Frieschepalen (West Frisian: Fryske Peallen) is a village in the municipality of Opsterland in the east of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 1,015 in January 2017.

Drachten Airfield (Dutch: Vliegveld Drachten) (ICAO: EHDR) is a small general aviation airfield in the Netherlands located in the province of Friesland, 1 NM (1.9 km; 1.2 mi) northeast of Drachten. It has one runway, 07/25, with an asphalt/concrete surface and a length of 950 m (3,117 ft). Customs services are available upon request to allow international flights. The airfield was constructed in the 1950s by the Philips electronics company, which has a factory in Drachten. In an attempt to provide an avenue for otherwise illegal street races, the airfield is now also used for drag racing.

Wijnjewoude (West Frisian: Wynjewâld) is a village in the municipality of Opsterland in the east of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 2,025 in January 2017. The villages of Duurswoude and Wijnjeterp were founded in the late Middle Ages next to one-another. After World War II the villages started to expand, and merged into a single village called Wijnjewoude in 1974.

Hemrik (West Frisian: De Himrik) is a village in the municipality of Opsterland in the east of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 770 in January 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1315 as Hemericke, and means village area. Hemrik developed on a sandy ridge in a heath and moorland region. Around 1750, the Opsterlandse Compagnonsvaart was dug for the excavation of peat. A chapel existed in the village as early as 1315. The Dutch Reformed church dates from 1739, and is colloquially called White Church due its white plaster.Hemrik was home to 352 people in 1840.

Restaurant Koriander is a restaurant in Drachten, in the Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that is awarded one Michelin star from 1999 till 2018.Gault Millau awarded the restaurant 13 points out of 20 In 1997 and 1998, Michelin awarded the restaurant a Bib Gourmand, signalling good food for a reasonable price.Head chef of Koriander is Jan Gaastra.Restaurant Koriander was originally in Bergum. In January 2000, the restaurant moved to Drachten.In 1996, chef Gaastra called in the fire department because of a strong gas smell. After a careful examination, it appeared to be no gas leak, but a stock of fresh truffles.

Olterterp is a village in the municipality of Opsterland in the east of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 75 in January 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1505 as Otterterp, and means "outer settlement". The Dutch Reformed church was built in 1414 or 1415 as a replacement of an earlier church. The church was built without a tower. The tower was added in 1744.Olterterp was home to 154 people in 1840. Most of the land was owned by Ambrosius Ayso van Boelens. Around 1850, van Boelens started to cultivate the wilderness and turn it into farmland.

Rottevalle (West Frisian: De Rottefalle) is a village in Smallingerland municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 1,363 in January 2017.

De Wilp (West Frisian: De Wylp) is a village in the Netherlands south of the town of Marum. It is largely located in the municipality of Westerkwartier in the province of Groningen, but a few houses of the village are in the municipality of Opsterland in the province of Friesland.The village was founded by labourers from Friesland; a part of the population still speaks West Frisian.

Lauswolt is an estate in Beetsterzwaag, Friesland, the Netherlands, dating back to the 17th century. The estate is currently being used as a hotel. The restaurant, called De Heeren van Harinxma, had a Michelin star between 2001 and 2006 and has one as of 2022. Lauswolt was the location of talks between CDA, the Labour Party and ChristianUnion for the formation of a new government. The negotiations were intended to be secret, but De Telegraaf newspaper revealed Lauswolt as the location on the very first day of the talks.
