Penns Grove High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Carneys Point Township and Penns Grove in Salem County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as part of the Penns Grove-Carneys Point Regional School District. A majority of students in grades 9-12 from Oldmans Township, New Jersey attend the district's high school as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Oldmans Township School District, with the balance attending Woodstown High School in the Woodstown-Pilesgrove Regional School District. The school is located in Carneys Point Township. Penns Grove High school hosts the regional Academy of Chemical and Technological Engineering program, which prepares students for college majors in engineering fields. The Academy of Chemical and Technological Engineering operates in partnership with Rowan University, Salem Community College, DuPont and various other contributors.As of the 2022–23 school year, the school had an enrollment of 576 students and 48.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.0:1. There were 291 students (50.5% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 54 (9.4% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Salem County Career and Technical High School is a four-year vocational public high school located in Pilesgrove Township, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, that serves the vocational education needs of students in ninth through twelfth grades in Salem County, as part of the Salem County Vocational Technical Schools. The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools.As of the 2022–23 school year, the school had an enrollment of 738 students and 46.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 15.9:1. There were 146 students (19.8% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 31 (4.2% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Carneys Point Township is a township in Salem County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 8,637, an increase of 588 (+7.3%) from the 2010 census count of 8,049, which in turn reflected an increase of 365 (+4.8%) from the 7,684 counted in the 2000 census.Upper Penns Neck Township was formed on July 10, 1721, when Penn's Neck Township was subdivided and Lower Penns Neck Township (now Pennsville Township) was also formed. The township was incorporated by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 21, 1798, as one of New Jersey's original group of 104 townships. Portions of the township were taken to form Oldmans Township (February 7, 1881) and Penns Grove borough (March 8, 1894). The township was renamed Carneys Point Township based on the results of a Township meeting held on November 10, 1976, after voters approved a referendum held eight days earlier.

Carneys Point is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Carneys Point Township, in Salem County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 7,382.The first European settlers in the area were a group of Irish immigrants who came in 1727, which included Thomas Carney. After World War I broke out and the E.I. du Pont de Nemours plants in the area expanded, a community was constructed for the employees of the plants and was named after Thomas Carney.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 5,147, reflecting an increase of 261 (+5.3%) from the 4,886 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn declined by 342 (-6.5%) from the 5,228 counted in the 1990 Census.Penns Grove had the fourth-highest property tax rate in New Jersey, with an equalized rate of 5.556% in 2020, compared to 3.476% in Salem County and a statewide average of 2.279%.

Salem Community College (SCC) is a public community college in Salem County in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Salem Community College's main 11-acre (45,000 m2) campus is in Carneys Point Township. SCC is authorized to grant associate degrees, including Associate in Arts, Associate in Fine Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science certificates. SCC also offers the only degree program in the US for scientific glassblowing.Salem Community College was founded as Salem County Technical Institute in 1958. Recognizing the college-level caliber of the institute's programs, the Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders requested approval to grant degree-awarding authority to the institute. The New Jersey Commission on Higher Education evaluated the institute's programs and granted the requested approval. On September 3, 1972, Salem Community College was established. It is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Oldmans Township is a township in Salem County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 1,910, an increase of 137 (+7.7%) from the 2010 census count of 1,773, which in turn reflected a decline of 25 (−1.4%) from the 1,798 counted in the 2000 census.Oldmans Township was incorporated on February 7, 1881, from portions of Upper Penns Neck Township (now Carneys Point Township). The township's name is a corruption of "Alderman's".It is a dry town, where alcohol cannot be sold legally, though alcohol is available at the winery in the township.

The Sievers Sandberg Reserve Center is a U.S. Army Reserve training installation in New Jersey. It occupies 39 acres (16 ha).[2] It was previously Camp Pedricktown an Air Defense Base Construction under the Philadelphia District of the Army Corps of Engineers transferred to the New York District on July 1, 1960. The station had a Missile Master installation with an Army Air Defense Command Post, and associated search, height finder, and identification friend or foe radars. The station's radars were subsequently replaced with radars at Gibbsboro Air Force Station 15 mi (24 km) away.[3] The obsolete Martin AN/FSG-1 Antiaircraft Defense System,a 1957-vintage vacuum tube computer, was removed after command of the defense area was transferred to the command post at Highlands Air Force Station near New York City. The Highlands AFS command post controlled the combined New York-Philadelphia Defense Area.The air defense station, with an intact bunker was designated an historic site in 1998 by the Salem Historic Preservation Office.

The Fort Meade radar station was a Cold War military site with several sets of radar equipment in various Army and USAF radar networks. The site operated c. 1950 until 1979 and had a Project Nike command post and radar network.

From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.A majority of public school students in ninth through twelfth grades from Oldmans Township (more than 70% in 2018) attend Penns Grove High School as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Penns Grove-Carneys Point Regional School District, with the balance (the remaining 30%) attending Woodstown High School in the Woodstown-Pilesgrove Regional School District, which also serves students from Alloway Township and Upper Pittsgrove Township. Students from Oldmans Township living west of Interstate 295 are sent to Penns Grove, while those east of the highway are sent to Woodstown. As of the 2018–19 school year, Penns Grove High School had an enrollment of 508 students and 50.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.2:1, while Woodstown High School had an enrollment of 603 students and 48.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.4:1.In 2016, the district commissioned a study by the Southern Regional Institute and Educational Technology Training Center at Stockton University to consider sending all students in grades 9-12 to Woodstown High School. The study concluded that Woodstown has the capacity to handle all of the students from Oldmans Township, but noted that the withdrawal from Penns Grove would results in a small decrease in the number of white students in that district's high school. In 2018, the Oldmans Township district sought permission from the commissioner of education to send all students to Woodstown, which has been opposed by the Penns Grove district based on the financial impact caused by the loss of tuition.
