Cleveland Township is one of fourteen non-functioning county subdivisions (townships) in Rowan County, North Carolina that were established in 1868. The township had a population of 2,817 according to the 2010 census. The only incorporated municipality in Cleveland Township is the town of Cleveland. Residents are served by the Rowan–Salisbury School System and the township is home to Mt Ulla Elementary School.

Knox-Johnstone House, also known as Ben Allen Knox House, is a historic home located near Cleveland, Rowan County, North Carolina. It was built about 1880, and is a two-story weatherboarded frame farmhouse with Italianate-style finish. It has a projecting center, entrance bay, and a nearly full-facade porch. Also on the property is the contributing large bell-cast gambrel roof barn dated to the 1930s.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

R.A. Clement School is a historic school located at Cleveland, Rowan County, North Carolina. The H-shaped brick building was built in 1929 as a Rosenwald school. Rufus Alexander Clement, born a slave in 1847, helped to get the school built along with his wife Emma. Four teachers taught African-American students in eleven grades. For the twelfth grade students went to J. C. Price High School in Salisbury. The school closed in 1968, after which a group later known as West Rowan Neighborhood Center Advisory Council bought the building and made it a community center. Eventually, the advisory council could not keep the property, which stood empty until 2003 when the alumni association purchased it and started renovations.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places January 10, 2019.

Christ Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church complex located near Cleveland, Rowan County, North Carolina, USA. The complex includes the 1826-1827 gable-front vernacular Gothic Revival- and American Craftsman-style brick veneered, heavy timber frame chapel; a 1926 Craftsman-style parish house attached to the original building by an open brick arcaded breezeway; and a historic cemetery.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

The Jacob Phifer House was built in the 1850s, and is a two-story, rectangular, weatherboarded log dwelling. The oldest building is the John Phifer House, built about 1819, and is a small two-story log dwelling. Other contributing resources are the double-pen log barn (c. 1858), tool shed (1930s), garage (1920s / 1930s), granary and corn crib (c. 1858), spring house (c. 1930), blacksmith shop (c. 1925), two chicken houses (1930s, c. 1940), log chicken coop (1930s), wood shed (c. 1930), smokehouse (c. 1858), privy (c. 1930), scalding vat (c. 1935), log tobacco barn (c. 1895), and the farm landscape.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Scotch Irish Township is one of fourteen townships in Rowan County, North Carolina, United States. The township had a population of 1,820 according to the 2010 census. By the requirements of the North Carolina Constitution of 1868, all counties in North Carolina were divided into townships.Geographically, Scotch Irish Township occupies 35.22 square miles (91.2 km2) in northwestern Rowan County. There are no incorporated municipalities in Scotch Irish Township. The township's northern boundary is the South Yadkin River and borders with Davie County and its western border is with Cool Springs Township, Iredell County. Residents are served by the Rowan–Salisbury School System.

The house was built about 1822, and is a two-story, three-bay, Federal style frame dwelling. It is sheathed in weatherboard and has a full-width, one-story shed roofed porch. The house was designated a post office in 1822. Also on the property are the contributing log smokehouse, large barn (c. 1898), "lighthouse" or Delco house (c. 1917), corn crib (c. 1917), gear house (c. 1917), woodhouse (c. 1917), spring house, mill site, shop, and plantation office.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Jacob Barber House was built about 1855, and is a two-story, single-pile, three-bay vernacular Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It has a one-story rear ell and a one-story shed roofed rear porch. Its builder James Graham also built the Robert Knox House and the Hall Family House. Other contributing resources are the cow barn (c. 1947), smokehouse (c. 1880 / 1940s), granary (c. 1855), double crib log barn (c. 1855), well house (c. 1940), log corn crib / barn (c. 1855 / 1940), carriage house (c. 1890), school (c. 1910), Edward W. Barber House (1870s), Edward W. Barber Well House (1870s), North Carolina Midland Railroad Right-of-Way (c. 1899), and the agricultural landscape.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Waddle–Click Farm is a historic home and farm complex located near Statesville, Iredell County, North Carolina. The Federal style house was built between about 1820 and 1835, and is a two-story, three bay by two bay, log dwelling. Also on the property are a contributing well house, smokehouse, log slave cabin, granary / corn crib, hay barn / stable, and a shed.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Other contributing resources are the log corn crib, reaper shed (c. 1870-1880), power plan (c. 1945), chicken house (c. 1930), brooder house (c. 1930), log smokehouse, barn (c. 1839-1845), main barn (1916), milking parlor (1948), spring house (18th century), tenant house (1920), and Knox Chapel Methodist Church (1870s).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
