Swinefleet Warping Drain is an artificial waterway in the English county of the East Riding of Yorkshire, which was built to allow silt to be deposited on the peat moors, but now functions as a land drainage channel. It was constructed by Ralph Creyke, and the first section was completed in 1821.

Goole Fields is a civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) south-west of Goole town centre and lies at both sides but mainly south of the A161 road (Swinefleet Road), covering an area of 1,980.59 hectares (4,894.1 acres). It is bordered to the east by the Swinefleet Warping Drain, to the south by the Blackwater Dike, and to the west by the railway line from Goole to Doncaster.

Crowle Peatland Railway is a fledgling railway museum based on the peat moors at Crowle in North Lincolnshire, England.

Swinefleet is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) south-east of the town of Goole on the A161 road from Goole to Crowle. It lies on the south bank of the River Ouse. According to the 2011 UK census, Swinefleet parish had a population of 787, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 748. The main centre of population is at the extreme north of the parish, close to the River Ouse. The southern part of the parish is part of Swinefleet and Reedness Moors, and is characterised by drainage ditches and a few farm buildings.A local bus company, known as Sweyne Coaches is based in Swinefleet. They used to run public services between Scunthorpe and Goole but still do school services for Goole High School and the Holy Family Catholic High School in Carlton, and private hire services. The public services have been taken over by East Yorkshire Motor Service in 2015. It is also home to the Swinefleet Peat Works, which is now derelict.

Crowle North railway station, officially known as Crowle railway station, was a station that served the market town of Crowle, on the Isle of Axholme in Lincolnshire, England on the Axholme Joint Railway. The North designation was used to avoid confusion with Crowle railway station on a neighbouring line. The station was opened on 10 August 1903. Originally it was the terminus of the line from Goole, until the section onward to Haxey Junction was opened for goods on 14 November 1904, and to passengers on 2 January 1905. The station closed with the end of passenger services on the line on 17 July 1933, Although the line remained open to goods traffic until 1965. Until 1972 the line through Crowle to Belton was operated as 'a long siding' to facilitate access for heavy loads to Keadby Power Station. This was the Station Master's House and Booking Office for Crowle on the Axholme Joint Railway, a light railway that ran the length of the Isle of Axholme. The booking office was situated in the low single storey wooden extension and its interior has been preserved The station had two low platforms, a passing loop and a small goods yard with a public weighbridge.

The River Don (also called River Dun in some stretches) is a river in South Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It rises in the Pennines, west of Dunford Bridge, and flows for 69 miles (111 km) eastwards, through the Don Valley, via Penistone, Sheffield, Rotherham, Mexborough, Conisbrough, Doncaster and Stainforth. It originally joined the Trent, but was re-engineered by Cornelius Vermuyden as the Dutch River in the 1620s, and now joins the River Ouse at Goole. Don Valley is a UK parliamentary constituency near the Doncaster stretch of the river.

The Crowle Stone is the remains of an Anglo-Saxon cross at the back of the Church of England parish church of St Oswald at Crowle, Lincolnshire.This was originally carved as a cross shaft and until 1919 it was used as a lintel over the west door. The preservation of the stone is almost certainly as a result of the Norman masons reusing it when the church was built in 1150.The stone measures 6 ft 11 in (2.11 m) in height 16 in (410 mm) thick and 8.5 in (220 mm) wide. The stone is ornately carved on all three sides. At the bottom of one face there is a runic inscription which would date the cross shaft as being before 950 as the use of runes had almost completely died out by then.

Crowle is a market town in the civil parish of Crowle and Ealand, on the Isle of Axholme in the North Lincolnshire unitary authority of Lincolnshire, England. The civil parish had a population at the 2011 census of 4,828. The town lies on the Stainforth and Keadby Canal. Notable buildings in the town include the parish church, in which can be seen the Crowle Stone runic cross shaft, and the Gothic revival market hall.

Goole is a port town and civil parish on the River Ouse in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The town's historic county is the West Riding of Yorkshire. At the 2021 UK census, Goole parish had a population of 20,475. It is 16 miles (26 km) north-east of Doncaster, 19 miles (31 km) south of York and 29 miles (47 km) west of Hull. The town has the United Kingdom's furthest inland port, being about 50 miles (80 km) from the North Sea. It is capable of handling nearly 2 million tonnes of cargo per year, making it one of the most important ports on England's east coast. Goole is twinned with Złotów in Poland. Goole was informally twinned with Gibraltar in the 1960s; at that time, Gibraltar Court was named in Goole and Goole Court was named in Gibraltar.

The Port of Goole (also known as Goole Docks and The Port in Green Fields), is a maritime port at the mouth of the Aire and Calder Navigation where it feeds into the River Ouse, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The port opened in 1826, when the Aire and Calder Navigation was completed, connecting to the River Ouse at what is now the town of Goole. The port is one of the Humber Ports, associated with the waterway of the Humber Estuary and its tributaries, and is known to be Britain's largest inland port, being some 50 miles (80 km) from the open sea. It has good road and rail transport links, and deals with about £800 million worth of trade each year. Originally the port was in the West Riding of Yorkshire, but was transferred to Humberside in 1974, then it was moved into the East Riding of Yorkshire in 1996.

St John's Church or the Church of St John the Evangelist is an active parish church in the town of Goole, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was built between 1843 and 1848 in the Gothic Revival style and has been an active place of worship for Christians since. The church is located on Church Street, near to the town centre and port; it is the main parish church of the town. It is a grade I listed building.

The Borough of Boothferry was, from 1 April 1974 to 1 April 1996, a local government district with borough status within the non-metropolitan county of Humberside. The district is now split between the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. The borough was formed from parts of three administrative counties: from the West Riding of Yorkshire came the former borough of Goole and Goole Rural District, from the East Riding of Yorkshire came Howden Rural District and from Lincolnshire, Parts of Lindsey came Isle of Axholme Rural District. The district was named after the village of Boothferry, site of a bridge over the River Ouse, near the centre of the borough. The council established its headquarters at Bank Chambers in the centre of Goole.
