Man in Tree refers to a widely viewed standoff between an American man named Cody Lee Miller and local law enforcement on March 22–23, 2016, in Seattle, Washington. Miller scaled a large sequoia tree near a major downtown intersection and remained there for over 24 hours, rebuffing rescue and negotiation attempts and tossing debris at onlookers. The situation disrupted Seattle traffic patterns, became a trending topic across social media, and attracted national attention from news outlets. Miller's treatment by police and coverage by the media has spurred further debate on the adequacy of mental health care in the USA.

The Calhoun Hotel, later known as the Palladian Apartments and currently the Kimpton Palladian Hotel is a historic hotel building located in downtown Seattle, Washington. Constructed in 1909, The building was built on the recently regraded northeast corner of Second Avenue and Virginia Streets by Scott Calhoun (1874-1952), a well known attorney and Seattle's Corporation Counsel who helped form the Port of Seattle. He commissioned prominent local Architect W. P. White to design an eight-story hotel building, containing 153 rooms on the upper floors and retail at ground level. It was the first building to be completed on the site of the Denny Regrade. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 23, 2013. Converted to apartments by the 1980s, In 2014 it was restored back into a hotel and is currently run by the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants brand as the Kimpton Palladian Hotel.

The Active Voice Building in Seattle, Washington is a reinforced concrete and steel-frame office building with solar bronze exterior window panels. It is located on the southwest corner of 6th Avenue and Lenora Street and abuts the Westin Building to the south, providing direct connections to the Westin's meet-me rooms and colocation facilities. Constructed in 1962, originally for the Internal Revenue Service, the building was named United Airlines Building until 2001. It was renamed "Active Voice Building" in 2005 after Active Voice, LLC, a subsidiary of NEC Unified Solutions, Inc., became the anchor tenant, occupying 42,600 square feet (3,960 m2) of the building on three floors.The ground floor of the Active Voice is home to a jazz club and a day spa. In 1975 and again in 2001, the building underwent renovations.

The Modern (formerly Third and Lenora) is a mixed-use high-rise building in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, United States. The 38-story tower, developed by Martin Selig, includes offices, retail, and 222 residential units. Construction began in September 2017 and was completed in 2020. It was originally leased to The We Company for use by their WeWork co-working and WeLive co-living ventures until the company ran into financial issues and the lease was terminated after the building was topped out.

The Seattle Jewish Federation shooting occurred on July 28, 2006, at around 4:00 p.m. PT, when Naveed Afzal Haq shot six women, one fatally, at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle building in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, United States. Haq was convicted in December 2009 and sentenced to life without parole plus 120 years. Police have classified the shooting as a "hate crime" based on what Haq is alleged to have said during a 9-1-1 call. King County Prosecuting Attorney Norm Maleng described the shooting as "one of the most serious crimes that has ever occurred in this city".

Arrivé ( ah-ree-VAY) is a 440-foot (130 m), 41-story skyscraper in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. The $190 million project, originally named Potala Tower after the Potala Palace in Tibet, was designed by Weber Thompson and consists of 342 apartments and a 142-room hotel. It was financed partially by Chinese nationals through the EB-5 visa program and began construction in April 2015. Construction was put on hold in August 2015, when the assets of project developer Lobsang Dargey were frozen by a court order after a civil fraud suit by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC alleges that Dargey diverted funds from the project for his own personal uses, including the purchase of his Bellevue home and gambling. The project was then transferred to a court-appointed receiver and later stripped of its EB-5 eligibility. In May 2016, the presiding judge approved a plan by two firms to buy out Dargey's share of the project and restart construction, pending approval from EB-5 investors; in October, the two companies signed an agreement to restart construction and re-brand the project. The tower was completed and opened in February 2019.

Rubinstein Bagels is a bagel shop with three locations in the Seattle metropolitan area, in the U.S. state of Washington. In Seattle, the business operates in South Lake Union and on Capitol Hill; since 2023, a third location has operated in Redmond. Rubinstein was established by Andrew Rubinstein, who initially sold bagels out of Ethan Stowell's Cortina Cafe as well as Two Union Square's second floor lobby. He later sold his half of the business to Stowell. Considered one of the area's best bagel shops, Rubinstein has garnered a positive reception. Food & Wine has said the business serves some of the nation's best bagels, which are also a favorite of chef and food writer J. Kenji López-Alt. Rubinstein has also received praise for its matzo ball soup and breakfast sandwiches.

The Westin Seattle is a twin-tower highrise hotel in Seattle, Washington. The south tower, with 40 floors at 121 m (397 ft), opened on June 29, 1969, as the Washington Plaza Hotel. It was built on the site of the historic Orpheum theater. Western International Hotels operated the Washington Plaza as one property with the adjacent Benjamin Franklin Hotel, built in 1929. John Graham & Associates, the new hotel's architects, had previously designed the Space Needle, first proposed by Edward Carlson, head of Western International Hotels, which also operated the tower's restaurant. The Benjamin Franklin was demolished in July 1980 for construction of a second, nearly identical tower. While work on the tower went on, the company was renamed Westin Hotels. The Washington Plaza was the first property in the chain to be renamed, becoming The Westin Hotel on September 1, 1981. Also in 1981, Westin opened their corporate headquarters directly across the street in the Westin Building, which shared a parking garage with the hotel. The 137 m (449 ft), 47-story north tower opened in June 1982 and is the tallest hotel in the city. The Westin Seattle is currently the flagship property of the Westin brand. The hotel's two towers are featured on the cover art for the Modest Mouse album The Lonesome Crowded West.
