Stollenbach (Black Forest)

The Toter Mann ("Dead Man") is a mountain, 1,320.7 m above sea level (NHN) high, in the Southern Black Forest in Baden-Württemberg. It lies southeast of Freiburg im Breisgau in the municipality of Oberried.

The Erlenbacher Hut (German: Erlenbacher Hütte) is an inn and cattle hut (Almhütte) on the Erlenbach stream (about 1,100 m above NN) in the Black Forest in Germany.

The Alpine Path (German: Alpine Pfad or Alpine Steig) is one of the highest hiking trails in the Black Forest. Between Hüttenwasen and Stübenwasen the path runs largely horizontally across the rocky northern mountainside of the Feldberg in southern Germany. The trail is 3½ kilometres long and was abandoned by the forestry authorities in order to encourage the development of nature.

The Zastler Hut (German: Zastler Hütte) is a managed mountain hut situated at a height of 1,256 m above NHN in the Black Forest in Germany. It is located in the Zastler Loch northwest of the Feldberg summit, the highest peak in the Black Forest and state of Baden-Württemberg.

The Stübenwasen (1,386 m above sea level (NHN)) is the sixth highest mountain in the Black Forest after the Feldberg (1,493 m above NHN), Baldenweger Buck (1,461 m above NHN), Seebuck (1,448 m above NHN), Herzogenhorn (1,415 m above NHN) and the Belchen (1,414 m above NHN). It is the highest point on the ridge between Schauinsland and Feldberg and is only separated from the latter by a wide saddle. To the north is the St. Wilhelm Valley, to the south the Wiesental with Todtnau and Todtnauberg.

At 1,493 metres (4,898 ft) the Feldberg in the Black Forest is the highest mountain in Baden-Württemberg, and the highest in Germany outside of the Alps and Bavaria. The local municipality of Feldberg was named after the mountain.

The Hinterwaldkopf is a mountain, 1,198.2 m above sea level (NHN), in the Southern Black Forest in Germany. It lies in the southeastern part of the catchment area of the Dreisam east of Freiburg im Breisgau between Kirchzarten and Hinterzarten. To the north it is bounded by the Höllental valley, to the south by the Zastler valley. Nearby settlements include Kirchzarten, Oberried (Breisgau), Falkensteig (part of Buchenbach) and Hinterzarten. The characteristic outline of the Hinterwaldkopf is a symbol of the Dreisam valley. Its open summit region offers views over the valley to the Kandel. A trail managed by the Black Forest Club runs over the mountain.

The Zastler Loch or Zastler Cirque (German: Zastlerkar) on the northern side of the Feldberg summit in the Black Forest is the highest cirque in the German Central Uplands. It forms the head of the Zastler valley, through which the Zastlerbach stream flows northwards into the Dreisam.

The Baldenweger Buck is a mountain top, 1,460.5 m above sea level (NHN), in the Black Forest around 900 metres northeast of the Feldberg summit. The bare ridge drops steeply towards the west, north and east into the surrounding valleys of the Zastlerbach and Seebach. Only towards the south does it transition into a shallow saddle (1,452.8 m) that links the Baldenweger Buck with the Feldberg top. With its low isolation of 520 metres and a prominence of only 7.7 metres to the Feldberg, the Baldenweger Buck is not considered to be an independent eminence, but a subpeak of the Feldberg. As a result, the second highest summit in the Black Forest is usually seen as the lower, but more prominent, Seebuck. A waymarked footpath runs over the Baldenweger Buck from the Rinken via the Baldenweger Hut to the summit of the Feldberg.

Oberried is a town in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. Oberried is home to the Barbarastollen caves, the central safekeeping archive of Germany. The Barbarastollen holds microfilms with millions of images from German archives and museums.

The Barbarastollen underground archive is an underground archive intended to preserve Germany’s cultural heritage from man-made or natural disaster. The Barbarastollen is located in a disused mine near Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It holds microfilms with about 1.12 billion images from German archives and museums.Among the documents stored here in microfilm facsimile are: treaty text of the Peace of Westphalia Bull by Pope Leo X threatening Martin Luther with excommunication coronation document of Otto I documents of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe original building plans for Cologne Cathedral. German Basic LawThe Barbarastollen tunnel is protected by the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict of UNESCO. It is a "refuge intended to shelter, in the event of armed conflict, the movable cultural property" according to article 1 sub-paragraph b. It is furthermore the only cultural property in Germany under special protection according to Chapter II of the convention, and one of only five such sites worldwide, the others being the Vatican City and three refuges in the Netherlands. It is named after Saint Barbara. The entire complex is buried under 400 meters of rock. It is intended to survive a nuclear war. It is estimated that its contents should survive for at least 500 years without any serious damage.

Bubenstein Castle (German: Ruine Bubenstein), also called New Falkenstein Castle (Neu-Falkenstein), is a ruined spur castle at 560 m above sea level (NN) on a rock spur on the northern side of the Höllental valley, about 500 metres west of Old Falkenstein Castle above the village of Falkensteig in the municipality of Buchenbach in the county of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in the southwest German state of Baden-Württemberg.
