Musbury Castle

Musbury is a village and civil parish in the East Devon district of Devon, England. It lies approximately 2 miles (3 km) away from Colyton and 2+1⁄2 miles (4 km) away from Axminster, the nearest towns. Musbury is served by the A358 road and lies on the route of the East Devon Way, a 40-mile (64 km) footpath following the Axe Valley. The village is within the East Devon Area of Natural Beauty. It has a post office, primary school, public house, fuel station and church. The parish population at the 2011 census was 543.

Combpyne is a hamlet in East Devon, England, off the A3052 road between Colyford and Lyme Regis in Dorset. Combpyne is situated within a remote Devon combe, and features a medieval manor house, a 12th-century church housing wall paintings and ancient bells and a village pond known as 'The Harbour'. It is in a parish that also includes the village of Rousdon to the south. The former railway station at Combpyne was a part of the Lyme Regis branch line and closed in 1965, along with many other small branch lines across the county. Traces of the dismantled railway, including the large Cannington Viaduct, can be seen nearby. The former stationmaster's house is now a private residence.

Abbey Gate is a hamlet just south of Axminster in Devon, England. Abbey Gate is at the junction between the A35 and A358 main roads, just west of Wyke.Abbey Gate is in a very rural area and has almost no residential infrastructure, only consisting of a farm and a carpet factory. Abbey Gate has a bus stop is served by the local bus route 885. Much of a smaller hamlet called Archway House is within Abbey Gate and has many of its buildings within it.Abbey Gate is the site of Newham Abbey, whence it takes its name. Abbey Gate has a camping and caravanning site.

Combpyne Rousdon is a civil parish in the East Devon district of the county of Devon in England. As well as the villages of Combpyne and Rousdon, it contains the hamlet of Pinhay. In the 2001 UK census its population was recorded as 231 persons, living in 88 households, increasing to 362 in the 2011 Census.

Combpyne railway station was the intermediate station on the Lyme Regis branch line in East Devon, England. Serving the village of Combpyne, it was sited high on the sharp bend that changed the course of the line from south to an easterly direction.

Rousdon is a village in East Devon off the A3052 road between Colyford and Lyme Regis in Dorset. The clifftop but well set back village developed as the main settlement, within its ecclesiastical parish Combpyne, which otherwise has only a few houses by its church and scattered farms. It did so north of Sir Henry Peek's grand house, billiard house and separate stable courtyard chiefly in the early 19th century. A boarding school called Allhallows moved there from Honiton in 1937 and closed in 1998. Adjoining the small fields to the south are the coastal cliffs which lie above the Axmouth to Lyme Regis Undercliff Nature Reserve that forms part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. It is a green wilderness littoral forest strip with many rugged parts and ruins of farmhouses formed largely from a landslip (major cliff erosion) in 1839. The South West Coast Path crosses it for some miles. No public right of way links Rousdon directly, nor any adjacent area, to the path below along Charton Bay which links the foot of the Axe estuary south of Axmouth (at the western edge of Seaton Seaton to Ware, immediately south-west of Lyme Regis, on the Dorset border.

The lands common to Axminster and Kilmington civil parishes (also called the land common to Axminster Hamlets and Kilmington along with other similar variants) between Axminster and Kilmington are treated administratively as a civil parish of East Devon in their own right. 303 people live on the lands common to Axminster and Kilmington.

Stedcombe House is a country house in the civil parish of Axmouth, in the East Devon district, in the county of Devon, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. Richard Hallet purchased the estate in 1691 from Sir Walter Yonge, and built the house there in 1697.

Moridunum was a fort and small town in the Roman province of Britannia. Its remains are located at Woodbury Farm, immediately south of Axminster in the English county of Devon. The square fort was built at the intersection of two Roman roads, the Fosse Way and Durnovaria-Isca Dumnoniorum road, apparently in the 2nd century. Its ditch survives around much of the site. A civilian settlement soon grew up nearby, encouraged by the building of what has been interpreted as a large stone mansio for the provincial postal service. It was a centre for pottery production in the 3rd century and occupation continued until the end of the 4th.

St Mary at the Cross is a Church of England church in Whitford, Devon, England. It was built in 1908 and remains active as part of the Five Alive Mission Community.

Hawkesdown Hill is an Iron Age Hill fort close to Axmouth in Devon situated on a prominent hillside above the Axe Estuary. It is approximately 130 metres (430 ft) above sea level.
