Parkville is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 3 km (1.9 mi) north of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Melbourne and Merri-bek local government areas. Parkville recorded a population of 7,074 at the 2021 census.Parkville is bordered by North Melbourne to the south-west, Carlton and Carlton North to the south and east, Brunswick to the north (where a part of Parkville lies within the City of Merri-bek), and Flemington to the west. The suburb includes the postcodes 3052 and 3010 (University). The suburb encompasses Royal Park, an expansive parkland which is notable as home to the Royal Melbourne Zoological Gardens and was the athlete's village for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Parkville is a major education, research and healthcare precinct and home to the University of Melbourne, Monash University Pharmacy faculty, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Women's Hospital, Royal Children's Hospital, the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre and CSL. The residential areas have a high median house price due to the proximity to the city centre and parkland, Victorian era buildings, terrace houses and tree lined streets.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) is a major children's hospital in Melbourne, Australia. As a major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria, the Royal Children's Hospital provides a full range of clinical services, tertiary care, as well as health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.The hospital is the designated statewide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation. Its campus partners are the Murdoch Children's Research Institute and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, which are based onsite at the hospital. The hospital is surrounded by the parkland of Royal Park, with views of trees and much natural light.

The Good Friday Appeal is an annual fundraising activity on behalf of the Royal Children's Hospital, in Melbourne, Australia. The event occurs on Good Friday every year. In 2022, the appeal raised over $22 million, setting a new record. More than $345 million has been raised for the hospital since the appeal began in 1931. Individuals and businesses, clubs, schools and country towns throughout the state conduct activities to raise money for the hospital. The appeal is a non-political, non-denominational organisation that exists solely to financially support The Royal Children's Hospital. For the first time in 2014, the telethon was staged within the 2,500-seat Plenary theatre at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). The public were able to purchase tickets to join the live studio audience, with proceeds donated to the appeal. In 2016, the evening concert was marketed as a ticketed event via Ticketek. The state-of-the-art MCEC complex, which is entirely undercover, also features a vast foyer area and support rooms which allowed the appeal to expand activities such as the popular Kids Day Out program and host community groups which fundraise for the hospital.

Flemington Road is a major thoroughfare in the inner suburbs of North Melbourne and Parkville in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It runs for 2 km in a northwest–southeast direction, from the southern end of Mount Alexander Road, Flemington, to Haymarket roundabout and the northern end of Elizabeth Street, and provides a main connection between the northern arm of the CityLink tollway and Melbourne's CBD.

The Melbourne Sports Centre – Parkville, previously known as the State Netball Hockey Centre is a multipurpose sporting facility located in Melbourne, Australia. It is the administrative headquarters for both Netball Victoria and Hockey Victoria and features two outdoor hockey fields and several indoor netball courts, each capable of seating up to 8,000 and 3,050 spectators respectively. National Basketball League club Melbourne United played home matches at the venue in the past, as well as Super Netball team Melbourne Vixens, though both clubs have shifted home matches to larger-capacity arenas. Hockey Club Melbourne of the Hockey One league play home games on the main hockey pitch. The facility, opened on 16 March 2001, is located in Royal Park, Parkville next to the Melbourne Zoo. The facility is run by the State Sport Centres Trust, which operates four other sporting facilities in Melbourne, namely the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC), the MSAC Institute of Training (MIT) and Lakeside Stadium.

Melbourne Zoo is a zoo in Melbourne, Australia. It is located within Royal Park in Parkville, approximately 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) north of the centre of Melbourne. It is the primary zoo serving Melbourne. As of 2021 the zoo contains 3742 animals comprising 243 species, from Australia and around the world. The zoo is accessible via Royal Park station on the Upfield railway line, and is also accessible via tram routes 58 and 19, as well as by bicycle on the Capital City Trail. Bicycles are not allowed inside the zoo itself. The Royal Melbourne Zoological Gardens is a full institutional member of the Zoo and Aquarium Association and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The zoo is set among flower gardens and picnic areas. Many of the animals are now organised in bioclimatic zones: African rainforest ('Gorilla Rainforest') that include gorillas and lemurs; Asian rainforest ('Trail of the 'Elephants') that includes elephants, orangutans, tigers and otters; and the Australian bush with kangaroos, koalas, wombats, goannas, native birds and many others. Popular exhibits also include the 'Butterfly House', the 'Reptile House', the 'Great Flight Aviary', 'Wild Sea', 'Treetop Apes and Monkeys' and 'Lion Gorge'. The zoo includes a large schools section and caters to many school visitors annually, its immensely popular education program encourages young minds to conserve animals. Visitors can see historical cages including the heritage listed Elephant House, which has been renovated and adapted for use for customers paying to sleep overnight in tents at the zoo in popular Roar and Snore evenings. These evenings allow the public to see some of the nocturnal animals at the zoo in evening guided tours by experienced camp hosts.

Wardlow is an Australian house of historical significance located in the Melbourne suburb of Parkville. It was built in 1888 by John Boyes and is considered to be a fine example of the boom style Italianate architecture of that time, and is listed by the Victorian National Trust.Wardlow has been used as the exterior of Phryne Fisher's house in the ABC's period drama Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.

The MacFarland Library at Ormond College, the University of Melbourne, completed in 1965, was Frederick Romberg’s (Romberg and Boyd Architects) second building for Ormond College. The initial scheme for the building in 1962 was a largely classical building that drew on elements from many of Romberg’s buildings from the previous decade. The subsequent revised scheme better complemented the rest of Reed and Barnes’ Gothic Revival Ormond college. The central plan of the library is a tribute to long tradition of library building including the Melbourne Public Library’s domed reading room, which involved Joseph Reed, Selwyn Bates, Norman Peebles and Charles Smart.

International House is the second largest residential college of the University of Melbourne. It provides co-educational accommodation to 350 undergraduate and graduate students who are attending the University of Melbourne and nearby tertiary institutions. It is situated at 241 Royal Parade, Parkville. The college was opened in 1957 and is still owned by the University of Melbourne. It was the first International House in Australia.

The University High School (abbreviated as UHS or Uni High) is a government-funded co-educational secondary day school, located in the Melbourne suburb of Parkville, Victoria, Australia. As of 2016, 1,425 students attended the school.

University College (UC) is a residential college affiliated with the University of Melbourne in Australia. It was formerly known as University Women's College and was established in 1937 as the first of the Melbourne residential colleges to permit female residents. In 1975 the college became co-residential. The college is situated in the suburb of Parkville. University College houses 340 undergraduate and graduate students each year from the University of Melbourne, RMIT University, Monash University Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Victorian College of the Arts, Australian Catholic University and other universities in close proximity to its campus. University College was renovated between 2007 and 2008 to include a new recreation complex with indoor sporting and other facilities including a design studio, TV room, gym, band room and a spacious multi-purpose area with billiard and table tennis tables. The college underwent another redevelopment in 2019, the major feature being 190 modern, en-suite student rooms with double beds. The first part of the project to be completed was the Syme Dining Hall, which opened in 2017 and features an innovative and energy efficient design reflective of the German 'Passivhaus' concept. The college provides all-inclusive meals, tutorial and wellbeing programs and networking opportunities. Additionally, University College offers a variety of events and activities for all personality types, including various sports, musical events, social events and leadership activities. The college's colours (as worn on the sporting field) are maroon, pale blue and black. The mascot is the boar. Its motto is Frappe Fort which translates to 'what you do, do with a will'. The unofficial slogan embodied by University College students is love, passion and die-hard spirit. Conference facilities are available throughout the year, especially over the summer and winter university breaks. While prospective students and families are able to tour University College throughout its open periods during the year, there are virtual tour options available on the website which is recommended for interstate and overseas families. The college endeavors to create a networked and united student cohort and achieves this post-university study through hosting regular Alumni events.
