KTCT (1050 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to San Mateo, California, and serving the San Francisco Bay Area. It is owned by Cumulus Media and airs a sports radio format as KNBR 1050, a sister station to KNBR and KNBR-FM. In contrast to KNBR-AM-FM having local sports talk and play-by-play most of the day, KTCT emphasizes nationally syndicated programming from ESPN Radio and Westwood One Sports. KTCT is also the radio home for San Jose Earthquakes soccer, Stanford University football, and University of San Francisco men's basketball. By day, KTCT is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM stations in the U.S. But because 1050 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A XEG Monterrey, KTCT reduces power at sunset to 10,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna at all times with a five-tower array. The transmitter is off West Winton Avenue in Hayward, near San Francisco Bay.

Hayward Regional Shoreline is a regional park located on the shores of the San Francisco Bay in Hayward, California. It is part of the East Bay Regional Parks system. The 1,713 acre park extends to the shores of San Lorenzo. Part of the park is former commercial salt flats purchased in 1996. A former landfill, now capped with soil and plants, is located in the park. The park includes the 250 acre tidal wetland, Cogswell Marsh, and the 364 acre Oro Loma Marsh (constructed in 1997). Located to the south of the park is the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center, which provides information on the Bay shore habitats. The San Francisco Bay Trail runs through the park, which connects the park with San Lorenzo Creek.

Russell City (also known as Russell) was an unincorporated community in Alameda County, California, United States, about 10 miles (16 km) south of Oakland in present-day Hayward. The land is at an elevation of 16 feet (5 m). Russell City existed from 1853 until 1964, when the last of the residents were forced out to make way for an industrial park, with such parks dominating the area to this day. While the residents fought removal, many of the buildings were destroyed in arson fires.

The Russell City Energy Center (RCEC) is a 619-megawatt natural gas-fired power station, which began operating in August 2013. It is operated by Calpine, and is located in Hayward, California. It is named for Russell City and is built on that community's former landfill site.

San Lorenzo Creek (Spanish: Arroyo de San Lorenzo) is a 10.7-mile-long (17.2 km) year-round natural stream flowing through Hayward, California and other neighboring unincorporated communities into San Francisco Bay at the Hayward Regional Shoreline.

KFAX (1100 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to San Francisco, California, and heard around the Bay Area. As of 2014, the station is owned by Salem Media Group and programs a Christian radio teaching and talk format. The studios and offices are in suburban Fremont and the transmitter is in nearby Hayward near the San Mateo–Hayward Bridge. KFAX broadcasts with 50,000 watts, the highest power permitted for AM stations. But because 1100 AM is a clear-channel frequency reserved for Class A WTAM in Cleveland, KFAX must use a directional antenna to avoid interference, aiming most of its signal away from the east. The station is the most powerful Christian-formatted AM station west of the Mississippi.

Roberts Landing was a settlement in Alameda County, California, now incorporated into the town of San Leandro. It is located at the mouth of San Lorenzo Creek on San Francisco Bay just west of the community of San Lorenzo. In the 19th century, it had warehouses and a wharf, and was used by farmers to ship their produce to the city of San Francisco. From 1906 to 1964, it was the site of an explosives manufacturing plant operated by the Trojan Powder Company. Following the plant's closure, the site was decontaminated. After protracted discussions, part was made into a housing development while a larger part was made an open space that is now also called the San Leandro Shoreline Marshlands.

Hayward Executive Airport (IATA: HWD, ICAO: KHWD, FAA LID: HWD) is a municipal airport in Hayward, California. The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a reliever airport. The towered airport near the east shore of San Francisco Bay was formerly the Hayward Air Terminal.

Arroyo High School is located in San Lorenzo, California, and is part of the San Lorenzo Unified School District. Serving as one of two public high schools for San Lorenzo and parts of San Leandro, its sister high school and cross-town rival is San Lorenzo High School.

Kennedy Park is a large, multi-use park in Hayward, California, managed by the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (HARD). It is the most heavily used park in the district. The park is adjacent to McConaghy Park, which contains McConaghy House, a historic property, built in 1886, and managed as a house museum by HARD and the Hayward Area Historical Society. McConaghy House features Stick/Eastlake architecture. It lies within San Lorenzo. In 2013, plans to renovate the park and combine the park and house into a Victorian-style venue were proposed.

Marina High School was a public high school located in the Washington Manor neighborhood of San Leandro, California, USA, that opened from 1964 to 1982. It was part of the San Lorenzo Unified School District.It opened in September 1964 on Wicks Boulevard with only freshman, sophomore and junior classes. Donald Hayes was the architect of Marina High, which gave Marina its distinctive roofline. The students mostly came from the former Foothill High School in Hayward. The first graduating class at Marina was in 1966 and the last graduating class was in 1982. Marina mainly served the Washington Manor area of San Leandro, and approximately 1,200 students attended each year of its existence. Forrest S. Lindsay was the first principal, from 1964 to 1973. Roosevelt Bergmann was the principal from 1974 to 1982. Marina's athletic teams were known as The Titans, and the school colors were royal blue and white. The Titans competed in the HAAL league in American football, baseball, basketball (the Titans had their first winning season in 1969-70), golf, badminton, gymnastics, soccer, swimming, tennis, cross country, track, wrestling, G.A.A. baseball and G.A.A. basketball. The Titans Varsity Football team won the HAAL championship in 1974 and played Dublin High in the Turkey Bowl at Chabot College in Hayward. The Titans won that game 30-8. They were ranked 7th in Bay Area polls after the season. Clubs at Marina High School included Block "M" (boys' sports), G.A.A. (girls' sports), Megaphone Club (spirit club for the school), French Club, California Scholarship Federation, Latin Club, Future Business Leaders of America, the Virons, Rally Committee, Chess Club, Music Club, JV and Varsity Cheerleaders and Songgirls, Executive Council, Student Court Justices, Representative Assembly, Student Curriculum Council, Homemaking, Art Club, the Thunderbolt Staff (newspaper) and Timaran Staff (yearbook). In 1982, the property was sold from San Lorenzo to the City of San Leandro. The school was demolished to make way for single-family, detached homes, but the Marina High School multi-purpose room, two art rooms and the cafeteria were saved and renamed The Marina Community Center, located at 15301 Wicks Boulevard. The City of San Leandro Library holds copies of Marina High School's yearbooks.
