Subprefecture of Jaçanã-Tremembé

Jaçanã (Portuguese pronunciation: [ʒasɐˈnɐ̃]) is a district of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It constitutes with Tremembé the subprefecture Jaçanã-Tremembé, marking the northern boundaries of the city.Like Parelheiros, most of the area of this borough is rural, although in the southern areas there is an urban area. It contains the Cantareira Park, the largest native urban forest in the world. In 1870, the borough was known as Uroguapira because it was thought that there was gold (Portuguese ouro) in the area. As this was only a rumor, the name given by the aboriginal people for the region of the Cantareira was shortened to Guapira. On 1 June 1930, the name of the borough was changed to Jaçanã (a bird known in English as the wattled jacana). The borough of Jaçanã became known not only in São Paulo, but also in diverse parts of Brazil because of the music "Trem das Onze", by Adoniran Barbosa. In 1949 Jaçanã became the site of the first film studio of São Paulo: the Cinematographic Company Maristela, the main cultural focus of the borough. Located in the north of the city of São Paulo, the district of Jaçanã, according to Census 2000, carried out for the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), has a population of approximately 91,649 inhabitants: 43,702 men and 47,947 women.

Tucuruvi is a metro station on São Paulo Metro Line 1-Blue, located in the district of Tucuruvi in São Paulo. It was opened on 29 April 1998, as part of the Line 1 north expansion plan.

Parada Inglesa is a metro station on São Paulo Metro Line 1-Blue, located in the district of Tucuruvi, in São Paulo. Belongs to the Line 1 north expansion plan, initiated in 1996. It would be named Paulicéia Station, according to the original project. It was opened on 29 April 1998, along with stations Jardim São Paulo-Ayrton Senna and Tucuruvi. The project of the station was one of the awarded in the 5th Architecture Biennal of Buenos Aires, in the category Prémio Especial Del Jurado (Special Jury Award).

Guarulhos (Portuguese pronunciation: [ɡwaˈɾuʎus]) is a Brazilian municipality. It is the second most populous city in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, the 13th most populous city in Brazil, and is also the most populous city in the country that is not a state capital. In the last few years it has outgrown Campinas. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. Its population is 1,291,784 with an area of 318.68 km2.

Jardim São Paulo–Ayrton Senna, originally known only as Jardim São Paulo, is a metro station on São Paulo Metro Line 1-Blue, located in the district of Santana, in São Paulo. It was opened by Governor Mário Covas on 29 April 1998, along with stations Tucuruvi and Parada Inglesa, in the Line 1 north expansion project, initiated in 1996.

The Subprefecture of Vila Maria-Vila Guilherme is one of 32 subprefectures of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It comprises three districts: Vila Maria, Vila Guilherme, and Vila Medeiros.This is the subprefecture where are the roads for Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and the São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport (in the neighbouring municipality of Guarulhos), thus forming an important logistic hub of the city, hosting many transport and storage companies.

Dona Joaninha or Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana 6 is a steam locomotive (with the uncommon 2-6-4 wheel arrangement) that is now on static display in Guarulhos, State of São Paulo, Brazil. Constructed in 1940, it was used to move sugar cane across Brazil until the 1960s. A scrap dealer purchased it around 1976, and it was then put on static display around 2000. After falling into disrepair, it was restored in 2020.

Alto de Santana (Santana Heights) is a name commonly used, especially by business, to refer to an upper middle class area of Santana district in São Paulo city, Brazil. The term is used informally to refer to the bairro of Vila Santana (Santana Village) and the elevated region of the Santana bairro. Among the major routes that pass through the region are: Voluntários da Pátria street, Francisca Júlia street, Pedro Doll street, Doutor Guilherme Cristoffel street and Doutor Luis Lustosa da Silva street. In Alto de Santana is located the Baruel Mansion, an old castle founded in the 19th century. The region is classified by CRECI (Federal Council of Real Estate) as Value of Zone B like other upper middle class areas of the capital: Brooklin, Cerqueira César e Paraíso.

Baruel Mansion (Portuguese: Palacete Baruel) is a mansion built in the 19th century, located in Alto de Santana, northern area of São Paulo city. The construction had been the headquarters of the Baruel estate, a farm where rice, beans, corn and sugarcane were grown with slave labour. The wealth of the owner is perceived in the buildings that make up the area.The estate was 24,250 square metres (261,000 sq ft) in area, and after the death of Mr. Baruel the property was divided and sold in lots. The farm included the house of Dona Maria, daughter of Mr. Baruel, built in 1925, which today houses the Narbal Fontes Library. The Baruel were a traditional and influential family of Santana. Near the farm, in the current Voluntários da Pátria street is located in the Chapel of Santa Cruz, built in 1895 by Pedro Doll and the Baruel family. Built in the Norman style, the mansion is considered a historic site, it saves time and remnants of the neighbourhood. It has never been inhabited. Currently the building is a physiotherapy clinic.
