Greensboro College

Wafco Mills is a historic roller mill complex located in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. The complex consists of a four-story frame building built in 1893 and expanded in 1941, with two four-story brick buildings built in 1907 and 1912. At the time of its listing the mill retained most of the original machinery. The mill closed as a business in 1972 and was converted to 28 residential condominiums in 1987. The mill is currently managed by the Historic Wafco Mills Condominium Association.This historic property was originally constructed as the home of the milling enterprise North, Watson and Company. The earliest component of the complex is three stories tall, constructed of timber and covered in wood clapboards in 1893. Subsequent phases added in 1907 and 1912 were of brick construction and increasingly elaborate design. The 1912 phase is the most elaborate, featuring segmental arched windows, brick corbels, and a stepped parapet gable. The history of the mill is associated with the Watson family. The mill produced a variety of flour, cornmeal and feeds and operated under the same family management for more than four generations. The complex was abandoned in 1972, leaving its future in doubt until developers proposed converting the buildings to residential use in 1984. Architects preserved charming features and materials including exposed brick walls and structural timbers. They created twenty-eight unique living units that were instantly successful. Wafco Mills is a touchstone to the industrial and commercial development of Greensboro as a well-preserved example of late nineteenth and early twentieth century industrial construction development. Its collection of milling machinery remained largely intact at the time of Greensboro's most interesting residences. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and designated a Guilford County Landmark Property in 1995.

Bumpas-Troy House is a historic home which is located at Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. It was built in 1847, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay, Greek Revival style brick dwelling. The front facade features a two-story portico.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. It is in the College Hill Historic District. A bed-and-breakfast inn was operated in the house from 1992 through October 2016.

Charles H. Ireland House was a historic home located at Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. It was built in 1904, and was a large 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay, granite, brick, and frame structure with Colonial Revival, Classical Revival and Queen Anne style design elements. It featured a pedimented two-story portico with Ionic order columns and a steeply pitched gambrel roof. It was destroyed by fire February 2, 1996. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Harden Thomas Martin House is a historic home located at Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. It was built in 1909, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, double pile, Colonial Revival style frame dwelling. It consists of a main block with shallow, gable-roofed projections; two one-story, hip-roofed rear wings; and a porte-cochere. The front facade features a bowed, two-story portico supported by four fluted Ionic order columns with large terra cotta capitals. Also on the property are two contributing frame outbuildings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Blandwood Mansion is a historic house museum at 447 West Washington Street in Greensboro, North Carolina. Originally built as a four-room Federal style farmhouse in 1795, it was home to two-term North Carolina governor John Motley Morehead (1841-1844) under whose ownership it was transformed into its present appearance. It is believed to be the oldest extant example of the Italian Villa Style of architecture in the United States, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1988. In creating the design for Blandwood, architect Alexander Jackson Davis produced a popular prototype for American house designs in the Italianate style: a central tower projecting from the main facade. Saved from demolition in 1964 by preservation-minded Greensboro citizens, the house was opened as a museum in 1976 and remains open to the public today.

Dr. David P. Weir House is a historic home located at Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. It was built about 1846, and is a two-story, frame structure with Greek Revival and Italianate style design elements. It has a low hip roof pierced by two interior chimneys and a one-story kitchen wing. The house was expanded in 1961 by created a large meeting space at the front of the house for the Greensboro Woman's Club. The house may have been built from a plan provided by the well-known New York architect Alexander Jackson Davis.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Michael Sherwood House is a historic home located at Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. It was built between 1849 and 1851, and is a two-story, three bay by two bay, Greek Revival style brick dwelling with an original, one-story rear brick wing. Later additions include a second story to the rear wing, a curious stair tower and several rooms, and a full-height front portico with Roman Doric order columns.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The L. Richardson Preyer Federal Building is a courthouse of the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. It was completed in 1933, and was renamed in honor of United States Representative and District Court judge L. Richardson Preyer in 1988. It is located at 324 West Market Street. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

West Market Street United Methodist Church (WMSUMC) is one of the oldest churches in Greensboro, North Carolina, and is over 190 years old; WMSUMC is located in downtown Greensboro across from the courthouse. It is a relatively large church with approximately 1700 members, though not all are active. The current sanctuary was constructed between 1893 and 1898; it was the third sanctuary built by the congregation. Today, the church has expanded, with a larger educational complex adjacent to the sanctuary, and other properties, including an Early Childhood Center, held at nearby. The Senior Pastor is the Reverend Beth Crissman, with Associate Pastor the Reverend Jeremy Benton.

The Weatherspoon Art Museum is located at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is one of the largest collections of modern and contemporary art in the southeast with a focus on American art. Its programming includes fifteen or more exhibitions per year, year-round educational activities, and scholarly publications. The Weatherspoon Art Museum was accredited by the American Alliance of Museums in 1995 and earned reaccreditation status in 2005.

Guilford County Courthouse is a historic courthouse building located at Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Harry Barton and built between 1918 and 1920. It is a five-story, rectangular Renaissance Revival building. It has a rusticated raised basement, fluted Ionic pilasters on the upper three stories, a stone balustrade, and a shallow pedimented hexastyle portico. It served as the courthouse until 1974 when it became part of the county complex which combines the old and new courthouses as the center of county government.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

First National Bank Field is a Minor League Baseball park located in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina. The home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the High-A East, it opened on April 3, 2005. The park is on the block bounded by Bellemeade, Edgeworth, Smith, and Eugene Streets. The stadium's seating capacity is 7,499 people, 5,300 of which are chair-back seats. The stadium was built to Double-A standards and has room for future expansion. In 2017, the Grasshoppers had the best average attendance in the South Atlantic League and the highest total attendance in the league.
