Piddington, Buckinghamshire

Piddington and Wheeler End is a small civil parish within Wycombe District Council, Buckinghamshire, England. Within the parish are the main hamlets of Piddington and Wheeler End. The total voting population of the parish is 630.The parish council administers the common land in both villages including three popular allotment sites. It is also responsible for the war memorial at Wheeler End. The parish council together with the village hall publish a quarterly newsletter which goes out to the entire parish.

Wheeler End is a hamlet in the parish of Piddington and Wheeler End, in Buckinghamshire, England. The hamlet is located close to the main A40 between West Wycombe and Stokenchurch. The hamlet name refers to the Wheeler family, who lived here. They were once the main brewers of High Wycombe. The hamlet itself however, is much older, dating back to the Anglo-Saxon period. Wheeler End is a collection of terraced houses and free standing properties surrounding the village common. The Common and most of the arable land surrounding the properties in the hamlet are owned by the West Wycombe Estates of Sir Edward Dashwood, Bt. There are no shops in Wheeler End, the nearest shops being either in West Wycombe or in Lane End. There is one public house in Wheeler End, The Chequers Inn.

Lane End is a village and civil parish in Buckinghamshire, England. It is just south of the M40 from High Wycombe, about 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Booker. The village is twinned with Saint-Pierre-d'Oléron in France. The village is situated in the Chilterns, around 650 feet (200 m) above sea level, in rolling hills of farmland, beech woods and footpaths. The civil parish includes the hamlets of Cadmore End, Ditchfield, Moor Common and Moor End, and had a population of 3,583 at the 2001 Census.

Buttlers Hangings is a 3.9-hectare (9.6-acre) Site of Special Scientific Interest north of West Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. It is in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.The site is steeply sloping grassland and scrub which has a wide variety of plant species. There are many rabbit burrows and a badger sett. Invertebrates include colonies of chalkland butterflies and four endangered Red Book spiders. Other insects include yellow meadow ants, thorn-hoppers and a rare weevil, Ceutorhynchus unguicularis. Fourteen snail species have been recorded.There is access by footpaths from West Wycombe Hill and Slough Lane.

Wycombe District was a local government district in Buckinghamshire in south-central England. Its council was based in the town of High Wycombe. The district was abolished on 31 March 2020 and its area is now administered by the unitary Buckinghamshire Council. It had introduced locality budgets before October 2013.

Bottom Wood is a 14.5-hectare (36-acre) woodland in the English county of Buckinghamshire, located just north of the A40 near the hamlet of Studley Green. Since 1984, the wood has been owned by the Chiltern Society, which manages it as a nature reserve with the help of volunteers. Although an ancient woodland, most of the trees in the wood date from the end of the 1940s or later, as much of the wood was felled during the Second World War to produce Bryant and May matches. The wood is now home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including rare species of butterfly and moth.

Bolter End Sand Pit is a 0.33-hectare (0.82-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Bolter End in Buckinghamshire. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.The site is a disused sand pit. It is part of the Reading Beds, and dates to 53 million years ago. It has an unusual pebble content for Reading Beds, and is important for palaeogeographical reconstructions as it appears to represent a riverine sequence with sources from Lower Cretaceous and Upper Jurassic sequences.The site is on private land with no public access.

Bolter End is a hamlet 5 mi (8.0 km) to the west of High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, England. Bolter End lies on the B482 road that connects Stokenchurch and Marlow between Cadmore End and Lane End and where it is crossed by the Piddington to Fingest road. Bolter End is part of Lane End (Where the population was included) civil parish and is within Wycombe district. Bolter End Sand Pit is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Windsor Hill is a 61.8-hectare (153-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Princes Risborough in Buckinghamshire. It lies within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and it is featured in the Nature Conservation Review. A small part is managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust, and access to this area requires a permit.

Widdenton Park Wood is a 23.5-hectare (58-acre) Site of Special Scientific Interest west of High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. It is on the site of a medieval deer park going back to the fourteenth century, and most of it is in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.The wood is ancient semi-natural oak-beech woodland, which supports a varied flora including several uncommon species. The most important feature is a number of extensive spring-fed mires, dominated by willow and birch. There are also areas of beech woodland and marshy grassland.The site is open to the public, and there is access by footpaths from Marlow Road.

St Lawrence's Church is a Church of England church in the parish of West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. It sits on top of West Wycombe Hill in a prominent position overlooking the West Wycombe Road, and surrounding villages. West Wycombe Hill is managed by the National Trust, although the church and graveyard are owned by the Church of England. The church resides in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. St Lawrence Church and the mausoleum both occupy similar positions on top of West Wycombe Hill, and the Church tower is visible for many miles around. The top of the tower is the highest point in the Southern Chilterns and on a clear day, it is possible to see West London.

The Swan is a Grade II listed pub at High Street, West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.Built in the 18th century, The Swan was refitted and extended in 1932 by Wheelers Wycombe brewery. As with most of West Wycombe, it is owned by the National Trust.
