The St Mary's Road drill hall is a former military installation in Southampton. It is a Grade II listed building.

Its main campus is located on East Park Terrace near the city centre and the maritime hub of Southampton. Solent University students are represented by Solent Students' Union, which is based on the East Park Terrace campus.

Nicholstown-Newtown (usually called Nicholstown or Newtown) is a small area to the north-east of Southampton's city centre. To the north is Bevois Valley, to the east Northam and to the west and south is St Mary's. In the north of Newtown is the Mount Pleasant area, which spills over into the north of Northam. Black signs saying "Welcome to Nicholstown-Newtown" [1] demarcate the district on the roads running east from St. Mary's Rd – hence the district is bordered on the west by St. Mary's Road, the south by Six Dials road, and the east by the railway lines. The area is formed of residential streets with a typical parade of small shops and services; the exception is its central feature, Royal South Hampshire Hospital, established in 1843–1844.

St Edmund's Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Southampton, Hampshire. It is situated on the corner of The Avenue and Rockstone Place. It was built in 1889 and is a Grade II listed building.

Rockstone Place Park or Little Mongers Park is a formal park in Southampton, United Kingdom. The park is next to the Southampton and New Forest Magistrates court building.The park was originally constructed in the 19th century as a pleasure garden for the residents of a nearby housing development. In 1879 it was donated by Mrs Jane Wills, Miss Margaret Toomer and Miss Rebecca Toomer (the heirs of Edward Toomer who had constructed the housing development) to Southampton council on condition that it remain a park forever. During World War Two air raid shelters for ordnance survey staff were constructed in the park. After the war the park seems to have been largely abandoned before being converted into a car park in 1967. In the early 1980s the city of Southampton society and the Southampton Commons and Parks Protection Society became aware of the then car park’s status and the terms of the initial gift (at least in the case of the Southampton Commons and Parks Protection Society via an anonymous letter). Attempts to raise the matter with the council resulted in no action and an appeal to the Local Government Ombudsman was rejected on the basis of the car park having been constructed before the Ombudsman came into existence and the council not having been given enough time to put things right. A second appeal to the Ombudsman in 1988 was accepted and the car park closed in 1990.

The Franciscan Friary of Southampton was founded c. 1233. It occupied a south-eastern area of the city, within the walls and adjacent to God's House Tower. The friary was notable for its water supply system, which supplied water for use by the friars themselves and by the other inhabitants of Southampton. The friary was dissolved in 1538 and the last remains were swept away in the 1940s. The site is now occupied by Friary House. Elsewhere, remnants of the extensive water supply system still survive today.

The Simon Flavell Leukaemia Research Laboratory is based at Southampton General Hospital and named after ten-year-old Simon Flavell who died in 1990 from an aggressive form of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The laboratory specialises in researching and developing antibody type treatments for adults and children with currently incurable types of leukaemia. The laboratory was opened officially on 21 February 1993 by Gary Lineker and his former wife Michelle and in 2008 underwent a complete refurbishment. Originally part of the University of Southampton Medical School, The Simon Flavell Laboratory became independent in 2005 though still affiliated to the School of Medicine but now funded by the children’s leukaemia research charity Leukaemia Busters and other charitable sources. The Simon Flavell laboratory focuses on translational research designed to bring benefits to patients directly. In the early years the laboratory was involved in the development and manufacture of two different immunotoxins for treating patients with lymphoma, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and multiple myeloma in phase I clinical trials. This continues and now the laboratory is involved in developing the next generation of genetically engineered immunotoxins that should prove safer to use and cheaper to manufacture. A main theme of the laboratory’s current research work is to devise ways of improving the therapeutic window for immunotoxins to make them safer and more effective to use clinically. The laboratory is currently headed by Simon’s parents David Flavell and Sopsamorn (Bee) Flavell . The purpose of this Laboratory is to ensure that patients do not have to experience as much chemotherapy. The reason why this laboratory even opened was to support Simon Flavell and other people who have high potential for Leukemia, to make sure they would not have to experience as much pain.

The Titanic Engineers' Memorial is a memorial in East (Andrews) Park, Southampton, United Kingdom, to the engineers who died in the Titanic disaster on 15 April 1912. The bronze and granite memorial was originally unveiled by Sir Archibald Denny, president of the Institute of Marine Engineers on 22 April 1914. The event was attended by an estimated 100,000 Southampton residents.
