Royal Air Force Swinderby or more simply RAF Swinderby is a former Royal Air Force station airfield opened in 1940, one of the last of the stations completed under the RAF's expansion plans started in the 1930s. It was built near the village of Swinderby, Lincolnshire just off the south east side of the A46 (the Fosse Way) between Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire and Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England. The station closed on 17 December 1993.

Thurlby is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England, about 9 miles (14 km) south-west of the city of Lincoln and about 9 miles (14 km) north-east of the town of Newark-on-Trent. It is most notable for Thurlby Hall, home of the Bromhead baronets. The population is included in the civil parish of Witham St Hughs. Thurlby is mentioned in Domesday Book – in 1086 the village consisted of 22 households. The parish church is a Grade II* listed building dedicated to Saint Germain and dating from the 11th century, with a 13th-century west tower. It was much restored in the 19th century, and has a porch over a Norman doorway and a 15th-century font. In the churchyard is a medieval churchyard cross which is believed to stand in its original position west of the tower. It is believed to have been restored in 1842 and is a scheduled monument.Thurlby Hall is a Grade II listed small country house dating from the early 18th century. The house was the home of the Bromhead baronets. Major Sir Edmund Gonville Bromhead (1791–1870) 3rd Baronet, was the father of Gonville Bromhead who won the Victoria Cross at the 1879 battle of Rorke's Drift in the Zulu War. Gonville Bromhead's older brother Benjamin Parnell Bromhead succeeded their father as 4th Baronet.

HM Prison Morton Hall is a Category C men's prison, located in the village of Morton Hall (near Lincoln) in Lincolnshire, England. The centre is operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. It was previously a women's prison and from 2011 to 2021 it was an Immigration Removal Centre.

Morton Hall is a small village in the civil parish of Swinderby , in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated 8 miles (13 km) south-west from the City of Lincoln, and is centrally located between the nearby larger villages of Swinderby, Thorpe on the Hill, and Eagle Barnsdale. Morton Hall is served by Swinderby railway station, just outside the village to the west. The separate hamlet of Morton is 0.5 miles (0.8 km) to the south-east. HM Prison Morton Hall is in the village. It was originally the site of an RAF base, which was converted into a prison in 1985. The facility was converted into an immigration removal centre in 2011.

Norton Disney is a small village and civil parish on the western boundary of the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated on the border with the adjacent county of Nottinghamshire and shares a boundary with Collingham in that county. This county and parish boundary of Collingham and Norton Disney also splits the Potter Hill area which has important Iron Age and Roman archaeology. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 226. It lies midway between Lincoln and Newark, 2 miles (3.2 km) to the south-east of the A46. Norton Disney was one of the seats of the Disney family, an Anglicised version of the original French surname d'Isigny, of Isigny-sur-Mer, Normandy, from whom film producer Walt Disney's family might be descended. The Disney family were also lords of the manor in Swinderby, Carlton-le-Moorland and Kingerby. The Church of England parish church, St Peter's, is a Grade I listed building. The village has one public house, The Green Man, formerly the St Vincent Arms.

Tunman Wood is a local nature reserve with an area of over 53 ha (130 acres) located near Eagle Barnsdale, Lincolnshire. It is an area of ancient woodland and has existed since at least 1774. It was used by the Forestry Commission from the 1940s until it was purchased by Lincolnshire County Council, North Kesteven District Council and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust from Lafarge Aggregates in February 2009.

Bassingham is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 1,425. The village is situated approximately 8 miles (13 km) south-west of Lincoln. Bassingham is situated about midway between Newark-on-Trent and Lincoln. The parish is defined by the River Witham to the west, and the River Brant to the east (across Bassingham Fen). To the south-west is Carlton-le-Moorland. A Ham class minesweeper, HMS Bassingham, was named after the village.The church of St. Michael and All Angels was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. The church is in the Bassingham Group of seven churches. In 1998 the church added a seventh bell: the ship's bell from HMS Bassingham, presented by her former commander after she was decommissioned. It hangs in a mahogany bell hood in the north aisle and is rung to signal the start of Sunday worship.Bassingham has two public houses, the Five Bells and the Bugle Horn, a primary school, and a Methodist chapel.

Carlton-le-Moorland, is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England, between Newark-on-Trent and Lincoln. The parish had a population at the 2011 census of 565.

Haddington is a hamlet in the civil parish of Aubourn with Haddington, in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated just off the Fosse Way Roman road, now the A46, 7 miles (11 km) south-west from Lincoln and 1 mile (1.6 km) west from Aubourn. Haddington was formerly a township in the parishes of Aubourn and South Hyckham, in 1866 Haddington became a separate civil parish, on 1 April 1931 the parish was abolished to form "Aubourn, Haddington and South Hykeham". In 1921 the parish had a population of 94.

Swinderby railway station serves the villages of Swinderby, North Scarle, Eagle and Morton Hall in Lincolnshire, England. The station is 8.75 miles (14 km) south west of Lincoln Central on the Nottingham to Lincoln Central Line, owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Railway who provide all services.
