Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry is a park in the City of Atlanta located on the site of the former Bellwood Quarry. The park is between Johnson Road and Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and between the neighborhoods of Bankhead, Grove Park, and Knight Park/Howell Station, of which a large portion of the park falls within the Grove Park boundaries. Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry was a major green space project of the Atlanta BeltLine master plan. The park has trail connectivity to the Proctor Creek Greenway Trail (Phase 1) and will ultimately have connectivity to the BeltLine.

Center Hill is a neighborhood located in northwest Atlanta, Georgia with a population of 4,741. Center Hill is located between Donald L. Hollowell Highway, Hamilton E. Holmes Drive, and Simpson Road. Center Hill is a neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia. Many retirees live in Center Hill and residents tend to be liberal.

Dixie Hills is a historic neighborhood of northwest Atlanta with a population of 1,756 (2010).It is bordered: on the north by Joseph E. Boone Blvd., across which are Center Hill and Grove Park on the east by Whitaker Circle and Anderson Ave., across which are West Lake on the south by I-20 across which is Florida Heights; and Penelope Neighbors on the west by the Harvel Homes Community and WesthavenIt has an active community with monthly neighborhood meetings and committee volunteers (a.k.a. Bankhead is a train station in Atlanta, Georgia, the western terminus of the Green Line in the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system. The Bankhead Marta Station is located in the Grove Park Neighborhood due to a recent neighborhood expansion. This station primarily serves the neighborhoods of Grove Park, Bankhead, West Lake, Howell Station, and other Westside residents. Bankhead Station provides connecting bus service to Donald Lee Hollowell Highway, Maddox Park, and the future Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry; which will be the largest park in the city of Atlanta Unlike most MARTA stations, which are provisioned for eight rail cars, Bankhead can only accommodate two cars, with adequate space left in place to allow extension to four cars in the future. It is the only station served exclusively by the Green Line. The area it serves is scheduled to be an important part of the Belt Line, near Maddox Park and the new Westside Park, which would be the largest park in the city of Atlanta.

Maddox Park is a 51.5-acre (208,000 m2) community park located in the west side of Atlanta (in the Bankhead neighborhood), across Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway from Bankhead MARTA station. It is approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of Georgia Tech. The park has an existing rail line running through it, which is part of the proposed route of the Belt Line. The park is named in honor of former Atlanta mayor Robert Maddox and opened in 1931. The park is planned to expand while connecting to the BeltLine and a series of parks encircling the city.

West Lake is an at-grade metro station in Atlanta, Georgia, serving the Blue Line of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system. It serves the area near Westview Cemetery and parts of West Atlanta. The station is located between West Lake & Anderson Avenues in West Atlanta. Bus service is provided at this station to the West End Mall, the Atlanta University Center and Mozley Park.

The Battle of Ezra Church, also known as the Battle of Ezra Chapel and the Battle of the Poor House (July 28, 1864) saw Union Army forces under Major General William T. Sherman fight Confederate States Army troops led by Lieutenant General John B. Hood in Fulton County, Georgia during the Atlanta campaign in the American Civil War. Sherman sent Oliver Otis Howard's Union Army of the Tennessee circling around the west side of Atlanta with the purpose of cutting the Macon and Western Railroad. Hood countered the move by sending two corps commanded by Stephen D. Lee and Alexander P. Stewart to block the move. Before Howard's troops reached the railroad, the Confederates launched several attacks on them that were repulsed with heavy losses. Despite the tactical defeat, the Confederates prevented their foes from blocking the railroad. From May to July 1864, Sherman's numerically superior Union forces pressed back their Confederate opponents to the outskirts of Atlanta. Dissatisfied with Joseph E. Johnston, the commander of the Army of Tennessee, Confederate President Jefferson Davis replaced him with Hood. The new commander promptly mounted two major attacks on Sherman's armies in the Battle of Peachtree Creek on July 20 and the Battle of Atlanta on July 22. Both assaults failed with heavy losses on both sides. After Ezra Church, Sherman persisted in his plan to cut the railroads leading into Atlanta for the next month. Hood's army frustrated all Union efforts until the last railroad line was successfully severed on August 31 during the Battle of Jonesborough.

Hunter Hills is a neighborhood located west of downtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Its motto, "One Community, One Family", has been its cornerstone since 2001. The neighborhood is encompassed in the 30314 zip code. Hunter Hills shares borders with Mozley Park, Dixie Hills and West Lake neighborhoods. The neighborhood rests just inside Atlanta's perimeter highway I-285, and U.S. Route 78 (Bankhead Highway). The schools that serve the neighborhood are Stanton Elementary, Carter G. Woodson Elementary School, Ron Clark Academy, Herndon Elementary and Washington High School, and the Atlanta Job Corps. City of Refuge, a community-based 501(c)(3) non-profit, was established on the 1300 block of Joseph E. Boone Blvd. in 2003 and helps to bring transformation to individuals and families through services including housing, health and wellness, vocational training, and youth development.

The Fulton County Jail, also referred to as Rice Street, is a prison in Atlanta, Georgia. It was built to hold up to 1,125 prisoners in 1989 but now occasionally tops 3,000.

The Huff House was for decades the oldest house in the city of Atlanta. It was located at the northeast corner of Huff Road and Ellsworth Industrial Avenue. at 1133 Huff Road NW (old numbering, 70 Huff Road NW) in Blandtown, part of what is today West Midtown, overlooking the site of the Battle of Peachtree Creek. It was the family home of Sara Huff, the author of the memoir My 80 Years in Atlanta. Jeremiah Huff built the house of pine and brick in 1854 or 1855 over the remnants of an 1830s log cabin. It was razed in 1954 to make way for the Rushton Toy Factory building. This was covered on the front page of the Atlanta paper at the time. Perennial Properties bought the factory site in 2006, demolished the factory in 2008, and the Apex West Midtown residential development is now located at the site.Adorning the Huff House was some of the boxwood from the demolished Ponder House, which had stood in the Hemphill Avenue neighborhood. Atlanta historian Franklin Garrett characterized the house as one of the two finest residences in pre-Civil War Atlanta.
