Apátistvánfalva

St. Stephen Harding Church in Apátistvánfalva or Apátistvánfalvian Church (Hungarian: Apátistvánfalvai Harding Szent István templom, Slovene: Cerkev Svetega Štefana v Števanovci Prekmurje Slovene: Števanovska cerkev Svétoga Števana Hardinga) is a Baroque Roman Catholic Church in the village of Apátistvánfalva (Števanovci), Hungary. It is near the Hungarian-Slovenian border, in the Vendvidék region. Its patron saint Stephen Harding was an English saint and the founder of the Cistercian Order. Because this area is traditionally ethnically Slovenian, mass was offered only in Prekmurje Slovenian. Today, mass is shown in Hungarian and the local Prekmurje Slovenian dialect.

There is a simple two-storey belfry in the southeastern part of the settlement, opposite the cemetery. It dates to the first half of the 20th century.

The original parts of the church date to 1331, but it was expanded in the 16th century and in the late 18th century. It has a rectangular nave with a Gothic sanctuary and a belfry on its western facade.

Markovci (pronounced [ˈmaːɾkɔu̯tsi]; Hungarian: Marokrét) is a village in the Municipality of Šalovci in the Prekmurje region of Slovenia. The parish church west of the settlement is dedicated to the Visitation of the Virgin and belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Murska Sobota. It was originally built in 1644 but totally rebuilt in 1884 after a fire destroyed the old church. Only the belfry remains of the original church.
