Gmina Bukowina Tatrzańska

Bukowina Tatrzańska [bukɔˈvina taˈtʂaɲska], (Slovak: Tatranská Bukovina) is a village in Tatra County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland, close to the border with Slovakia. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Bukowina Tatrzańska. It lies approximately 14 kilometres (9 mi) north-east of Zakopane and 80 km (50 mi) south of the regional capital Kraków. Bukowina Tatrzańska is a popular destination for the Tour de Pologne, having served as the finishing point for stages several times, most recently in the 2014 edition of the race.In the village there are several historic wooden guesthouses from the Interbellum Period built in the Zakopane Style architecture including the Cultural Centre which is ranked among the biggest wooden buildings in Poland. The village also hosts the annual Polish folklore festival Sabałowe Bajania.

The village has a few small stores along with a church and elementary school. It is very rural, with most of the residents owning animals and having small farms. The nearest city is Nowy Targ, where most of the residents do their shopping and where students go to for high school.

Beginning in the 16th century it was being mentioned in documents as Trepsia or Trepschya.The biggest landmark in the village is a wooden church from the 16th century. Dedicated to St. Elisabeth of Hungary, inside polychromes represent the Catholic saints and scenes from the Bible. Dating back to 1647, they were laid out by the parish priest Jan Ratulowski of Frydman, but their author remains unknown.

Obłazowa Cave is a cave situated in the nature reserve of Przełom Białki at Nowa Biała near Krempachy, Gmina Nowy Targ in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, southern Poland. The cave has a 9 m long chamber to which a short corridor leads. It is one of the most important Paleolithic sites in Poland.

It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) south-east of Poronin, 7 km (4 mi) east of Zakopane, and 84 km (52 mi) south of the regional capital Kraków.The village name came from the merging of the names of two settlements: Mur and Zasichle. The village is a part of the Podhale region and is inhabited by Gorals.
