Deepcar

Green Moor is a small hamlet in South Yorkshire, England, in the parish of Hunshelf and close to Penistone and Oxspring. Green Moor used to be a stone quarry in the last century but has since become a predominantly commuter and retirement village. Green Moor is also the site of activity centre used by the Sheffield and District Boys' Brigade Battalion.

The Little Don River also known as the Porter, is a tributary of the River Don in South Yorkshire, England. Arising on the Langsett Moors in the northern Peak District, the Little Don River feeds the Langsett and Underbank Reservoirs. It runs through the town of Stocksbridge before joining the River Don. A 2.7-acre (1.1-hectare) section of the river has been designated as a site of special scientific interest since 1977. The site is of considerable importance as it is a proposed reference example for various subdivisions of the Carboniferous. It is one of 35 sites of special scientific interest in South Yorkshire.

Deepcar railway station, originally "Deep Car", is a disused railway station near Deepcar, South Yorkshire, England. The station, situated on the line built by the Sheffield, Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester Railway, opened on 14 July 1845. The station was located between Oughtibridge and Wortley and was intended to serve the village of Deepcar, near Sheffield, South Yorkshire. In 1899 the route became part of the Great Central Railway main line from London Marylebone to Manchester. The station was built with two flanking platforms, the main station building being on the Manchester-bound side with a waiting shelter on the other. In the 1870s a short branch line was constructed to serve the Stocksbridge steel works of Samuel Fox and Company. This line ran from the west end of Deepcar station to a set of sidings, where traffic was exchanged with the Stocksbridge Railway. At the west end of the station, to the rear of the main line platform, there was a short bay known as the Stocksbridge platform from where passenger trains to the station at Stocksbridge (also known as Stocksbridge platform) departed. This service, which commenced in 1877, ceased in 1931. The station closed to passenger traffic on 15 June 1959. The line, albeit single track from Woodburn Junction, is still open to serve the steel works, now operated by the speciality steels division of Liberty House Group. Traffic to this location usually runs at night.

More Hall Reservoir is a reservoir located in the Ewden valley near Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The reservoir is situated to the south of Bolsterstone and is linked to the Broomhead Reservoir to the west.Carr House Meadows, a local nature reserve borders the reservoir to the south.

Firth Wood is a woodland in South Yorkshire, England, near the village of Oughtibridge. It covers a total area of 16.9 acres (6.84 ha). It is owned and managed by the Woodland Trust.

Stocksbridge Park Steels Football Club is an English association football club based in Stocksbridge, South Yorkshire. They currently compete in the Northern Premier League Division One East. The club was formed in 1986 after a merger between two clubs, and uses a yellow and blue home kit. They play at the Bracken Moor ground. England international Jamie Vardy and Republic of Ireland international Scott Hogan have played for the team. They initially played in the Northern Counties East League and progressed through the NCEL's divisions before winning promotion to Division One of the Northern Premier League (NPL) in 1996. They reached the Premier Division of the NPL in 2009, but were relegated back to Division One South in 2014. Steels have participated in the FA Cup every year since 1992, reaching the 4th qualifying round in 2003, and first entered the FA Trophy in 1996 after previously participating in the FA Vase.

Stocksbridge is a town and civil parish, in the City of Sheffield, in South Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies just to the east of the Peak District. The town is located in the steep-sided valley of the Little Don River, below the Underbank Reservoir. It blends into the areas of Deepcar, Bolsterstone and the eastern end of Ewden valley around Ewden village, which are also within the civil parish. The population of the civil parish as of the 2011 census was 13,455.

Wharncliffe Crags is a gritstone escarpment or edge situated approximately 6 miles (10 km) north-west of the city of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England. It is a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Stocksbridge Town Hall is a municipal building in Manchester Road in Stocksbridge, a town in South Yorkshire in England. The town hall, which was previously the offices and meeting place of Stocksbridge Urban District Council, is now the home of Stocksbridge Town Council as well as other community organisations.

Stocksbridge was a small railway halt, the terminus of, and only railway station on the Stocksbridge Railway. The platform was a simple wooden affair, nothing more was needed to cater for the service provided. The passenger service, which ran from a west facing bay platform at Deepcar, on the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railways Woodhead Line, commenced operation on 14 April 1877 and ceased in 1931. Operation was undertaken by the Stocksbridge Railway Company who bought two small coaches for the trains, utilising their own locomotive. In the main, passengers consisted of workers going to Samuel Fox and Company's works and school children.

Brightholmlee is a small rural hamlet situated within the City of Sheffield in England. The hamlet falls within the Stannington Ward of the City. It is located 6.2 miles (10 km) north-west of the city centre and 0.6 miles (1 km) west of Wharncliffe Side within Bradfield Parish. Previously a farming community, it consist of four farmsteads, Manor Farm, Old Hall Farm, High Lea Farm and Lee Farm. It is now almost entirely residential with the last working farm being sold for development in 2013.

Wortley railway station was a railway station on the Sheffield, Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester Railway lying between Deepcar and Penistone. It was built to serve the village of Wortley, in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. Wortley Hall, near the village, was the home of the Earl of Wharncliffe, long time associated with railway development in the area. The station was similar to the others which opened with the line, with flanking platforms, slightly askew and linked by a footbridge, and a main, stone-built structure with canopy, on the Sheffield-bound platform. Because of its proximity to Wortley Hall the station had a private waiting room for the use of the Earl of Wharncliffe, his family and visitors. The station, opened on 14 July 1845, was closed on 2 May 1955.
