Fisherwick

Tamhorn is a rural location in Staffordshire, England, 2½ miles north-west of Tamworth. It was an extra-parochial area in Offlow hundred until 1858, when it became a civil parish. It was annexed to Fisherwick parish in 1934. It had an area 770 acres. The population was 5 in 1841 and 19 in 1931, the last census before its annexation.It lies in the valley of the river Tame adjacent to the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal. The name Tamhorn is Old English meaning a bend in the river Tame or specifically the horn of land formed by the bend.It was mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) as part of the Bishop of Lichfield's manor. By the later 17th century the settlement consisted only of the manor house, the predecessor of the present Tamhorn Park Farm. Tamhorn was an estate containing 108 acres of woodland and a farm of over 500 acres, which was not included in any parish. In 1827 the estate was bought by Sir Robert Peel, later Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The house on the estate, now known as Tamhorn Park Farm, was built in the early 18th century in a L-shape, but later that century it was enlarged changing the shape to a square.

Comberford is a small settlement in Staffordshire, England. It lies by the River Tame, about 4 kilometres (2 mi) north-east of Tamworth along the A513 road. Historically part of the parish of Wigginton, it is now within the Wigginton and Hopwas civil parish in the district of Lichfield. There is an Anglican church in the village, dedicated to St Mary and St George.

The villages of Wigginton and Hopwas, that make up the parish, lie 2 miles to the north and north-west, respectively, of Tamworth. They are separated by the River Tame, the Coventry Canal and the West Coast Main Line. The parish also includes the hamlet of Comberford. The civil parish is based on the old ecclesiastical parish of Wigginton; Hopwas had been part of the parish of Tamworth. It contains several listed buildings, including churches at Wigginton and at Hopwas, farms and houses, and even a listed milepost in Hopwas.

St Chad's Church is in the village of Hopwas, Staffordshire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Tamworth, the archdeaconry of Lichfield and the diocese of Lichfield. Its benefice is combined with those of St Editha, Tamworth, St Francis, Leyfields, and St Andrew, Kettlebrook. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Hopwas is a village in Staffordshire, England. It lies along the North West borders of Tamworth Borough (along the River Tame to the east and Dunstall Lane to the south of Hopwas) and 5 miles (8 km) east of Lichfield. It is situated where the A51 road crosses both the River Tame and the Coventry Canal. Although adjacent to the Borough of Tamworth, the village is part of the parish of Wigginton and Hopwas within Lichfield District.

St Peter's Church, Elford is a parish church in the village of Elford, Staffordshire in the United Kingdom. The church is situated on the eastern edge of the village on the north bank of the River Tame. The church is a Grade II* Listed Building. A church has stood on the current site since Norman times but the current building predominantly dates from the mid-19th century.

Elford is a village and civil parish in Lichfield District, Staffordshire, England. It is on the east bank of the River Tame, about 5 miles (8 km) east of the City of Lichfield and 5 miles north of Tamworth.

Whittington is a village and civil parish which lies approximately 3 miles south east of Lichfield, in the Lichfield district of Staffordshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 2,591, increasing to 2,603 at the 2011 Census. The parish council is a joint one with Fisherwick. The Coventry Canal borders the village to the north and east.

Whittington Old Hall is a 16th-century mansion house at Whittington, Staffordshire, England, which has been subdivided into separate residential apartments. It is a Grade II* listed building.The house is believed to have been built by the Everard family during the Tudor period. The two-storey entrance front has four gables with dormers and four substantial irregular stone mullioned bays, one offset incorporating a porch. The Astleys and the Dyotts followed as owners but after the Dyott family moved to nearby Freeford Hall, in 1836, the house was let out to a series of tenants. In 1889, the estate was purchased and occupied by architect and brewer Samuel Lipscomb Seckham, developer of Park Town, Oxford and Bletchley Park, and High Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1890. Seckham extended and renovated the house, but following the death of his son Colonel Basset Thorne Seckham in 1926, the estate was sold off, and the house again passed through the hands of tenants. In 1959, the neglected property was sold for redevelopment and was subdivided into several separate residential units.

Packington Hall (grid reference SK163063) in Staffordshire was an English country house designed by architect James Wyatt in the 18th century. Originally built for the Babington family, it became the home of the Levett family of Wychnor Hall, in that same county, until the first half of the twentieth century. The Levetts had ties to Whittington, Staffordshire and nearby Hopwas for many years.

The Rawlett School is a secondary school with academy status located on the outskirts of Tamworth, a market town in Staffordshire, England. It was previously known as Rawlett Community Sports College and, before that, as Rawlett High School. The school is sponsored by the Academies Enterprise Trust. Rawlett educates around 1,250 students aged 11–16. The headteacher is Heather McLachlan. The catchment includes Tamworth, Fazeley, Mile Oak, Elford, Hopwas, Riverside, Coton Green and Gillway.
