Watton railway station

Watton is a market town in the district of Breckland in the English county of Norfolk, about 25 miles (40 km) west-southwest of Norwich and 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Thetford. The annual Wayland Agricultural Show in its west is one of the oldest one-day such shows in England.

Wayland Hall, also known as Watton Town Hall, is a community events venue in Middle Street, Watton, Norfolk, England: the structure, which also accommodates a local history museum, is a grade II listed building.

Loch Neaton is a freshwater lake near Watton in Norfolk, England. It was created after earth was excavated in 1875 to create a mile long embankment for the extension to Swaffham of the Thetford to Watton railway station. Local businessmen saw the potential of creating a leisure park in the area, with a tennis court, bowling green and bandstand. The excavated area was filled with water to create a lake for swimming, boating and fishing. In honor of the railway labourers that created the excavation, who were mainly Scottish, the lake was called a Loch.

Wayland Wood is a 31.7-hectare (78-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near to Watton in Norfolk. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2, and it is managed by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust

Watton United Football Club is an English football club based in Watton, Norfolk. The club are currently members of the Anglian Combination Division One and play at Watton Sports Centre.

Wayland Academy (formerly Wayland Community High School) is a small mixed secondary school located in Watton in the English county of Norfolk. It is part of the Inspiration Trust, having been part of the Transforming Education in Norfolk Trust group of schools until January 2020.

Ovington is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 6.44 km2 (2.49 sq mi) and had a population of 239 in 92 households at the 2001 census, increasing to a population of 256 in 101 households at the 2011 Census. It is in the district of Breckland. Ovington is represented by the Saham Toney ward of Breckland District Council and the Watton Division of Norfolk County Council.

HM Prison Wayland is a Category C men's prison, located near the village of Griston in Norfolk, England. The prison is operated by His Majesty's Prison Service.

Merton is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 5.94 km2 (2.29 sq mi) and had a population of 113 in 50 households at the 2001 census, increasing to a population of 133 in 56 households at the 2011 census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Breckland. The villages name means 'Pool farm/settlement'.Merton Hall is the home of Lord Walsingham. Its church, St Peter's, is one of 124 existing round-tower churches in Norfolk and is a Grade I listed building.

Griston is a village and civil parish in the Wayland area of the Breckland district within the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 5.62 km2 (2.17 sq mi) and had a population of 1,206 in 206 households at the 2001 census, increasing to a population of 1,540 in 246 households at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Breckland. It has a church in the name of St. Peter and St. Paul, a pub 'The Waggon And Horses', an elderly home 'Thorp House', a day care centre for the elderly, it hosts part of the RAF Watton wartime airfield (now belonging to the USAAF), and the category C Wayland (HM Prison). It lies between the town Watton, Norfolk, where the nearest high school is Wayland Academy and a fellow Wayland village of Caston, where the nearest primary school is Caston CE VA Primary School.

Saham Toney is a village and a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. The village is 14.5 miles (23.3 km) north of Thetford, 27.3 miles (43.9 km) west of Norwich and 101 miles (163 km) north-east of London. The village lies 13.1 miles (21.1 km) west of the town of Attleborough. The nearest railway station is at Attleborough for the Breckland Line which runs between Cambridge and Norwich. The nearest airport is Norwich International Airport. The civil parish has an area of 16.51 km2 (6.37 sq mi) and in 2001 had a population of 1,565 in 680 households, reducing to 1,507 in 679 households at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of Breckland.[2]

The Old Manor is a Grade II listed building, which stands in Pages Lane/Page's Place in the Norfolk village of Saham Toney. The building was owned by Edward Goffe of Threxton, who died in 1612, and who is buried at Saham Toney. He left the building to his son. Edward Goffe founded the local school, where a plaque was erected in his name. There are almshouses, founded by Edward Goffe. The beautiful stained glass window was made in Norwich Cathedral and originally came from St Marys church in Great Cressingham.
