Jedlina [jɛˈdlina] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Bojszowy, within Bieruń-Lędziny County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) south-east of Bojszowy, 12 km (7 mi) south of Bieruń, and 26 km (16 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice.

Harmęże [xarˈmɛ̃ʐɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Oświęcim, within Oświęcim County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) south-west of Oświęcim and 57 km (35 mi) west of the regional capital Kraków.Marian Kołodziej's artwork, The Labyrinth, is displayed in the basement of St. Maximilian Kolbe Centre in Harmęże.

Pławy [ˈpwavɨ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Oświęcim, within Oświęcim County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) west of Oświęcim and 57 km (35 mi) west of the regional capital Kraków.

Gmina Brzeszcze is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Oświęcim County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the town of Brzeszcze, which lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) south-west of Oświęcim and 57 km (35 mi) west of the regional capital Kraków. The gmina covers an area of 46.13 square kilometres (17.8 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 21,557, of which the population of Brzeszcze is 11,730, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 9,827.

Brzeszcze [ˈbʐɛʂt͡ʂɛ] (German: Brisk) is a town in Oświęcim County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship in southern Poland, near Oświęcim. As of December 2021, the town has a population of 10,935. The history of the town dates back to the 15th century, and it was probably founded by Flemish settlers. Brzeszcze lies along regional roads nr. 933 and nr. 949, and its name comes from the brzost (Ulmus glabra) trees, which once were abundant in the Sola river valley. In the past the town was spelled Brzescie, Breszcze, Brescze, Brzeszce, and Brzesczye.

Pszczynka is a river in Silesian Voivodeship of Poland, a left tributary of the Vistula, 45.26 km long.The sources of the river are located in Wodzisław County (near Gogołowa) and Jastrzębie-Zdrój. It flows through Pszczyna. On the river, there is Łąka retention reservoir. Its tributaries include Dokawa and Korzeniec.

The Massacre in Budy (German: Budyrevolte, Polish: Masakra w Budach) was the massacre of female prisoners from the penal company of Auschwitz concentration camp, who were quartered in the Wirtschaftshof Budy subcamp, which took place in the evening of 5 October 1942. Around 90 female prisoners, most of them French Jewish women, were killed by German prisoner functionaries and SS guards.

Oświęcim Basin (Polish: Kotlina Oświęcimska) is a lowland, located in southern Poland, between the Lesser Poland Highlands to the north, Silesian Foothills and Wieliczka Foothills to the south. It has the size of around 1,236 km2 (477 sq mi). Its name comes from the city of Oświęcim. It is located on the Vistula River on the confluences of Biała, Soła and Skawa which begin in Carpathian Mountains and Przemsza which begins in Silesian Highlands.

The International Monument to the Victims of Fascism (Polish: Międzynarodowy Pomnik Ofiar Obozu, lit. International Monument to the Victims of the Camp) is a commemorative monument in the Auschwitz II–Birkenau concentration camp in Birkenau (now Brzezinka) in southern Poland. It lies at the western end of the railway lines which cross the camp from the main gate. The monument was designed by Italian architects Andrea and Pietro Cascella, and executed in collaboration with Polish and Italian artists Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz, Julio Lafuente and Giorgio Simoncini. Completion of the monument took about nine years. It was dedicated on 16 April 1967.: 228  Trees were planted behind the monument by the people of Brzezinka.: 61 

Gilowice [ɡilɔˈvit͡sɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Miedźna, within Pszczyna County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 11 kilometres (7 mi) east of Pszczyna and 30 km (19 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice.

Bojszowy [bɔi̯ˈʂɔvɨ] is a village in Bieruń-Lędziny County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Bojszowy. It lies approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) south of Bieruń and 24 km (15 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice.

The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum (Polish: Państwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau) is a museum on the site of the Auschwitz concentration camp in Oświęcim (German: Auschwitz), Poland. The site includes the main concentration camp at Auschwitz I and the remains of the concentration and extermination camp at Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Both were developed and run by Nazi Germany during its occupation of Poland in 1939–1945. The Polish government has preserved the site as a research centre and in memory of the 1.1 million people who died there, including 960,000 Jews, during World War II and the Holocaust. It became a World Heritage Site in 1979. Piotr Cywiński is the museum's director.
