Royal Children's Hospital

The Good Friday Appeal is an annual fundraising activity on behalf of the Royal Children's Hospital, in Melbourne, Australia. The event occurs on Good Friday every year. In 2022, the appeal raised over $22 million, setting a new record. More than $345 million has been raised for the hospital since the appeal began in 1931. Individuals and businesses, clubs, schools and country towns throughout the state conduct activities to raise money for the hospital. The appeal is a non-political, non-denominational organisation that exists solely to financially support The Royal Children's Hospital. For the first time in 2014, the telethon was staged within the 2,500-seat Plenary theatre at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). The public were able to purchase tickets to join the live studio audience, with proceeds donated to the appeal. In 2016, the evening concert was marketed as a ticketed event via Ticketek. The state-of-the-art MCEC complex, which is entirely undercover, also features a vast foyer area and support rooms which allowed the appeal to expand activities such as the popular Kids Day Out program and host community groups which fundraise for the hospital.

Flemington Road is a major thoroughfare in the inner suburbs of North Melbourne and Parkville in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It runs for 2 km in a northwest–southeast direction, from the southern end of Mount Alexander Road, Flemington, to Haymarket roundabout and the northern end of Elizabeth Street, and provides a main connection between the northern arm of the CityLink tollway and Melbourne's CBD.

Royal Park is the largest of Melbourne's inner city parks (181 hectares or 450 acres). It is located four kilometres (2.5 mi) north of the Melbourne CBD, in Victoria, Australia, in the suburb of Parkville. Many sporting facilities are provided including the North Park Tennis Club, Royal Park Golf Course, football and soccer ovals, baseball and cricket pitches, State Netball & Hockey Centre, and cycling and walking paths. On the corner of Gatehouse Street and Royal Parade there is a native garden. There are wide vistas of grassland and lightly timbered areas with eucalypts, casuarina, and acacias. The Melbourne City Council administers the park and instituted in 1984 a park management plan. A wetlands area was developed in 2005. The grassy hill between the Royal Children's Hospital and the Native Garden is ideal for kite flying during the day. Over the summer months, members of the Astronomical Society of Victoria set up telescopes and conduct evening talks and tours of the night sky from this vantage point.

Since July 2008 its local government area has been the City of Melbourne, when it took over the administration of parts of Kensington and North Melbourne that were previously under the City of Moonee Valley, resulting in an increase of approximately 4760 residents and almost 3000 workers (2006 Census).Formerly known as Hotham, it was essentially a working class area, with some middle class pockets, and was one of the first towns in Victoria to be granted Municipal status. Today it continues to undergo gentrification, noted for its Victorian architecture, cosmopolitan demographic, commercial and older industrial areas.

North Melbourne was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria from 1859 to 1927. The Electoral District of North Melbourne was defined as being bound by Victoria Street/Parade on the south, Nicholson Street on the east, the southern boundary of portion 90, parish of Jika Jika on the north and a line south from Mains Bridge (now Flemington Bridge) to the Victoria Street alignment by the 1858 Electoral Districts Act. This included the suburbs of Carlton, Parkville and North Melbourne. The district was abolished, along with several others, when the Electoral Districts Act 1926 was implemented in 1927.

The Division of Northern Melbourne was an Australian Electoral Division in the state of Victoria. It was located in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne, and was named accordingly. It included parts of the suburbs of Carlton, North Melbourne and Fitzroy. At the redistribution of 13 July 1906, it was abolished and replaced by the Division of Batman. The division was held by one member, H. B. Higgins, who was Attorney General from 1904 to 1905. He did not contest Batman at the 1906 election, as he was appointed a Justice of the High Court of Australia in 1906.

The Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral also called Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral Is a religious building of the Catholic Church of Byzantine or Ukrainian rite that is located in the North Melbourne suburb of central Melbourne, the capital city of the state of Victoria in Australia. It should not be confused with the Latin or Roman rite cathedral of Melbourne dedicated to Saint Patrick or with the Syro-Malabar Catholic Cathedral dedicated to St. Alfonsa. The building is the seat of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saint Peter and Paul of Melbourne (Eparchia Sanctorum Petri and Pauli Melburnensis Ucrainorum) which began as an apostolic exarch in 1958 with the bull "Singularem huius" of Pope Pius XII and was raised to its current status in 1982 through the bull "Christum Iesum" of Pope John Paul II. It is under the pastoral responsibility of Bishop Peter Stasiuk.

Frances Perry Private Hospital, co-located with the Royal Women's Hospital in the Melbourne suburb of Parkville, is a 69-bed private hospital for women run by Ramsay Healthcare. The hospital specialises in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Neonatology, Breast Surgery, Day Surgery, Reconstructive and Plastic surgery. A wing of the Royal Women's Hospital was opened as Frances Perry House on 2 November 1970 and named after Frances (Fanny) Perry.

The Royal Women's Hospital, located in the Melbourne suburb of Parkville, is Australia's oldest specialist women's hospital. It offers a full range of services in maternity, gynaecology, neonatal care, women's cancers and women's health. It is a major teaching hospital of over 200 beds with links to the University of Melbourne and La Trobe University. Wardlow is an Australian house of historical significance located in the Melbourne suburb of Parkville. It was built in 1888 by John Boyes and is considered to be a fine example of the boom style Italianate architecture of that time, and is listed by the Victorian National Trust.Wardlow has been used as the exterior of Phryne Fisher's house in the ABC's period drama Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.
