St Michael's Church, Coston

Coston is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Brandon Parva, Coston, Runhall and Welborne, in the South Norfolk district, in the county of Norfolk, England. The village is divided from nearby Runhall by the River Yare. In 1931 the parish had a population of 33.

Coston Fen, Runhall is a 7.1-hectare (18-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Dereham and Wymondham in Norfolk. It is part of the Norfolk Valley Fens Special Area of Conservation.This spring-fed site in the Yare valley has a variety of fen habitats, including a nationally rare calcareous mire community of fen flora. There are also areas of tall herbs, scrub and improved pasture.The site is private land with no public access.

Runhall is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Brandon Parva, Coston, Runhall and Welborne, in the South Norfolk district, in Norfolk, England. The parish covers an area of 11.98 km2 (4.63 sq mi) and had a population of 365 in 137 households at the 2001 census, including Welborne and increasing in the 2011 Census to a population of 401 in 148 households. The villages name origin is uncertain possibly, 'tree-trunk nook of land', 'Runa's nook of land', or perhaps, 'council's nook of land'. Its church, All Saints, is one of 124 existing round-tower churches in Norfolk.

Hardingham railway station is a railway station in the village of Hardingham in the English county of Norfolk. The station is periodically served by heritage services operated by the Mid-Norfolk Railway on the line from East Dereham to Wymondham.The former yard is now used by an independent rolling stock company, Great Eastern Traction Ltd., specialising in trading in industrial locomotives. Other items of privately owned rolling stock have also been preserved in the former station yard.

Kimberley is a village and civil parish in the South Norfolk district, in the county of Norfolk, England, situated about 3 miles (4.8 km) north-west of Wymondham, around the crossroads of the B1108 and B1135. The parish has an area of 9.33 km2 (3.60 sq mi) and had a total population of 121 in 52 households as of the 2001 census. The parish absorbed the parish of Carleton Forehoe on the 1 April 1935.The villages name means 'Cyneburg's wood/clearing', a feminine personal name. Kimberley is served by rail, as the Kimberley Park railway station is on the Mid-Norfolk Railway, which goes between Dereham and Wymondham. The River Tiffey flows through the village. Kimberley is home to Kimberley Hall, a house whose grounds were designed by Capability Brown. The Wodehouse family had owned land in Kimberley since the 1370s, and in c. 1400 John Wodehouse built Wodehouse Tower at the site of the later Kimberley Hall. John's son John Wodehouse Esq. distinguished himself in the Battle of Agincourt and was granted large estates by Henry V as a reward. Earl of Kimberley is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, created for John Wodehouse, 3rd Baron Wodehouse in 1866. The present holder of the title is John Wodehouse, 5th Earl of Kimberley.

Barnham Broom is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. The village is situated on the River Yare, 9 miles (15 km) West of Norwich.[1] and 4 miles (6 km) North-West of Wymondham. The villages name means 'Beorn's homestead/village' or perhaps, 'warrior's homestead/village'. The 'Broom' part was added in 1838. The civil parish has an area of 7.24 km2 and in the 2001 census had a population of 552 in 220 households, increasing to 590 at the 2011 Census and 670 in the 2021 census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of South Norfolk.[2]At the centre of the village, on the crossroads, lies Barnham Broom Post Office & Stores, providing local services to the community and visitors, and a hundred yards further along Bell Road can be found The Bell public house.The school, Barnham Broom CofE VA Primary School, is an 1847 flint building. The Parish Council is made up of 7 Councillors and meets on the third Thursday of every month except August and December.1-mile (1.6 km) NE of the village is Barnham Broom Hotel & Country Club, incorporating restaurant, two 18 hole golf courses, a leisure & fitness club and a hotel.

The Wymondham to Wells Branch was a railway built in stages by the Norfolk Railway, Eastern Counties Railway and Wells and Fakenham Company between 1847 and 1857. The railway ran from Wymondham in the south, through Dereham and Fakenham to the coastal town of Wells-next-the-Sea; more specifically, the line ran from Wymondham South Junction, where it met the present-day Breckland Line. Passenger services along the line lasted until 1969; the railway continued to be used for freight until 1989. The southern section of the railway now forms the Mid-Norfolk Railway, with part of the northern section serving as the narrow gauge Wells and Walsingham Light Railway.

The Mid-Norfolk Railway (MNR) is a 17+1⁄2 miles (28.2 km) preserved standard gauge heritage railway, one of the longest in Great Britain. Preservation efforts began in 1974, but the line re-opened to passengers only in the mid-1990s as part of the "new generation" of heritage railways. The MNR owns and operates most of the former Wymondham-Fakenham branch line of the Norfolk Railway. The branch opened in 1847, was closed to passengers in stages from 1964 to 1969 as part of the Beeching cuts, and was finally fully closed to goods traffic in 1989. (The northern section of this line, to Wells, was built by the Wells and Fakenham Railway and part of this has been operated by the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway since 1982.) Regular steam and diesel services run 11+1⁄2 miles (18.5 km) through the centre of Norfolk between the market towns of Wymondham and Dereham via Yaxham, Thuxton and Kimberley Park, and occasional sightseer services continue north of Dereham passing the nearby village of Hoe, where there is no station, to the limit of the operational line at Worthing. The line is periodically used for commercial freight operations and staff instruction for mainline railway companies. The company owns the line to a point just beyond County School railway station, which will make it the third longest heritage railway in England once restoration is complete. The MNR is owned and operated by the Mid-Norfolk Railway Preservation Trust (MNRPT, a charitable company limited by guarantee), and is mostly operated and staffed by volunteers. The railway is listed as exempt from the UK Railways (Interoperability) Regulations 2000.

Kimberley and Carleton Forehoe, formerly just Kimberley is a civil parish in the South Norfolk district, in the county of Norfolk, England. It encompasses the villages of Kimberley and Carleton Forehoe, covering an area of 9.33 km2 (3.60 sq mi). The parish had a total population of 121 in 52 households as of the 2001 census. On 1 April 1935 the parish of "Carleton Forehoe" was merged with Kimberley.
