Hohe Hölle is a 893.8 m (2,932 ft) mountain of Bavaria, Germany.

The Bavarian Rhön Nature Park (Naturpark Bayerische Rhön) straddles the junction of the German states of Bavaria, Hesse and Thuringia. 70 km2 of the total 125 km2 area of the nature park has been recognised by UNESCO as part of the Rhön Biosphere Reserve. The organisation for the promotion of the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park (Zweckverband Naturpark Bayerische Rhön) was founded in 1967. On 26 November 1982 the regulation for the Naturpark Bayerische Rhön was issued and, in 1997, the Zweckverband became the Society for the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park and Biosphere Reserve (Naturpark und Biosphärenreservat Bayer. Rhön e.V.).

Arnsberg is a mountain in the Bavarian part of the Rhön Mountains, Germany.

The Hochrhönring (also Hochrhön-Ring) is a 42-kilometre-long holiday route in the Hessian Rhön in Germany.The route, which opened in 1970, runs in a circle roughly east of Gersfeld past the Feldberg (815 m), the Wasserkuppe (950 m), Abtsroda, Dietges, the Milseburg (835 m), Kleinsassen, Wolferts, Poppenhausen and Gackenhof and back to Gersfeld.The route is signposted with signs that display the black lettering Hochrhönring on a white background, usually with a thistle on a dark green background (which is often rather faded). The route is popular with motorcyclists and is sometimes nicknamed "the Route 66 of the Rhön".

The Red Moor (German: Rotes Moor) is a raised bog in the Hessian part of the Rhön Mountains in Germany. It lies within the eponymous nature reserve in the Rhön Biosphere Reserve and is part of the Europe-wide conservation system, Natura 2000. The Red Moor has an area of 50 hectares and is the second largest raised bog in the High Rhön after the Black Moor (66.4 hectares). For 175 years, until 1984, peat was cut here. The interior of the raised bog is severely damaged, especially as a result of the many years of peat cutting. Its perimeters are however still largely undisturbed areas that are better and more typically developed than the Black Moor, 8 kilometres away. In 1979 large-scale renaturalisation measures began.

The Feldberg is a mountain in the Rhön highlands in the German state of Hesse. It is 815.2 m above sea level (NN). It is located about three kilometres northeast of Gersfeld in the county of Fulda, near the border with Bavaria and is part of the Hessian Rhön Nature Park and the Rhön Biosphere Reserve. The nearest settlements are Obernhausen to the northwest and Sandberg on the southern spurs of the mountain. The Feldberg is a southwestern outpost of the mountain ridge that runs from the Wasserkuppe to the Heidelstein. The youthful Fulda flows past below its western slopes. The section of the B 284 federal road from Gersfeld to Wüstensachsen runs past the Feldberg in a curve to the west and north. A walking trail managed by the Rhön Club, the Extratour Guckaisee, runs over the Feldberg, passing immediately south of the summit. The terrain is used for forestry and, in places, also for pasture.

Gersfeld is a town in the district of Fulda, in Hesse, Germany. It is situated on the Fulda River, in the Rhön Mountains, 20 km (12.43 mi) southeast of Fulda. It belonged to the abbey-principality of Fulda before secularisation in 1803. It then belonged to the Principality of Nassau-Orange-Fulda between 1803 and 1806, to France between 1806 and 1810, and then later to the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt between 1810 and 1813. After the Battle of Leipzig, it was occupied by the Allied troops of the Sixth Coalition between 1813 and 1815. After that, it was ceded to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1815. During the Austro-Prussian War, it was occupied by Prussia before its annexation in the newly established Hesse Nassau province. It was finally incorporated in the state of Hesse in 1945.

The Fulda–Gersfeld Railway (German: Bahnstrecke Fulda–Gersfeld), also called the Rhön Railway (German: Rhönbahn), is a railway line in the state of Hesse, Germany. It connects Fulda in the west with Gersfeld, in the Rhön Mountains, in the east. The line was opened by the Prussian state railways on October 1, 1888 (1888-10-01), and as of November 2014 is operated by the Hessische Landesbahn using Alstom Coradia LINT 41 trainsets.

The Heidelstein transmitter is a facility for FM- and TV broadcasting on the Heidelstein mountain in the Rhön, Germany. It uses as an antenna, a 218-metre tall guyed mast of tubular steel, which weighs 245 tons, and it was built in 1969. The Heidelstein transmitter is the property of Deutsche Telekom.

The Long Rhön (German: Lange Rhön) is a ridge in the Central Rhön which forms part of the High Rhön within the Rhön Mountains. The Long Rhön is an elongated basalt plateau in the centre, roughly 800 metres above sea level, which is only occasional interrupted by mountain peaks. Its highest mountain is the Heidelstein (926 m above sea level (NHN)). A majority of the area is part of the Long Rhön Nature Reserve. In this area of the Rhön is the Black Moor.
