Unterelbe

Lühesand is a small island of 1.24 square kilometres (0.48 sq mi) in the river Elbe (here the Lower Elbe), 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) east of Stade in Lower Saxony, Germany. The island, named after the easterly located mouth of the Lühe, forms part of Hollern-Twielenfleth (northwestern two thirds of the island) and Steinkirchen (southeastern third). It can only be reached by ferry from Grünendeich's westerly exclave Sandhörn and contains a large camping site, on which many continuous campers stay. The southern carrying pylons of Elbe Crossing 1 and Elbe Crossing 2 have been located on Lühesand.

Haseldorf is a municipality in the district of Pinneberg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the right bank of the Elbe, approx. 13 km west of Pinneberg, and 27 km west of Hamburg. Haseldorf was the seat of the former Amt ("collective municipality") of Haseldorf.

Grünendeich is a municipality in the district of Stade, Lower Saxony, Germany. It belonged to the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen. In 1648 the Prince-Archbishopric was transformed into the Duchy of Bremen, which was first ruled in personal union by the Swedish and from 1715 on by the Hanoverian Crown. In 1823 the Duchy was abolished and its territory became part of the Stade Region.

Hetlingen is a municipality in the district of Pinneberg in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. Hetlingen is the site of Elbe Crossing 1 and Elbe Crossing 2, two power line crossings across the river Elbe. The pylons of Elbe Crossing 2 are the highest pylons in Europe. Hetlingen also has the largest sewage treatment in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, treating the wastewater of several districts with a total population of about 450,000.

Schilling Power Station was an oil-fired power station in the proximity of the nuclear power station at Stade. It went into operation in 1960, was extended in 1962 and 1964, and was shut down in the 1980s. Since it principally served Hamburg north for the electricity supply of Hamburg and fed its current into the transformer station, the first overhead line crossing of the Elbe was built at that time at Stade, the Elbe Crossing 1. The buildings still exist today and are occasionally used for disaster control exercises. Due to the use of heavy fuel oil, a chimney was built with a height of 722 feet or 220 metres, it was 1962-1965 the tallest chimney worldwide. It was an open lattice structure with three separate exhaust pipes from the blocks. The structure was demolished in 2005.

Lühe is a Samtgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the Altes Land west of Hamburg (Germany). Lühe has a population of about 10,000 and belongs to the district of Stade, Lower Saxony. The seat of the municipality is in Steinkirchen in Altes Land. Lühe is named after the river Lühe which runs through Guderhandviertel, Mittelnkirchen, Neuenkirchen in Altes Land and Steinkirchen.
