Western Carpathians

The Western Beskidian Foothills (Czech: Západobeskydské podhůří, Polish: Pogórze Zachodniobeskidzkie) is a geological region in the northeastern corner of the Czech Republic and extending into southern Poland. The relatively modest foothills are considered part of the Outer Western Carpathians.

Pustevny

Pustevny (1018 metres above sea level) is a mountain saddle in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids mountain range of the Czech Republic, not far from Radhošť, in the municipality of Prostřední Bečva. It was named after the Czech word for a hermit. Hermits lived here until the year 1874. For Pustevny, wooden buildings built in traditional folk style are typical. They were built and designed in the end of the 19th century by the architect Dušan Jurkovič. There is also a skiing area.

Beskydy Mountain Academy

Gymnázium Beskydy Mountain Academy is a private gymnasium in the Czech Republic. Located in the town of Frýdlant nad Ostravicí, it draws students from Frýdlant and neighboring towns such as Frýdek-Místek, Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, Ostravice, Metylovice, Hukvaldy and Čeladná, from the large cities of Ostrava and Havířov, and from more distant towns such as the border town of Třinec. It was founded in 2003.
