by Richard Grant and T. Jack Foster succeeded in 1960; Brewer Island's surface was raised by 6 ft (1.8 m), an artificial lake was dug in its center, and it became the location of what is now known as Foster City.

Redwood Creek is a 9.5-mile-long (15.3 km) perennial stream located in San Mateo County, California, United States which discharges into South San Francisco Bay. The Port of Redwood City, the largest deepwater port in South San Francisco Bay, is situated on the east bank of Redwood Creek near its mouth, where the creek becomes a natural deepwater channel.

The Russell City Energy Center (RCEC) is a 619-megawatt natural gas-fired power station, which began operating in August 2013. It is operated by Calpine, and is located in Hayward, California. It is named for Russell City and is built on that community's former landfill site.

Leo J. Ryan Memorial Park is a recreational city park, located in Foster City, California and run by the city government and local citizens. Originally called simply "Central Park", the park was named in honor and memory of Congressman Leo J. Ryan. The park is situated on 20 acres (8 ha) which overlook Foster City's lagoon. The park houses the William E. Walker Recreation Center, and includes a waterfront, outdoor amphitheatre, sailboat tie-up facilities, boardwalk, lawn areas, and a gazebo on the lake. There is a pathway that goes around the perimeter of the park, which also has ADA access.
