Thurlby is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England, about 9 miles (14 km) south-west of the city of Lincoln and about 9 miles (14 km) north-east of the town of Newark-on-Trent. It is most notable for Thurlby Hall, home of the Bromhead baronets. The population is included in the civil parish of Witham St Hughs. Thurlby is mentioned in Domesday Book – in 1086 the village consisted of 22 households. The parish church is a Grade II* listed building dedicated to Saint Germain and dating from the 11th century, with a 13th-century west tower. It was much restored in the 19th century, and has a porch over a Norman doorway and a 15th-century font. In the churchyard is a medieval churchyard cross which is believed to stand in its original position west of the tower. It is believed to have been restored in 1842 and is a scheduled monument.Thurlby Hall is a Grade II listed small country house dating from the early 18th century. The house was the home of the Bromhead baronets. Major Sir Edmund Gonville Bromhead (1791–1870) 3rd Baronet, was the father of Gonville Bromhead who won the Victoria Cross at the 1879 battle of Rorke's Drift in the Zulu War. Gonville Bromhead's older brother Benjamin Parnell Bromhead succeeded their father as 4th Baronet.

Carlton-le-Moorland, is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England, between Newark-on-Trent and Lincoln. The parish had a population at the 2011 census of 565.

Aubourn with Haddington or Aubourn and Haddington is a civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 460.The parish includes the villages of Aubourn and Haddington. The two villages are on opposite banks of the River Witham. The parish was formed when the parish of Aubourn Haddington and South Hykeham was dissolved in 1991 to become two separate parishes: Aubourn with Haddington, and South Hykeham.

Haddington is a hamlet in the civil parish of Aubourn with Haddington, in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated just off the Fosse Way Roman road, now the A46, 7 miles (11 km) south-west from Lincoln and 1 mile (1.6 km) west from Aubourn. Haddington was formerly a township in the parishes of Aubourn and South Hyckham, in 1866 Haddington became a separate civil parish, on 1 April 1931 the parish was abolished to form "Aubourn, Haddington and South Hykeham". In 1921 the parish had a population of 94.

Aubourn ("Stream where the Alders grow") is a small village in the civil parish of Aubourn with Haddington, in the North Kesteven district, in the county of Lincolnshire, England. It is just east of the A46, in between Lincoln and Newark-on-Trent. It has a one-way system that is unusual for a small countryside village, and a public house called 'The Royal Oak'. In 1921 the parish had a population of 212. On 1 April 1931 the parish was abolished to form "Aubourn, Haddington and South Hykeham".

It is situated less than 0.54 miles (0.9 km) south from the A46 road, geographically 8 miles (13 km) south-west from the city of Lincoln, and 7 miles (11 km) north-east from the town of Newark-on-Trent.Witham St Hughs has a primary school and community hall.Businesses in Witham St Hughs include UK Mail, Limagrain, Germinal and Cargill. Frontier Agriculture, the UK's largest grain marketing business has its head office in Witham St Hughs. There is a nursery in the precinct, a Co-op, a beauty & hair salon and two takeaway restaurants. There are infrequent bus services to Lincoln and Newark.

Royal Air Force Swinderby or more simply RAF Swinderby is a former Royal Air Force station airfield opened in 1940, one of the last of the stations completed under the RAF's expansion plans started in the 1930s. It was built near the village of Swinderby, Lincolnshire just off the south east side of the A46 (the Fosse Way) between Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire and Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England. The station closed on 17 December 1993.

Norton Disney is a small village and civil parish on the western boundary of the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated on the border with the adjacent county of Nottinghamshire and shares a boundary with Collingham in that county. This county and parish boundary of Collingham and Norton Disney also splits the Potter Hill area which has important Iron Age and Roman archaeology. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 226. It lies midway between Lincoln and Newark, 2 miles (3.2 km) to the south-east of the A46. Norton Disney was one of the seats of the Disney family, an Anglicised version of the original French surname d'Isigny, of Isigny-sur-Mer, Normandy, from whom film producer Walt Disney's family might be descended. The Disney family were also lords of the manor in Swinderby, Carlton-le-Moorland and Kingerby. The Church of England parish church, St Peter's, is a Grade I listed building. The village has one public house, The Green Man, formerly the St Vincent Arms.

Aubourn Haddington and South Hykeham was a former civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 885.The parish included the villages of Aubourn, Haddington and South Hykeham. The A46 (the old Fosse Way) formed the north-western border of the parish. The composite parish was formed on 1 April 1931 from the separate parishes of Aubourn, Haddington, and South Hykeham and dissolved in 1991 to become two separate parishes: Aubourn and Haddington and South Hykeham.The dissolution order seems not to have been propagated thoroughly: GIS based national databases still use Aubourn Haddington and South Hykeham as though it is a current parish. Examples include the 2001 census and English Heritage's Pastscape database.

Stapleford is a village and civil parish in North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England, and about 6 miles (10 km) north-east from the town of Newark-on-Trent and 12 miles (19 km) south-west from the city of Lincoln. The population is included in the civil parish of Beckingham. In the 1086 Domesday Book, Stapleford is listed as having 38 households and a church.The Grade II listed parish church is dedicated to All Saints and dates from the 11th century, although it was rebuilt in 1770, and restored in 1903–04. In the churchyard is a Grade II listed and scheduled churchyard cross which dates from the 14th century, and is believed to stand in its original position. Stapleford Woods are under the care of the Forestry Commission.Stapleford CE School was built in 1867 as a National School. It was closed on 18 July 1984.Samual Keetly was the pioneer of Stapleford Wood, planting the first trees on Stapleford Moor in 1785. His previous employment was at Wollaton Gardens. Before any trees were set, the land was turned with an iron plough, with planting taking him ten years to complete. He was a parishioner of Stapleford for 40 years, having brought his family to live there in 1787.

South Hykeham is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 835. It is situated approximately 3 miles (5 km) south-west from the city and county town of Lincoln, and on the A1434 road. Since 1931, South Hykeham formed part of the civil parish of Aubourn Haddington and South Hykeham, but this relationship was broken in 1991 and South Hykeham is again a civil parish.South Hykeham is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, in which it is described as "Hichum", with 14 households and two fisheries.The Grade II* listed parish church is dedicated to Saint Michael and dates from the 13th century, although it was restored and added to by Drury and Mortimer in 1869.South Hykeham Community Primary School was built in 1869 as a National school.

Tunman Wood is a local nature reserve with an area of over 53 ha (130 acres) located near Eagle Barnsdale, Lincolnshire. It is an area of ancient woodland and has existed since at least 1774. It was used by the Forestry Commission from the 1940s until it was purchased by Lincolnshire County Council, North Kesteven District Council and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust from Lafarge Aggregates in February 2009.
