Blaenplwyf

Chancery (Welsh: Rhydgaled) is a hamlet in Llanfarian community, in the district county of Ceredigion, Mid-Wales, south of the administrative centre Aberystwyth. The hamlet is on the A487 road, about 0.9 miles (1.4 km) south-west of Llanfarian village. A school at Chancery is referred to in a World War II children's evacuation account.

The Blaenplwyf transmitting station (sometimes written "Blaen Plwyf" or "Blaen-Plwyf") is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility located near the village of Blaenplwyf about 10 kilometres (6 mi) to the south west of the town of Aberystwyth, in Ceredigion, Wales (grid reference SN569756). It was originally built by the BBC, entering service in October 1956 acting as a main transmitter for BBC Band II VHF FM radio. It had been planned that the BBC's 405-line VHF television service would commence on the same date, but delays at Rowridge caused the official switch-on to happen six months later on 29 April 1957. Blaenplwyf was considered a main transmitter for VHF television (despite radiating only 3 kW ERP) as it was fed from a microwave link from Mynydd Pencarreg just south of Lampeter. The facility is now owned and operated by Arqiva. The site has a 152 metres (499 ft) guyed steel lattice mast standing on land that is itself 175 metres (574 ft) above sea level. The television and radio broadcasts were originally designed to cover the majority of the Cardigan Bay coastline, the antennas being designed for maximum ERP to the north and to the south-west. Blaenplwyf became a main transmitter for UHF analogue colour television from 1970 onwards, and was transmitting all three original UHF channels in colour from mid 1973.It currently carries all six UK digital television multiplexes.

Rhos Blaen Carrog is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Ceredigion, west Wales, due to its population of Wavy St. John's Wort (Hypericum undulatum), an extremely rare variety of St. John's Wort.

Llanfarian (Welsh pronunciation: [ɬanˈvarjan]) is a village, electoral ward and community in the district county of Ceredigion, Mid-Wales, south of the administrative centre Aberystwyth. Llanfarian village lies above the banks of the river Ystwyth in the Ystwyth Valley. The community – which includes the villages of Rhydyfelin and Glanyrafon, and the hamlets of Chancery and Moriah – had a population of 1,541 at the 2011 census.

Tan-y-Bwlch (Welsh for 'Under the pass / gap') beach near Aberystwyth, Wales, forms part of the Pen Dinas and Tan-y-Bwlch Local Nature Reserve (LNR). The majority of which is located in the village of Penparcau. The area was designated in 1999 following a public meeting which attracted more than 100 local people. The 100-acre (0.40 km2) site contains the Bronze Age burial mound and Iron Age Hillfort named Pen Dinas. The site is managed by Ceredigion County Council and is publicly owned, it is the largest Local nature reserve in the Dyfi Biosphere. The Wales Coastal Path runs along the top of the shingle beach. The beach is sometimes referred to as Penparcau Beach by locals in the area, the name is used on some mapping services.

Pen Dinas (Welsh pronunciation: [pɛn ˈdiːnas]) is a large hill in Penparcau, on the coast of Ceredigion, Wales, (just south of Aberystwyth) upon which an extensive Iron Age, Celtic hillfort is situated. The site can easily be reached on foot from Aberystwyth town centre and is accessible via a series of well marked trails. Boasting a commanding position at the confluence of the River Ystwyth and Afon Rheidol, it has been described as "the pre-eminent hillfort on the Cardigan Bay coast".The name is more correctly 'Dinas Maelor', this could be translated into English as 'Maelor's Fort' or 'Maelor's City'. Tradition refers to it as being the fort of the giant Maelor Gawr. Pen Dinas strictly speaking only refers to the highest point, 'Pen y Dinas' or 'Head of the Citadel', (upon which the Wellington Monument now stands). The southern summit is also where, in the Bronze Age, a burial mound was erected. There is a large stone monument dedicated to the Duke of Wellington which was built in the 1850's upon Pen Dinas overlooking Cardigan Bay and the town of Aberystwyth. The monument takes the form of an eighteen metre high upended cannon. Penparcau (Welsh pronunciation: [pɛnˈparkai̯]) is a village and electoral ward in Ceredigion, Wales, situated to the south of Aberystwyth. The original village was a hamlet, but the building of extensive Art Deco style semi-detached social housing from the 1920s on transformed it. It lies in the shadow of the Celtic Iron Age hill fort of Pen Dinas, and between the sea at Tan Y Bwlch beach, the River Ystwyth and the Rheidol. Penparcau has the only UNESCO Biosphere reserve in the Dyfi Biosphere. A section of the Wales Coast Path runs over Tan y Bwlch beach. There is an Anglican church named after the Saint Anne, a Roman Catholic church named after the Welsh Martyrs, which is noted in "Architecture of Wales, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion" and is home to a Lampedusa Cross, as well as two Methodist chapels and a Quaker meeting house. The recently closed Tollgate pub was named after the original tollgate that stood on the old toll road at the top of Penparcau and is now in St Fagans National History Museum near Cardiff. Penparcau has its own woodland, Coed Geufron run by the Woodland Trust and its own police station. Other amenities have included a post office, two supermarkets, a garage, holiday park and hotel and two fish and chip shops. Until late 2007, it also had its own travel agent. In 2008, Penparcau played a part in the transition town movement in Wales when it hosted the "Alternative Energy and Transport Festival" in Neuadd Goffa, attended by the local MP and mayor. At the bottom of the valley, just below Penparcau, is a Welsh Government office building, designed to house more than 550 staff.

Pont Paith is a hamlet in the community of Llanfarian, Ceredigion, Wales, 73 miles (117.5 km) from Cardiff and 177.9 miles (286.2 km) from London. Pont Paith is represented in the Senedd by Elin Jones (Plaid Cymru) and is part of the Ceredigion constituency in the House of Commons.

Penparcau Football Club are a Welsh football club from Penparcau, Ceredigion. They currently play in the Central Wales Southern Division, the fourth tier of the Welsh football league. The club was reformed in the summer of 2017 and played in the Aberystwyth League Division One. The club's home colours are black and white striped shirt with black shorts and socksFor the 2021–22 season the club played in the tier 3 Ardal North East and finished in 9th position. After the end of the season the club announced they would be withdrawing from the league and for the 2022–23 season would play in the tier 4 Mid Wales Football League South Division. They cited the cost of match officials, as well as the travel expenses for players for away matches, as well as the requirement of a reserve team as their reasons for their departure.

Aberystwyth Lifeboat Station is a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeboat station in the coastal resort of Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, West Wales. It was established in 1861, but there has been a lifeboat serving the town since 1843. Since 2007 the station has operated an Atlantic 85-class inshore lifeboat, RNLB Spirit of Friendship (B-822), launched by submersible tractor. The station also has an Arancia IRB as support for the larger Atlantic 85-class inshore lifeboat.

Aberystwyth Rheidol is the name of a local government electoral ward in the town of Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales. It elects a county councillor to Ceredigion County Council and also elects town councillors to Aberystwyth Town Council.
