Townville is an unincorporated community in Anderson County, South Carolina. Townville is located on South Carolina Highway 24, 14.8 miles (23.8 km) west-northwest of Anderson. Townville has a post office with ZIP Code 29689, which opened on December 13, 1836.

Fair Play is a census-designated place located in Oconee County in the U.S. state of South Carolina. A small portion of the CDP extends into Anderson County. As of the 2010 census, the population of Fair Play was 687.According to tradition, the name stems from an incident in which a bystander implored two brawling pioneers to "play fair".

Lake Hartwell State Park, formerly known as Lake Hartwell State Recreation Area, is a park located in Oconee County, South Carolina, near the community of Fair Play. The park was created in 1976, the majority on land leased from the United States Army Corps of Engineers with a small portion of land purchased from various private owners.The 680-acre (3 km2) park has 14 miles of shoreline on Lake Hartwell. Two boat ramps provide boaters access to the lake. While the park focuses on fishing and boating, it also has a playground, areas for picnicking, hiking trails and sites for camping. Two cabins are also available for rental throughout the year. An information center features a display of vintage fishing equipment.

It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census with a population of 341.The CDP is in southern Oconee County, bordered to the southwest by the Chickasaw Point CDP. South Carolina Highway 11, the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway, runs through South Union, leading south 5 miles (8 km) to South Carolina Exit 1 on Interstate 85. To the north the highway provides access to Westminster, 9 miles (14 km) to the northwest, and Seneca, 14 miles (23 km) to the northeast. South Carolina Highway 182 runs through the east side of South Union, leading southeast 5 miles (8 km) to Fair Play and northeast 4 miles (6 km) to South Carolina Highway 24 at Oakway.

The Faith Cabin Library at Seneca Junior College is a Faith Cabin Library built to serve the African American community in Seneca, South Carolina. It was built on the campus of the Seneca Junior College. The log cabin library building was named to the National Register of Historic Places on November 14, 2012.

West-Oak High School was created by the consolidation of Oakway and Westminster High Schools. The school serves students from approximately one-half of the land area in Oconee County, South Carolina. Both Oakway and Westminster schools had been previously consolidated in the 1960s with Fair Play, and Cleveland community schools. Construction for the new building began in 1982, students entered in the fall of 1983, and the first class graduated in the spring of 1984.

It is the principal city of the Seneca Micropolitan Statistical Area (population 74,273 at the 2010 census), an (MSA) that includes all of Oconee County, and that is included within the greater Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson, South Carolina Combined Statistical Area (population 1,266,995 at the 2010 census). Seneca was named for the nearby Cherokee town of Isunigu, which English colonists knew as "Seneca Town".

Ram Cat Alley Historic District is a national historic district located at Seneca, Oconee County, South Carolina. It encompasses 18 contributing buildings in the central business district of Seneca. They were built between about 1887 and 1930. Notable buildings include the Patterson Building, Harper and Jones Building, C. F. Adams General Store, Old Seneca Post Office, and Richardson Theatre.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. The application was compiled and submitted by Chris Knopf, a Clemson University Graduate Student, and Walter Scharer, then Planning Director for Seneca, South Carolina. Knopf is now County Manager for Surry County, North Carolina, and Scharer is Planning Director for Shelby, North Carolina.

Chickasaw Point is a lakeside community and census-designated place (CDP) in Oconee County, South Carolina, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. The population as of 2020 was 718.The CDP is in southern Oconee County, on the northeast shores of Lake Hartwell, a reservoir on the Tugaloo and Savannah rivers. It is bordered to the northeast by the community of South Union. The center of the reservoir is the Georgia state line. Chickasaw Point is 13 miles (21 km) southwest of Seneca and 11 miles (18 km) south of Westminster. It is 5 miles (8 km) northwest of South Carolina Exit 1 on Interstate 85.
