The Romanian Air Force 90th Airlift Base "Comandor Aviator Gheorghe Bănciulescu" (Romanian: Baza 90 Transport Aerian) is located at the Henri Coandă International Airport, near Bucharest. The base is currently home to the 901st and 902nd Air Transport squadrons, operating C-130 Hercules, C-27J Spartan, An-26 and An-30 aircraft, as well as the 903rd Transport Helicopter Squadron, operating the IAR-330L and IAR 330M. The 90th Airlift Base is also the home of the Presidential and Government aircraft. The current base commander is Comandor Ion Emil-Florian.In October 2004, the 71st Helicopter Squadron was transferred to the 90th Airlift Base, adding IAR-330 SOCAT to its inventory. The 90th Airlift Base has also MEDEVAC capability. The current commander of the base is Comandor Ion Emil-Florian Tecuceanu.

Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (Romanian: Aeroportul Internațional Henri Coandă București) (IATA: OTP, ICAO: LROP) is Romania's busiest international airport, located in Otopeni, 16.5 km (10.3 mi) north of Bucharest's city centre. It is currently one of the two airports serving the capital of Romania. The other is Aurel Vlaicu Airport. The airport covers 605 hectares (1,495 acres) of land and contains two parallel runways, both 3,500 meters long.The airport is named after Romanian flight pioneer Henri Coandă, builder of Coandă-1910 aircraft and discoverer of the Coandă effect of fluidics. Prior to May 2004, the official name was Bucharest Otopeni International Airport (Romanian: Aeroportul Internațional București Otopeni). Henri Coandă International Airport serves as headquarters for TAROM, the country's national airline. It also serves as a base of operations for low-cost airlines Animawings, Ryanair and Wizz Air and charter airlines Air Bucharest. It is managed by The National Company Bucharest Airports S.A. (Compania Națională Aeroporturi București S.A.). The military section of the airport is used by the 90th Airlift Flotilla of the Romanian Air Force.

Otopeni (Romanian pronunciation: [otoˈpenʲ]) is a town in Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania, neighbouring the north of Bucharest along the DN1 road to Ploiești. It has 21,750 inhabitants, of which 99.0% are ethnic Romanians. One village, Odăile, is administered by the city. Henri Coandă International Airport is located inside Otopeni. The head office of the airline TAROM is located inside the International Departures Terminal in the airport. In addition the head office of Țiriac Air is in Otopeni.

TAROM Flight 371 was a scheduled international passenger flight, with an Airbus A310 from Otopeni International Airport in Romania's capital Bucharest to Brussels Airport in Brussels, Belgium. The flight was operated by TAROM, the flag carrier of Romania. On 31 March 1995, the Airbus A310-324, registered as YR-LCC, entered a nose-down dive after takeoff and crashed near Balotești in Romania. All 60 people aboard were killed in the crash.Investigation of the crash revealed that a faulty auto-throttle reduced the left engine to idle during climb. While this was happening, the captain became incapacitated (possible heart attack), leaving the first officer to react instinctively, over the final 60 seconds of the flight, based on his training and experience – but as he spent most of his flying career flying Soviet-built planes with a different style Attitude Direction Indicator than on the A310, he was unable to respond properly to the situation. The crash was the deadliest plane crash in Romania's history. It was also the deadliest plane crash in TAROM's operational history.

Otopeni Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Otopeni, Romania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and was the home ground of CS Otopeni. The stadium holds 1,300 people.

Băneasa Forest (Pădurea Băneasa in Romanian) is a wood in the north of Bucharest, Romania. Covering 800 hectares (2,000 acres), the ground is located in proximity to Băneasa neighborhood and Băneasa Airport. On its southern edge, there is the Zoo Băneasa zoological garden.

Tunari is a commune in the center of Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania. Its name means "cannoneers" in Romanian. It is composed of two villages, Dimieni and Tunari. The commune is located in the central part of the county, at a distance of 8 km (5.0 mi) north of the capital city, Bucharest, on the Bucharest–Pipera–Tunari–Dimieni road. It has the following neighbors: To the north: Henri Coandă International Airport and Balotești commune, separated by the Bucharest–Urziceni railway. To the south: the Pipera district of Voluntari commune, separated by the Bucharest–Constanța railway and the Bucharest Ring Motorway on the Otopeni–Ștefăneștii de Jos segment. To the east: Ștefăneștii de Jos commune. To the west: the town of Otopeni.The town has a Romanian Orthodox church, named after Saint Nicholas; it was built in 1702 by Marica Brâncoveanu.

Zoo Băneasa is a zoo in Bucharest, Romania, located in a northern district of the city, called Băneasa. The park was founded in 1955 as a service of the Municipal Household Section of the People's Council of the Capital. At that time, small livestock were spread in the parks of Cișmigiu, Carol I, and Herăstrău, and in Băneasa Forest. Between 1955 and 1959 there was a progressive concentration of animals in the Băneasa Zoological Corner, where on 1 May 1959 the first visiting season was opened. In 1962, the title of the institution became the Bucharest Zoo and in the same year it was included in the International Yearbook of Zoological Gardens (International Zoo Yearbook, edited by the Society of Zoology from London). The Zoo, with a total area of 5.85 ha (14.5 acres), is a public facility that maintains and exposes live, wild, indigenous, and exotic collections of animals to achieve two main goals: preservation of fauna (with priority to endangered species); and training, education, and recreation of the visitor audience.

Ilfov (Romanian pronunciation: [ˈilfov]) is the county that surrounds Bucharest, the capital of Romania. It used to be largely rural, but, after the fall of Communism, many of the county's villages and communes developed into high-income commuter towns, which act like suburbs or satellites of Bucharest. The gentrification of the county is continuing, with many towns in Ilfov, such as Otopeni, having some of the highest GDP per capita levels in the country. The county has experienced rapid demographic growth in the 21st century, being the fastest growing Romanian county between 2011 and 2021.

Corbeanca is a commune in the northwestern part of Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania, on the Cociovaliștea River. It is composed of four villages: Corbeanca, Ostratu, Petrești and Tamași. The commune's name derives from "Corbeanu", the name of a shepherd who settled here. There are several residential neighbourhoods that have been built in Corbeanca since the late 1990s, such as Paradisul verde ("Green Paradise"). Corbeanca is linked to Bucharest's public transport system through regional bus route R441 and R446.

The American International School of Bucharest (AISB) is a multicultural and international school located in the town of Voluntari, 5 km outside central Bucharest, Romania, set on a 10 hectare campus. English is the primary instructional language. The school was founded in 1962 by the United States Embassy. It is one of the only schools in Romania authorized to offer students the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This includes the IB Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programmes.The school currently serves a population of 955 students from 66 countries globally.
