Clench, Wiltshire

Martinsell Hill, near Oare and north of Pewsey, is the third highest point in the county of Wiltshire, southwest England, at some 289 m / 948 ft above sea level. It is the site of an Iron Age hillfort.

Wootton Rivers is a small village and civil parish in the Vale of Pewsey, Wiltshire, England. The village lies about 3 miles (5 km) northeast of Pewsey and 4 miles (6 km) south of Marlborough. During the 20th century its population halved and most of its facilities closed. The parish includes the hamlet of Cuckoo's Knob.

Wootton Rivers Bottom Lock was built during the canal's construction between 1794 and 1810. The lock has a rise/fall of 8 ft 0 in (2.43 m). The parish of Wootton Rivers has three more locks upstream: Heathy Close, Brimslade, and Wootton Top Lock. The lock and its road bridge are Grade II listed.

Wootton Rivers Halt railway station is a former railway station in Wootton Rivers, Wiltshire, England, on the Reading to Taunton line. The station opened in 1928 at the south end of the village, near the south bank of the Kennet and Avon Canal, and closed in 1966.

Heathy Close Lock is a canal lock on the Kennet and Avon Canal, at Wootton Rivers, Wiltshire, England. The lock has a rise/fall of 8 ft 1 in (2.46 m).

Milton Lilbourne is a village and civil parish in the county of Wiltshire, England, in the Vale of Pewsey between Pewsey and Burbage. It is largely a mixed residential area centred on the Manor. The nearest town is Marlborough, 5.5 miles (8.9 km) to the north. The parish includes the following hamlets: Clench – to the north, near Wootton Rivers Fyfield with Fyfield Manor – west, near Pewsey (not to be confused with the village of Fyfield near Marlborough) Little Salisbury – west, on the Pewsey-Burbage road Littleworth – north, on the other side of the Pewsey-Burbage road Milkhouse Water, formerly Milcot Water – northwest, by the Avon New Mill – north, also by the AvonThe parish is unusual in that it has a long thin shape and is one of the few to have boundaries on the uplands to both south and north of the Vale. The southern boundary passes by a long barrow and the northern one abuts the prehistoric fort on Martinsell Hill.

Fyfield is a small hamlet about 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Pewsey, Wiltshire, England. It is to be distinguished from the larger village of Fyfield, three miles west of Marlborough, also in Wiltshire; the two places are only about six miles apart. It should also be distinguished from the hamlet of Fifield, in Enford parish about six miles south of Pewsey. Fyfield is a tithing of the parish of Milton Lilbourne. It is typical of the strip tithings on the northern edge of Salisbury Plain: it extends from the greensand on the valley floor to the chalk downland of Fyfield Hill (confusingly also known as Fyfield Down, but to be distinguished from Fyfield Down on the Marlborough Downs, near the other Fyfield). Fyfield Manor has parts which date back to the 15th century and is Grade I listed. It was the home of Sir Anthony Eden in the 1960s, then sold in 1966 to Charles Morrison.

Jones's Mill (grid reference SU168613) is an 11.6 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Pewsey in Wiltshire, notified in 1975. The site is managed as a nature reserve by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.

Brimslade Lock is on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Wootton Rivers, Wiltshire, England. The lock has a rise/fall of 8 ft 0 in (2.43 m) and was built c.1810. Bridge 106 is at the lower end of the lock. The lock and bridge are Grade II listed structures.

Brimslade House is a former farmhouse in Brimslade, Wootton Rivers, Wiltshire, England.The house is from the 16th or 17th century, with later additions. The ground floor is in brick while the upper floor is of timber-framed construction with tile cladding. In 1987 the house was designated as Grade II* listed.

Easton Royal is a village in the civil parish of Easton in Wiltshire, England, about 3 miles (5 km) east of Pewsey and 5 miles (8 km) south of Marlborough. The village was the location of Easton Priory from 1234 to 1536. The village mistakenly gained the Royal suffix in 1838 and the name Easton Royal has been in general use since the 1850s.The parish is on the northeastern edge of Salisbury Plain, and near the eastern end of the Vale of Pewsey.

The lock and bridge are Grade II listed structures.East of this lock is the summit of the canal, at 450 ft (137 m) above sea level. Downstream in the same parish are the locks of Brimslade, Heathy Close, and Wootton Rivers Bottom.
