Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in San Francisco is a parish of the Archdiocese of San Francisco in San Francisco, California, one of four Catholic churches in San Francisco's Sunset District. The church is distinctive because of its modern architecture and large size, and can be seen up the hill from nearby Ocean Beach. The parish was established in 1925 with Father Richard J. Ryan as its first pastor. A temporary structure served as the first church in 1926. Growth of the parish forced a new building to be constructed and built at the corner of Lawton Street and 40th Avenue. Also being built was a parish school. Both facilities opened in 1941. The parish continued to grow, and the school was expanded to accommodate a total of 800 students. With continued growth of the parish, a new church was necessary. In 1965, the current Holy Name church was rebuilt. To make space for the current church, the rectory building had to literally be lifted off of its foundation, loaded onto a truck, and moved across the street. With the new church in place, the old church was converted into a gymnasium/auditorium, named Ryan Hall after the parish's first pastor. Today, the parish and school continues to serve the people of the Sunset.

Both the curb-level and accessible portions of the outbound platform are located between Sunset and 36th Avenue. Under that plan - which will be implemented as the N Judah Rapid Project - the platforms will be moved to the opposite sides of Sunset Boulevard so that trains can cross through the intersection before stopping.

Residents reused abandoned horsecars (horse-drawn trolleys) and, later, cable cars for housing and public buildings. Ocean Beach is a beach on the west coast of San Francisco, California, United States, bordering the Pacific Ocean. It is adjacent to Golden Gate Park, the Richmond District, and the Sunset District. The Great Highway runs alongside the beach, and the Cliff House and the site of the former Sutro Baths sit at the northern end. The beach is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which is administered by the National Park Service. During the late spring and summer, San Francisco's characteristic foggy weather frequently envelops the beach. The average temperature for the last 5 years has been 13.2 °C (55.8 °F) Most of the beach-friendly weather occurs in the fall (usually mid to late September) and early in the spring when fog and strong sea breezes are less prevalent. Dry winter days also tend to provide excellent weather at Ocean Beach (especially in drought years). The water at Ocean Beach is noteworthy for its strong, dangerous currents and powerful waves, which make it popular among serious surfers. The water is cold, due in part to a process known as upwelling, in which frigid water from below the ocean surface rises to replace the surface water that moves away from the beach as a result of the Coriolis effect. The rapid rip currents, cold water, and threat of sneaker waves make the ocean dangerous for casual swimmers and even those who simply want to set foot in it, especially those with no wetsuits and no lifejackets, because swimmers and even waders have been swept away and drowned. The southern portion of the beach by Sloat Boulevard has some of the cleanest water in the state.

The Spreckels Lake Model Yacht Facility, commonly referred to as "Spreckels Lake", is an artificial reservoir behind an earthen dam and adjoining clubhouse situated on the northern side of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Completed in mid-March 1904, the reservoir was built for the use of model boaters of all ages, interests, and skill levels, designed specifically for racing model sail and power boats and to propagate the skills and crafts necessary to build and sail competitive model boats of all types. The Spreckels Lake Model Yacht Facility is considered one of the finest examples and one of the most beautiful of the naturalistically styled, man-made model boating facilities in the world and is always open to anyone wishing to sail its waters with few restrictions. The facility is also the permanent home to the San Francisco Model Yacht Club (SFMYC), the organization at whose request Spreckels Lake and the adjoining clubhouses were built and whose history is and always will be irrevocably intertwined with the history of the facility.
