Penrhiwfer (Welsh for "short hill end") is a village located in the community of Tonyrefail, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough, Wales.There is a church, a park and a school.The Park is adjacent to the new school and the church is located on the main road.

Penygraig railway station served the village of Penygraig, in the historical county of Glamorgan, Wales, from 1901 to 1958 on the Ely Valley Railway.

Dinas Rhondda railway station is a railway station serving the Dinas, Penygraig and Trealaw districts of Tonypandy, Wales. It is located on the Rhondda Line. The station has one platform with one small station shelter and is accessible by a small connector road. There is evidence of a previous platform, which originally served North bound trains to Treherbert, but this was left abandoned after rationalisation in 1982, which saw the removal of the northbound line. Today the platform is heavily overgrown. It has a car park, even though it is one of the smaller stations on the line.

Penygraig is a village and community in the Rhondda Valley in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. As a community Penygraig contains the neighbouring districts of Dinas, Edmondstown, Penrhiwfer and Williamstown. Penygraig is within the historic county boundaries of Glamorgan. The name Penygraig is Welsh for 'head of the rock'.

Tonypandy railway station is a railway station serving the town of Tonypandy in south Wales. It is located on the Rhondda Line. The station cannot be directly accessed from Tonypandy, a scenic bridge over the river Rhondda must be used as the station adjoins a mountain.

AFC Porth is a Welsh football team based in the village of Porth in the Rhondda Valley. The club plays in the South Wales Alliance League Premier Division, which is the fourth tier of Welsh football. The club plays its home matches at Dinas Park. The club was originally founded in 1950 as Beatus United before changing its name to Porth in 1986. Porth won the Second Division of the Welsh Football League in 1993 and spent several years in the First Division. The club changed its name to A.F.C. Rhondda in 1996 but reverted to Porth in 2004.

Ynyshir Albions F.C. are a Welsh football team based in the village Ynyshir in the Rhondda Valley. They currently have a senior side in the Cymru South, the second tier of the Welsh football pyramid.

Dinas is a village near Tonypandy in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Dinas is often referred to as Dinas Rhondda to avoid confusion with Dinas Powys in the Vale of Glamorgan. The word dinas in Modern Welsh means "city", but here (as in Old and Middle Welsh more generally) it means "hill fort".

Tonypandy is a town, community and electoral ward located in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, within the historic county boundaries of Glamorgan, Wales, lying in the Rhondda Fawr Valley. A former industrial coal mining town, today Tonypandy is best known as the site of the 1910 Tonypandy riots. According to the 2011 UK Census, the population of the community was 3,750, though the population of the wider urban area was 17,789.

Mid Rhondda Football Club was an association football team, based in Tonypandy, Wales that was formed in 1912. Mid Rhondda were one of the earlier South Wales teams to form, as competition from rugby union within the Rhondda Valleys was very strong. The team played in both the Southern and Welsh Leagues, and should have been promoted to the first division of the Southern League after topping the second Division during the 1919–20 season. This though was denied them by a restructuring of the league, which in turn saw the club flounder and collapse by 1928.

Trealaw is a long village, also a community and electoral ward in the Rhondda Valley, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It stretches over two miles from the junction of Cemetery Road and Brithweunydd Road in the east, to the junction of Ynyscynon Road and Partridge Road to the northwest.

Trebanog is a village in the Cymmer electoral ward lying on the southernmost outskirts of the Rhondda Valley, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, located off the A4233 road between Porth and the town of Tonyrefail. Trebanog is an outlying district of the community of Cymmer, and is neighboured by the settlement of Edmondstown (a district of Penygraig). The area has been described as being on "high ground that seals off the Rhondda from the Vale of Glamorgan". Historically it was a mining village, and was home to the Trebanog Working Men's Club and Institute.
