Abington Meadows is a 9.6-hectare (24-acre) nature reserve in Northampton. It is owned by Northamptonshire County Council and managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.This is marshy grassland which has diverse wildlife. 421 species of invertebrates have been recorded, and flora include great burnet, purple loosestrife and the nationally rare pennyroyal. There are birds such as snipe.There is access from Weston Mill Lane and the Nene Way footpath.

Abington Vale is an area of Northampton in Northamptonshire, England. Abington Vale lies just to the north of the A45 road and the River Nene; Abington Vale is about 2 miles (3.2 km) north-east from the centre of Northampton. To the south of Abington Vale is the Nene Valley Gravel Pits which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) as well as being a Special Protection Area. To the east is Billing Aquadrome.There was an old school called Abington vale middle school nearby that opened in 1970. It closed in 2006 for an unknown reason.

Little Houghton is a village and civil parish in Northamptonshire, England, located about 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Northampton. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 367 people, increasing to 412 at the 2011 census.The villages name means 'hill-spur farm/settlement'.The Church of England parish church is dedicated to St Mary the Virgin. Just off the A428 road between Bedford and Northampton, the village overlooks old gravel pits, (now converted to reservoirs) and a canal. Just across the valley is Billing Aquadrome. In the village is Little Houghton House a Grade II-Listed Manor House with roots back to 1685.To the north at Clifford Hill by the river Nene is the surviving motte of Little Houghton Castle.

Northampton was a rural district in Northamptonshire, England from 1894 to 1974. It was created under the Local Government Act 1894 based on the Northampton rural sanitary district. In 1932, under a County Review order, it took in the disbanded Hardingstone Rural District and two parishes from Pottersbury Rural District. The district was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972. Part of it was added to the new Northampton district, with the rest going to form the new district of South Northamptonshire.

The Nene Whitewater Centre was the UK's first pumped artificial whitewater course. It is located on the River Nene in Northampton. The 300m course was designed by slalom designers, Proper Channels Ltd and built in 1999 by Wrekin Construction. Water can be partially diverted around a weir via an automatically controlled sluice gate. Additionally, three individually controlled electric pumps allow the centre to pump water from below the weir into the course. The course can be configured to cater for novices, or intermediates.

Preston Deanery is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Hackleton, in the West Northamptonshire district, in the ceremonial county of Northamptonshire, England. It is 4 miles (6 km) south of Northampton town centre and 1.5 miles (2 km) by road to the M1 London to Yorkshire motorway junction 15. It lies just off the B526 road (former A50) from Northampton to Newport Pagnell, between Hackleton and Wootton, a former village which has become now a suburb of Northampton. The 2010 population estimate was 51.The village's name means 'Priests' farm/settlement'. The hamlet gave its name to the deanery here.

St Peter and St Paul's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the hamlet of Preston Deanery, Northamptonshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. Although the church is not open for regular worship, it still hosts occasional special services, such as Pentecost and Christmas services for the Living Brook Benefice.

The population of the ward of Northampton Borough Council at the 2011 census was 9,668.The name 'Abington' means 'Farm/settlement connected with Abba'.Originally a small village outside the borough boundary of Northampton, Abington is mentioned in The Domesday Book. In the 17th century the village was enclosed and depopulated. The outlines of the village's streets can still be seen as can the village's fishpond (although this is now a garden) in Abington Park. The park was given to the town by the Wantage family in the 19th century. The area known as Abington became part of the borough of Northampton in the late 19th century as the town expanded. Its close location to Abington Park causes this to be a highly sought-after residential area. Abington has often been described as "the Greenwich Village of Northampton."The Wellingborough Road (locally known as the "Welly Rd") passes through the centre of Abington containing many restaurants, pubs and supermarkets and is the heartbeat of the area. St Edmunds Hospital was once open on the Wellingborough Road before being closed in 1997 and demolished to make way for new development. Housing is mixed with former warehouses becoming converted flats, terraced housing and council housing. Wantage Road in Abington is home to Northamptonshire County Cricket Club and was formerly the home of Northampton Town Football Club on Abington Avenue before the club moved to Sixfields in modern premises west of the town.

The Northampton Balloon Festival is an annual hot air balloon festival held in Northampton, England. The original festival was held in The Racecourse and managed by the (now defunct) Borough Council, and took place over a Friday, Saturday and Sunday in mid-August. The main features of the festival were the twice-daily hot air balloon lifts and a balloon glow, but other attractions included trade stalls, live music and arena entertainment.
