Norton Disney is a small village and civil parish on the western boundary of the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated on the border with the adjacent county of Nottinghamshire and shares a boundary with Collingham in that county. This county and parish boundary of Collingham and Norton Disney also splits the Potter Hill area which has important Iron Age and Roman archaeology. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 226. It lies midway between Lincoln and Newark, 2 miles (3.2 km) to the south-east of the A46. Norton Disney was one of the seats of the Disney family, an Anglicised version of the original French surname d'Isigny, of Isigny-sur-Mer, Normandy, from whom film producer Walt Disney's family might be descended. The Disney family were also lords of the manor in Swinderby, Carlton-le-Moorland and Kingerby. The Church of England parish church, St Peter's, is a Grade I listed building. The village has one public house, The Green Man, formerly the St Vincent Arms.

It is situated approximately 4 miles (6 km) east from Newark-on-Trent on the A17 road, and on the east bank of the River Witham. Beckingham is largely a residential community with a village hall. The village public house is the Grade II listed Pack Horse Inn. Nearby to the west is Newark Golf Course. The Grade I listed parish church is dedicated to All Saints. It was restored in 1857, 1888, and 1889–90. The church was featured on the BBC TV programme Restoration in 2006, where it became a regional runner-up. Further listed buildings are The Old Smithy, Sutton Lane Farmhouse, Beckingham Hillside Cottages, Glebe Farmhouse, Apricot Hall, Rose Cottages, The Rectory, and Redvers House,In 1972 the village was bypassed by a dual-carriageway at a cost of £600,000.

Royal Air Force Swinderby or more simply RAF Swinderby is a former Royal Air Force station airfield opened in 1940, one of the last of the stations completed under the RAF's expansion plans started in the 1930s. It was built near the village of Swinderby, Lincolnshire just off the south east side of the A46 (the Fosse Way) between Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire and Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England. The station closed on 17 December 1993.

Bassingham is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 1,425. The village is situated approximately 8 miles (13 km) south-west of Lincoln. Bassingham is situated about midway between Newark-on-Trent and Lincoln. The parish is defined by the River Witham to the west, and the River Brant to the east (across Bassingham Fen). To the south-west is Carlton-le-Moorland. A Ham class minesweeper, HMS Bassingham, was named after the village.The church of St. Michael and All Angels was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. The church is in the Bassingham Group of seven churches. In 1998 the church added a seventh bell: the ship's bell from HMS Bassingham, presented by her former commander after she was decommissioned. It hangs in a mahogany bell hood in the north aisle and is rung to signal the start of Sunday worship.Bassingham has two public houses, the Five Bells and the Bugle Horn, a primary school, and a Methodist chapel.

Thurlby is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England, about 9 miles (14 km) south-west of the city of Lincoln and about 9 miles (14 km) north-east of the town of Newark-on-Trent. It is most notable for Thurlby Hall, home of the Bromhead baronets. The population is included in the civil parish of Witham St Hughs. Thurlby is mentioned in Domesday Book – in 1086 the village consisted of 22 households. The parish church is a Grade II* listed building dedicated to Saint Germain and dating from the 11th century, with a 13th-century west tower. It was much restored in the 19th century, and has a porch over a Norman doorway and a 15th-century font. In the churchyard is a medieval churchyard cross which is believed to stand in its original position west of the tower. It is believed to have been restored in 1842 and is a scheduled monument.Thurlby Hall is a Grade II listed small country house dating from the early 18th century. The house was the home of the Bromhead baronets. Major Sir Edmund Gonville Bromhead (1791–1870) 3rd Baronet, was the father of Gonville Bromhead who won the Victoria Cross at the 1879 battle of Rorke's Drift in the Zulu War. Gonville Bromhead's older brother Benjamin Parnell Bromhead succeeded their father as 4th Baronet.

Swinderby is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The village is situated just north of the A46 road, 8 miles (13 km) south-west from Lincoln and 6 miles (10 km) north-east from Newark. Swinderby lies within a rural agricultural community and covers an area of 2,200 acres (9 km2). Village population is 773, reducing to 648 (including Morton Hall) at the 2011 census.

Barnby in the Willows is a village and civil parish in the Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire, England, just east of Newark-on-Trent. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 244, increasing to 272 at the 2011 Census. Just to the south of the village is the River Witham, which also forms the border with Lincolnshire here. There are five streets composing Barnby: Front Street, Dark Lane, Cross Lane, Long Lane and Back Lane. The parish church of All Saints consists of a chancel, nave and two aisles of the 13th century and a west tower which is 15th century. The altar rails are of the early 17th century.
