Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands

The Punta de Melenara Lighthouse (Spanish: Faro de Punta de Melenara) also known as the Faro de Taliarte is an active 20th century lighthouse on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria in the Canary islands. The lighthouse has been constructed on Melenara Point, a rocky headland between the beaches of Playa del Hombre and Playa de Melenara, which lies next to the settlement of Taliarte and its port, in the municipality of Telde. Located on the eastern side of the island, the Punta de Melenara light marks the coastline between the La Isleta lighthouse of Las Palmas to the north and the Punta de Arinaga lighthouse to the south.

The Spanish Bank of Algae (BEA-Banco Español de Algas) is a national R&D service attached to the Marine Biotechnology Center (CBM-Centro de Biotecnología Marina) of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), which objectives are the isolation, identification, characterization, conservation and provisioning of microalgae and cyanobacteria. It was previously known as the National Bank of Algae (BNA).

The Lycée Français René-Verneau de Gran Canaria (Spanish: Liceo Francés de Gran Canaria) is a French international school in Telde, Gran Canaria, Spain. It was established in 1974 and has integrated the Mission laïque française (Mlf) in 1986. It serves levels maternelle (preschool) through terminale, the final year of lycée (senior high school) and it allows French, English and Spanish languages learning from preschool for all children. As of 2017 the school has about 400 students range from 3 to 18 years.

The Gando Air Base (in Spanish: Base Aérea de Gando) is a base of the Spanish Air and Space Force located in the Gran Canaria island, Spain, and next to the Gran Canaria Airport, eastward from its runways. Beyond several hangars opposite to the passenger terminal, the Gando Air Base contains ten shelters situated on the southern end of the eastern runway. They harbor the 46 Wing (Ala 46) which operates F/A-18 Hornet and CASA/IPTN CN-235 aircraft, and the SAR Eurocopter AS 532. The 46 Wing is composed of the 462 fighter (c. 22 F/A-18s) and 802 transport squadrons (3 CN-235 and 3 Cougar) and it defends the Spanish airspace around the Canary Islands. The 46th Wing is to convert from the F-18 Hornet to the Eurofighter Typhoon starting in 2026. The Gando Air Base is one of the biggest and most important air bases of the Spanish Air and Space Force and it is unique because of the wide variety of aircraft which it operates. Military activity was most intense during the mid-1970s, at the time of the crisis of decolonisation of Western Sahara and its occupation by Morocco. Military crises in Western Africa, like the 2013 Mali intervention by France, made Gando Air Base the main air platform for operations in Western Africa area by NATO. In 2006 Spain proposed Gando Air Base as headquarters for the newly created United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), but the AFRICOM HQ was ultimately based in Stuttgart, Germany. The Canary Islands Air Command (Mando Aéreo de Canarias – MACAN) is based in the city of Las Palmas. Canary Islands Air Command is the only territorial general Air Force Command in Spain; its mission is the maintenance, preparation and command of air units located in the Canary archipelago. Any Spanish military airplane that lands in the Canary Islands is immediately put at the disposal of the Canary Islands Air Command, who can retain it and use it as long as necessary for missions within the islands. This happens sometimes with heavy military transport, antisubmarine warfare and early warning airplanes, since the islands do not have these on a permanent basis. Once the plane is released by the Canary Islands Air Command, it can leave the Canary Islands and it reverts to the Air Force Commands of mainland Spain. The deployment base of Gando Air Base is the Lanzarote Military Airfield (Aeródromo Militar de Lanzarote). Lanzarote Military Airfield has its own permanent Air Force troops platoons and an air defence radar (the EVA 22, which covers the Eastern Canary Islands and the maritime area up to the Sahara), but it has no permanently based military planes, using the ones from Gando.

The Four Doors (in Spanish Cuatro Puertas) site, also known as Montaña Bermeja, 'Vermillion Mountain', is a complex of caves in the south of the municipality of Telde, Gran Canaria. The Cuatro Puertas site is named after its most spectacular cave, the most emblematic of Gran Canaria due to its uniqueness and location. The site includes many other caves, some linked with each other. A small village nearby also bears that name, as well as a ravine (barranco de Cuatro Puertas).The site is listed as Spanish Heritage as a Property of cultural interest.

Gran Canaria Airport (IATA: LPA, ICAO: GCLP) (Spanish: Aeropuerto de Gran Canaria) is a passenger and freight airport on the island of Gran Canaria. It is an important airport within the Spanish air-transport network (owned and managed by a public enterprise, AENA), as it holds the sixth position in terms of passengers, and fifth in terms of operations and cargo transported. It also ranks first of the Canary Islands in all three categories, although the island of Tenerife has higher passenger numbers overall if statistics from the two airports located on the island are combined. The facility covers 553 hectares (1,370 acres) of land and contains two 3,100m runways.The airport is located in the eastern part of Gran Canaria on the Bay of Gando (Bahía de Gando), 19 km (12 mi) to the south of Las Palmas, and 25 km (16 mi) from the popular tourist areas in the south. In 2014 it handled over 10.3 million passengers, ranking 1st in the Canary Islands and 5th in Spain by passenger traffic. Gran Canaria Airport is an important hub for passengers travelling to West Africa (Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Cape Verde, among others), and to the Atlantic Isles of Madeira and the Azores. It serves as base for Binter Canarias, Canaryfly, Ryanair, Norwegian Air Shuttle and Vueling. Other airlines use it as a base to operate charter flights to Cape Verde and Gambia (TUI fly Deutschland and TUI fly Nordic), but only in the winter.

The British School of Gran Canaria is a British international school on Gran Canaria in Spain. It consists of two campuses: the Tafira School in Las Palmas and the South School in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. It serves levels infants through sixth form college.It was founded in 1966.

The American School of Las Palmas (ASLP, Spanish: Colegio Americano de Las Palmas) is an American international school in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain. It serves levels nursery through grade twelve.

The Bandama Natural Monument is part of the Tafira Protected Landscape on the island of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands, Spain. It is considered a point of geological interest, because of the Caldera de Bandama. This volcanic crater, which is geologically a maar rather than a caldera, reaches 569 m (1,867 ft) above sea level at the highest point on its rim, Pico de Bandama, and is about 1,000 m (3,300 ft) wide and 200 m (700 ft) deep. The crater was developed during the last heavy eruptions 2000 years ago. It is recorded as the most recent volcanic activity on Gran Canaria.The bottom of the caldera contains volcanic ash of different colors, and some botanic species of Canary Islands origin. An endemic bush can be found inside the caldera that doesn't grow anywhere else; Dama de Bandama (parolinia grabiuscula). The Caldera de Bandama is located at the meeting point of three municipalities: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Brígida and Telde.

Valsequillo de Gran Canaria is a town and a municipality in the eastern part of the island of Gran Canaria in the Province of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Its population is 9,170 (2013), and the area is 39.15 km².Valsequillo is situated in the mountains, 5 km west of Telde and 16 km southwest of Las Palmas.

The Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria (Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria) is a teaching hospital of general scope in Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain). Located in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, it was founded 13 February 1971 and consists in Februar 2021 of 503 beds. The first patient was hospitalized 20 September 1971.The hospital is managed by the Canarian Government via the Servicio Canario de Salud (Canary Health Service) and is geared to health care in the south and east of Gran Canaria (Telde, Valsequillo, Ingenio, Agüimes, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Mogán and the south of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria). It is also the referral hospital of Fuerteventura and a referral hospital in some specialities of the Canary Islands.

St. Ignatius of Loyola College (Spanish: Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola) is a private Catholic primary and secondary school with middle school technical training, located on Las Palmas, in Gran Canaria, in the autonomous community of the Canary Islands, Spain. The school was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1917, and has grown to cover infant through baccalaureate and middle technical training. The school is located in the old part of the city. It accommodates from first year of infant education through baccalaureate and professional training of middle degree.
