Preston Deanery is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Hackleton, in the West Northamptonshire district, in the ceremonial county of Northamptonshire, England. It is 4 miles (6 km) south of Northampton town centre and 1.5 miles (2 km) by road to the M1 London to Yorkshire motorway junction 15. It lies just off the B526 road (former A50) from Northampton to Newport Pagnell, between Hackleton and Wootton, a former village which has become now a suburb of Northampton. The 2010 population estimate was 51.The village's name means 'Priests' farm/settlement'. The hamlet gave its name to the deanery here.

Northampton was a rural district in Northamptonshire, England from 1894 to 1974. It was created under the Local Government Act 1894 based on the Northampton rural sanitary district. In 1932, under a County Review order, it took in the disbanded Hardingstone Rural District and two parishes from Pottersbury Rural District. The district was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972. Part of it was added to the new Northampton district, with the rest going to form the new district of South Northamptonshire.

It is in the south of Northamptonshire, just north of Buckinghamshire. It is 6 miles (10 km) south of Northampton town centre, in a cul-de-sac off the main road at the War Memorial in the village of Hackleton, and about 1 mile (2 km) south-west of there. It has a geographic size of 1,693 acres (6.85 km2) and an average height of 300 ft (91 m), rising steadily to 400 ft (120 m) in Salcey Forest. In 1931 the parish had a population of 342.

London is 62 miles (100 km) south via junction 14 and 47 miles (76 km) southeast of Birmingham via junction 15. It lies on the busy B526 road (former A50) from Northampton to Newport Pagnell, between Horton and Wootton. The parish area is about 1,030 acres (420 ha). The villages name means 'Farm/settlement connected with Haeccel'.

Caroline Chisholm School is a mixed all-through school with academy status, in Wootton, south Northampton, England. It is named after Caroline Chisholm, a 19th-century social reformer. The principal is David James. The school was built in 15 months and cost £25 million. The school added its final year, Year 13, in September 2008. In 2005, admission arrangements were changed to give siblings of existing students at the school greater priority for places.

Great Houghton is a village near Northampton in West Northamptonshire. The population of the civil parish at the 2021 census was 651. It lies on the edge of the large market town, on the Bedford Road (A428). The village has two pubs and a large village hall and playing fields. The village was also the home of Great Houghton School, a private day school which closed in 2014.The villages name means 'hill-spur farm/settlement'.The village was struck by an F1/T2 tornado on 23 November 1981, as part of the record-breaking nationwide tornado outbreak on that day.

The village's name means 'Hearding's Thorn-tree'. The parish includes part of the Brackmills Industrial Estate, and borders Delapré Abbey.

Wootton is a former village about 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Northampton town centre that is now part of Northampton. Wootton is separated from Hardingstone by the Newport Pagnell Road the B526, formerly part of the A50 road. Part of Wootton is alongside the A45 dual carriageway from the M1 to Wellingborough which is seen and heard from that part of the area.
