Bassin de l'Arsenal

The Jardin du Bassin de l'Arsenal is a public park in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, located on the east bank of the Canal Saint-Martin between the Place de la Bastille and the Seine. It was created in 1983. The access to the park is from boulevard de la Bastille. The nearest metro station is Bastille.

Arsenal (French pronunciation: ​[aʁsnal]) is a ghost station on the Paris métro, situated on line 5 between the stations of Bastille and Quai de la Rapée, in the 4th arrondissement of Paris.

The Boulevard de la Bastille is the southwesternmost street of the 12th arrondissement of Paris, situated in the quartier called Quinze-Vingts. It overlooks the east side of the Paris marina, known as the Port de Plaisance or Port de l'Arsenal, with which it forms a boundary with the 4th arrondissement of Paris. (The Port de l'Arsenal is in fact the terminus of the Canal Saint-Martin, which begins at the Place de Stalingrad.) The boulevard also lies directly north (across the Seine) of the border between the 5th arrondissement and the 13th arrondissement of Paris.

The Réunion des Musées Nationaux (RMN) is a French cultural umbrella organisation, an établissement public à caractère industriel et commercial (EPIC), formed in 2011 through the merger of the Paris National Museums and the Grand Palais.Its genesis came about in 1896 under the leadership of the French statesmen Raymond Poincaré and Georges Leygues, with the aim of purchasing works of art for national collections. The institution has three current directives: the welcoming of the public, the organizing of temporary exhibitions, and the holding of exhibitions and its permanent collections. The RMN is responsible for 34 national museums. Two statutes exist for these national museums; most are also public institutions with legal and financial autonomy. The others are services with national jurisdiction (SCN), attached to the Museums Department of France (SMF).

La Maison Rouge was a private contemporary art Foundation dedicated mainly to showing private art collections, monographic shows of contemporary artists' work. It was located close to the Bastille, in Paris, at 10 Boulevard de la Bastille in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. La Maison Rouge has been definitely closed in October 2018.

The Couvent des Célestins (In English: Convent of the Celestines), was an ancient convent located near the Place de la Bastille in Paris, France, active between 1254 and 1790. It was the second most important burial site for royalty after the Basilique Saint-Denis. The prestigious convent was located nearby Hôtel Saint-Pol, the favourite residence of Charles V and Charles VI in the area of the Marais. Many of the high-ranking princes from their court were buried in the convent. However the convent was desecrated during the French Revolution. After the revolution, some of the tombstones were recovered by Alexandre Lenoir. In particular the tombstone of the Latin king Leon V of Armenia was placed in his Musée des monuments Français, and later in the Saint-Denis Basilica. The convent gave its name to the modern Quai des Célestins.

Quai de la Rapée (French pronunciation: ​[kɛ d(ə) la ʁape]) is a station of the Paris Métro, serving line 5, located in the 12th arrondissement of Paris.

The Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal (Library of the Arsenal, founded 1757) in Paris has been part of the Bibliothèque nationale de France since 1934.

The Salle des Traditions de la Garde Républicaine is a museum dedicated to the traditions of the Garde Républicaine, the ceremonial unit of the French National Gendarmerie. It is located in the 4th arrondissement at 18, boulevard Henri IV, Paris, France, and open weekdays by appointment; admission is free. The museum was created in 1984 in a former stable, and presents the traditions of the Garde Républicaine from 1802 to the present day, including its infantry, cavalry, and military bands. Its collections contain about 1,500 items, such as arms, uniforms, equipment, hairstyles, harnessing, musical instruments, models, documents, etc. A special display honors squadron leader Jean Vérines (fr:Jean Vérines), shot by the Germans for his role in the French resistance.

Bastille (French pronunciation: [bastij] (listen)) is a station on Line 1, Line 5 and Line 8 of the Paris Métro. Located under the Place de la Bastille and near the former location of the Bastille, it is situated on the border of the 4th, 11th and 12th arrondissement.

The Place de la Bastille is a square in Paris where the Bastille prison once stood, until the storming of the Bastille and its subsequent physical destruction between 14 July 1789 and 14 July 1790 during the French Revolution. No vestige of the prison remains. The square straddles 3 arrondissements of Paris, namely the 4th, 11th and 12th. The square and its surrounding areas are normally called simply Bastille. The July Column (Colonne de Juillet) which commemorates the events of the July Revolution (1830) stands at the center of the square. Other notable features include the Bastille Opera, the Bastille subway station and a section of the Canal Saint Martin. Prior to 1984, the former Bastille railway station stood where the opera house now stands. The square is home to concerts and similar events. The north-eastern area of Bastille is busy at night with its many cafés, bars, night clubs, and concert halls. As a consequence of its historical significance, the square is often the site or point of departure of political demonstrations, including the massive anti-CPE demonstration of 28 March 2006.

The Storming of the Bastille (French: Prise de la Bastille [pʁiz də la bastij]) was an event that occurred in Paris, France, on the afternoon of 14 July 1789, when revolutionaries stormed and seized control of the medieval armory, fortress, and political prison known as the Bastille. At the time, the Bastille represented royal authority in the centre of Paris. The prison contained only seven inmates at the time of its storming, but was seen by the revolutionaries as a symbol of the monarchy's abuse of power; its fall was the flashpoint of the French Revolution. In France, 14 July is the national holiday, usually called Bastille Day in English.
