Llangwyryfon

Llyn Eiddwen () is a lake and site of special scientific interest near Trefenter in Ceredigion, Wales. It is the source of the River Aeron. This natural lake provides an environment to preserve rare local water-plant life and seasonal animals. It is owned and managed by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales. Surrounded by sheep-grazed common land, it is part of a national nature reserve. Visitors come on foot from the north or on bridleways from the south.Remote and peaceful, Llyn Eiddwen National Nature Reserve lies in the gentle slopes of Mynydd Bach, to the north west of Tregaron town in Ceredigion. The wet and quiet nature of its habitats suits shy creatures such as water voles and otters. A climb to the summit of the surrounding hills reveals views of Cardigan Bay to the west, and of the Pumlumon and Elenydd uplands to the north and east.

Rhos Blaen Carrog is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Ceredigion, west Wales, due to its population of Wavy St. John's Wort (Hypericum undulatum), an extremely rare variety of St. John's Wort.

Mynydd Bach (literally “Small Mountain” in Welsh) is located in the midlands of Ceredigion. It is a range of low hills, rather than a single mountain as its name suggests. The highest point reaches 329 meters above sea level. This area contains a few small villages and is an important place in Ceredigion’s cultural history.

The Ystwyth Trail is a 21-mile (34 km) multi-use rail trail linking Aberystwyth, Llanfarian, Ystrad Meurig and Tregaron in Ceredigion, Wales. Cycling and walking are permitted along the entire length while horseriding is permitted on several sections only. The £1.7m Ystwyth Trail was partially completed in September 2008 and runs along part of the former redundant track bed of the Old Manchester and Milford Railway, a Great Western Railway branch line. It remains incomplete, as several sections of the former railway line were not purchased to create the trail due to extensive lobbying by local councillors of Ceredigion County Council against the trail, as existing landowners and farmers objected to the construction of the trail. Diversions of the trail have now been carried out onto narrow sections of existing public roads to link these missing sections, but this has created a non continuous trail with intermediate road sections on narrow roads which have considerable safety issues due to their narrowness, many bends and no traffic speed limits. Due to these objections and lobbying, it is unlikely that this trail will be developed or completed any further. The Ystwyth Trail links with other routes via Lampeter and Devil's Bridge creating a link with both the Lôn Cambria and Lôn Teifi long distance cycling routes (Sustrans national network routes 81 and 82).

Castle Hill is an area and country estate in the community of Llanilar, Ceredigion, Wales, which is 70.2 miles (112.9 km) from Cardiff and 175.8 miles (282.9 km) from London. Castle Hill is represented in the Senedd by Elin Jones (Plaid Cymru) and is part of the Ceredigion constituency in the House of Commons.

Bontnewydd is a small village in Ceredigion between Tregaron and Aberystwyth near the village of Bronant. It is situated on the edge of the beautiful wild area of upland common called Mynydd Bach. The rivers Ddu and Aeron meet to the south-east of the village. The Llyn Eiddwen SSSI is close by.

Llanilar (Welsh pronunciation: [ɬanˈɪlar]) is a village and community in Ceredigion, Wales, about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) southeast of Aberystwyth. It is the eponym of the hundred of Ilar. The population at the 2011 census was 1,085. The community includes Rhos-y-garth.

Blaenplwyf (Pontllanio previously) is a village in Ceredigion, to the southwest of Aberystwyth. It is noted for the Blaenplwyf transmitting station, which serves Aberystwyth and Cardigan Bay area. It was originally built by the BBC in 1956–7, serving as a main transmitter for BBC Band II VHF FM radio. Blaenplwyf contains a small stone and brick former Mission Church, dated to 1878, which is now a church. The Calvinistic Methodist Chapel, a yellow and brown Victorian church built by David Williams of Aberystwyth, also dates to 1878.In 2002, residents of the village joined forces to prevent the local shop and post office being shut down by applying for a grant from the EU and buying it.

Llanilar railway station was on the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth Line (originally called the Manchester and Milford Railway before being transferred to the Great Western Railway).

The Blaenplwyf transmitting station (sometimes written "Blaen Plwyf" or "Blaen-Plwyf") is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility located near the village of Blaenplwyf about 10 kilometres (6 mi) to the south west of the town of Aberystwyth, in Ceredigion, Wales (grid reference SN569756). It was originally built by the BBC, entering service in October 1956 acting as a main transmitter for BBC Band II VHF FM radio. It had been planned that the BBC's 405-line VHF television service would commence on the same date, but delays at Rowridge caused the official switch-on to happen six months later on 29 April 1957. Blaenplwyf was considered a main transmitter for VHF television (despite radiating only 3 kW ERP) as it was fed from a microwave link from Mynydd Pencarreg just south of Lampeter. The facility is now owned and operated by Arqiva. The site has a 152 metres (499 ft) guyed steel lattice mast standing on land that is itself 175 metres (574 ft) above sea level. The television and radio broadcasts were originally designed to cover the majority of the Cardigan Bay coastline, the antennas being designed for maximum ERP to the north and to the south-west. Blaenplwyf became a main transmitter for UHF analogue colour television from 1970 onwards, and was transmitting all three original UHF channels in colour from mid 1973.It currently carries all six UK digital television multiplexes.
