Headley Down

Arford is a village in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England, just north of the B3002 road, and is part of the civil parish of Headley. The village is about half a mile from Headley village centre and 3.5 miles (5.5 km) north of Liphook, which has the nearest railway station.

Barford is a scattered hamlet in the civil parish of Headley in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. The village lies on the Hampshire-Surrey border, approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) from Hindhead. Its nearest town is Bordon, which lies approximately 3.6 miles (5.8 km) south-west from the village. The stream which marks the parish and county boundary once had three mills, all now private dwellings. Two were involved in paper-making, and one corn-grinding. The oldest is mentioned in a pipe-roll of 1264 while the others date from the 18th century. One of the paper mills was subsequently used for flock, and one housed French prisoners of war during the Napoleonic Wars.Barford bridge, formerly a dangerous ford, was built across the stream in the early 1900s.

Headley Grange is a former workhouse in Headley, Hampshire, England. It is a Grade II listed historic building. It is best known for its use as a recording and rehearsal venue in the 1960s and 1970s, by acts including Led Zeppelin, Genesis and Help Yourself.

Bramshott and Ludshott Commons is a 374.4-hectare (925-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Grayshott in Hampshire. It is part of Wealden Heaths Phase II Special Protection Area.The site has large areas of heath which are dominated by heather, bell heather, common gorse and dwarf gorse. There are also woodland areas with ancient trees, with at least 87 taxa of epiphytic lichens, most of which are associated with ancient woods and several of which are rare.

The ecclesiastical parish of All Saints, Headley served Lindford and Bordon, although not Grayshott, until March 2002; since then, Bordon has become a separate ecclesiastical parish.

Churt is a village and civil parish in the borough of Waverley in Surrey, England, about 5.5 miles (8.9 km) south of the town of Farnham on the A287 road towards Hindhead. A clustered settlement is set in areas acting as its green buffers, which include the Devil's Jumps. The west of the village slopes down to the steep edge of Whitmore Vale, which is mostly in Headley, Hampshire; at the foot of this bank is a steeply cut brook which defines the Hampshire border. There are forests and heathland by and atop the Greensand Ridge, and the hamlet of Crosswater is in the north of the parish.

Passfield is a small village in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is in the civil parish of Bramshott and Liphook and lies approximately 1.6 miles (2.6 km) north-west from Liphook and 2 miles (3.2 km) south-east from Bordon. The village was once a main crossing point between Liphook and Petersfield, which gives its name 'Passfield'.

Bramshott and Liphook, formerly just Bramshott is a civil parish in the East Hampshire district, in Hampshire, England, on the main route from London to Portsmouth. Formerly local government was solely in the hands of the ecclesiastical parish, but in the 19th century became a separate, civil, entity. The parish includes the village of Bramshott, the larger village of Liphook and several smaller settlements, as well as a considerable area of mixed woodland and heathland.

Ludshott Common and Waggoners Wells (the latter sometimes written with an apostrophe: Waggoners' Wells) is a National Trust reserve; Ludshott Common is an area of heathland and Waggoners Wells a series of man-made ponds with a connecting stream. The reserve is situated between Grayshott, Bramshott and Headley Down in East Hampshire, England. To the south is the large heathland area of Bramshott Common. Some 415 acres (168 ha) is under the care of the Woodland Trust.

Bramshott Common is part of a large expanse of heathland, including Ludshott Common, near Bramshott, Hampshire, England.It was the site of Bramshott Camps, set up to accommodate Canadian troops during the two world wars. It is bisected by the A3 trunk road.

Bramshott Military Camp, often simplified to Camp Bramshott, was a temporary army camp set up on Bramshott Common, Hampshire, England during both the First and Second World Wars. Camp Bramshott was one of three facilities in the Aldershot Command area established by the Canadian Army. The permanent facility on both occasions was at the British Army's Bordon Military Camp. Bramshott was one of two temporary camps set-up for additional accommodation in the lead-up to D-Day, along with Witley Camp. There were five Canadian camps in the immediate vicinity of Camp Bramshott, each one given the name of one of the Great Lakes: Huron and Ontario Camps were located on Bramshott Common near the Portsmouth Road Superior Camp was located at the Grayshott end of Ludshott Common Erie Camp was located at Headley Down, in the area now occupied by Heatherlands estate. Connaught Military Hospital was located on Bramshott Common, adjacent to the A3 Trunk road There is a memorial to the Canadian troops which comprises, according to the Imperial War Museum's dedication page: Avenue of c. 400 trees, one for each Canadian serviceman who died in WW1 and WW2. These trees are each side of the A3 and there is an underpass to cross the road safely. Each tree is twinned with a grave in Bramshott Churchyard and St Joseph's Catholic Church, Grayshott.
