Cockersand Abbey is a former abbey and former civil parish near Cockerham in the City of Lancaster district of Lancashire, England. It is situated near the mouth of the River Cocker.

The River Cocker is a river in Lancashire, England. The River Cocker rises near to Yeat House Farm and Higher Knowe Hill south of Quernmore, near Lancaster. It runs south westerly through Cocker Clough Wood and Brunstow Wood, then by Hampson Green, before briefly turning north west when joined by Potters Brook at the hamlet of Potters Brook close to the M6 motorway , where it is channeled under the Lancaster Canal. The river then skirts south around Cockerham, by Little Crimbles before being swollen by Park Lane Brook and Lee Brook and flowing into saltflats below Cockersand Abbey on the Lune estuary. The river is, approximately 17.5 km (10.9 miles) in length.Cockerham Marsh is a designated SSSI and the Cocker Estuary is a favoured overwintering site of migratory pink-footed goose, which can be seen in flocks of over one thousand, at times. It is also nationally important for other winter seabirds, including oystercatcher, turnstone, grey plover, knot, curlew, common redshank and dunlin. In summer, it hosts impressive numbers of ringed plover.

Sambo's Grave is the burial site of a black cabin boy or slave on unconsecrated ground in a field near the small village of Sunderland Point, Lancashire, England. Sunderland Point was a port, serving cotton, sugar and slave ships from the West Indies and North America, which declined after Glasson Dock was opened in 1787. It is a very small community only accessible via a narrow road, which crosses a salt marsh and is cut off at high tide.

Sunderland, commonly known as Sunderland Point, is a small village among the marshes, on a windswept peninsula between the mouth of the River Lune and Morecambe Bay, in the City of Lancaster district of Lancashire, England. It was used as a port for slave ships and cotton ships but its importance declined as other ports such as Lancaster were opened up. Strictly speaking, "Sunderland Point" is the name of the tip of the peninsula on which the village of Sunderland stands, but the name is frequently applied to the village itself.

Glasson Dock, also known as Glasson, is a village in Lancashire, England, south of Lancaster at the mouth of the River Lune. In 2011, it had a population of around 600.

The A588 is a road in England which runs from Poulton-le-Fylde to Lancaster in Lancashire. It is the main route serving the Over Wyre areas of the Fylde. The road runs a total distance of 20 miles (32 km), in a roughly north-easterly direction, and is largely rural in character. It begins at a junction with the A586 in Poulton-le-Fylde (53.8436°N 2.9922°W / 53.8436; -2.9922 (A588 road (southern end))), and runs 1 mile (2 km) north-east, through Queen's Square, before becoming Breck Road. It meets the A585 eastbound at the River Wyre roundabout. After sharing with the A585 as Mains Lane for 0.5 miles (0.8 km), it turns north (left) away from the A585, crossing the River Wyre at Shard Bridge, the last crossing of the river before its estuary. From here the road winds through the Over-Wyre villages of Hambleton, Stalmine and Pilling and across the marshy land that abuts the Cockerham Sands portion of Morecambe Bay. At Cockerham, almost 12 miles (19 km) from Shard Bridge, the road turns to the left, and, as Lancaster Road, runs a further 6 miles (10 km) north into Lancaster, eventually terminating as it joins the A6 by the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (54.0416°N 2.7969°W / 54.0416; -2.7969 (A588 road (northern end))).

Christ Church is in the village of Glasson, Lancashire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Lancaster and Morecambe, the archdeaconry of Lancaster, and the diocese of Blackburn. Its benefice is combined with those of St Michael, Cockerham, and St Luke, Winmarleigh. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.
