Subprefecture of Jaçanã-Tremembé

Jaçanã (Portuguese pronunciation: [ʒasɐˈnɐ̃]) is a district of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It constitutes with Tremembé the subprefecture Jaçanã-Tremembé, marking the northern boundaries of the city.Like Parelheiros, most of the area of this borough is rural, although in the southern areas there is an urban area. It contains the Cantareira Park, the largest native urban forest in the world. In 1870, the borough was known as Uroguapira because it was thought that there was gold (Portuguese ouro) in the area. As this was only a rumor, the name given by the aboriginal people for the region of the Cantareira was shortened to Guapira. On 1 June 1930, the name of the borough was changed to Jaçanã (a bird known in English as the wattled jacana). The borough of Jaçanã became known not only in São Paulo, but also in diverse parts of Brazil because of the music "Trem das Onze", by Adoniran Barbosa. In 1949 Jaçanã became the site of the first film studio of São Paulo: the Cinematographic Company Maristela, the main cultural focus of the borough. Located in the north of the city of São Paulo, the district of Jaçanã, according to Census 2000, carried out for the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), has a population of approximately 91,649 inhabitants: 43,702 men and 47,947 women.

Parada Inglesa is a metro station on São Paulo Metro Line 1-Blue, located in the district of Tucuruvi, in São Paulo. Belongs to the Line 1 north expansion plan, initiated in 1996. It would be named Paulicéia Station, according to the original project. It was opened on 29 April 1998, along with stations Jardim São Paulo-Ayrton Senna and Tucuruvi. The project of the station was one of the awarded in the 5th Architecture Biennal of Buenos Aires, in the category Prémio Especial Del Jurado (Special Jury Award).

The Municipal Conservatory of Guarulhos is a public educational institution of study and training of music, managed by the municipal government of the city of Guarulhos in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It was opened by Governor Mário Covas on 29 April 1998, along with stations Tucuruvi and Parada Inglesa, in the Line 1 north expansion project, initiated in 1996.

The Subprefecture of Vila Maria-Vila Guilherme is one of 32 subprefectures of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. Dona Joaninha or Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana 6 is a steam locomotive (with the uncommon 2-6-4 wheel arrangement) that is now on static display in Guarulhos, State of São Paulo, Brazil. Constructed in 1940, it was used to move sugar cane across Brazil until the 1960s. A scrap dealer purchased it around 1976, and it was then put on static display around 2000. After falling into disrepair, it was restored in 2020.
