University of Bielsko-Biała

Mikuszowice (German: Nikelsdorf) is an informal dzielnica (district) of Bielsko-Biała, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. It is located in the southern part of the city on both banks of the Biała River, the historical border river between Silesia and Lesser Poland; and from the mid-15th century to 1772, also the states of Poland and Bohemia (from 1526 part of the Habsburg monarchy). Administratively there are two osiedla (a form of districts), which have a combined area of 16.3315 km2 (Mikuszowice Krakowskie: 3.8602 km2, Mikuszowice Śląskie: 12.4713 km2) and on December 31, 2006 had altogether 10,041 inhabitants (2,867 in Mikuszowice Krakowskie, 7,174 in Mikuszowice Śląskie).

Bystra [ˈbɨstra] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Wilkowice, within Bielsko County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. The village lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) north-west of Wilkowice, 8 km (5 mi) south of Bielsko-Biała, and 55 km (34 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice. The village is located in Silesian Beskids, alongside Bystra stream. The name of the village is of topographic origin borrowed from an older name of the Bystra stream (nominative bystry: fast, rapid).

The Bielsko-Biała Power Plant is a complex of coal-fired combined heat and power plants at Czechowice-Dziedzice near Bielsko-Biała, Poland. It has two principal flue gas stacks, 100 metres (330 ft) and 225 metres (738 ft) high, the latter of which is one of the tallest free standing structures in Poland. The complex is operated by Południowy Koncern Energetyczny, a subsidiary of the Tauron Group.

Stadion Miejski w Bielsku-Białej (English: Municipal Stadium in Bielsko-Biała) is a football stadium in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. It is the home ground of Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała (since 1999) and BKS Stal Bielsko-Biała. The stadium is also known as the Stadion Podbeskidzia Bielsko-Biała (English: Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała Stadium) in connection with its most common host. Sometimes the stadium is called Stadion BBOSiR (English: BBOSiR Stadium) after the facility operator, but in fact the above-mentioned name refers to the stadium at ul. Młyńska 52 in Bielsko-Biała.

Dębowiec Sports Arena (known in Poland as Hala Widowiskowo-Sportowa w Bielsku-Białej) is an indoor arena that is located in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. It is the home of the professional Polish Women's-Volleyball League club Aluprof Bielsko-Biała. The arena opened on September 2, 2010, and it has a seating capacity of 4,500.

Meszna [ˈmɛʂna] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Wilkowice, within Bielsko County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) south-west of Wilkowice, 10 km (6 mi) south of Bielsko-Biała, and 56 km (35 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice. The village lies on the slopes of Klimczok mountain.

The Teacher Training College of Bielsko-Biala (Kolegium Nauczycielskie w Bielsku-Białej) was an educational institution in Poland. It was established in 1991 continuing more than century-old traditions of teacher training in the city and region. It was the largest teacher training college in the country. The college was closed down on September 30, 2015. The college had five specialities: Polish language, science information and librarianship early education mathematics with informatics special education - rehabilitation pedagogy with elements of prevention special education - oligophrenopedagogyAll the education was done under the academic supervision of well-known universities: Jagiellonian University in Kraków (Polish: Uniwersytet Jagielloński) Pedagogical Academy in Kraków (Polish: Akademia Pedagogiczna w Krakowie) University of Silesia in Katowice (Polish: Uniwersytet Śląski) Jan Dlugosz Academy in Czestochowa (Polish: Akademia im. Jana Długosza w Częstochowie)Graduates were granted a college graduation diploma and BA (licencjat) degree awarded by either of the supervising universities. This allowed them to continue their MA studies there.

Gmina Wilkowice is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Bielsko County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Wilkowice, which lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) south of Bielsko-Biała and 55 km (34 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice. The gmina also contains the villages of Bystra and Meszna. The gmina covers an area of 33.9 square kilometres (13.1 sq mi), and as of 2019 its total population is 13,409.

The Museum of Technology and Textile Industry - a branch of the Museum in Bielsko-Biała, Poland - was founded on January 1, 1979 with the aim of evidencing the traditions of the local wool industry centre by means of collecting machines, devices and documents related to this field of production. Apart from this the Museum also exhibits items connected with firefighting, printing and metal machine industry. The Museum occupies some parts of the Büttners' former cloth factory, which used to be one of the biggest textile factories in Bielsko.

Straconka (German: Dresseldorf) is an osiedle (district) of Bielsko-Biała, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. The osiedle has an area of 5.8455 km2 and on December 31, 2006, had 3,149 inhabitants.It is located in the south-east part of the city, in the valley of the Straconka stream, on the western slopes of the Little Beskids.

The Saint Nicholas' Cathedral (Kościół katedralny św. Mikołaja) is the main Roman Catholic Church of the city of Bielsko-Biała, in the Silesian Voivodship, Poland. It overlooks the market square (Rynek). Founded between 1443 and 1447, it was almost completely rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century according to a design by Viennese architect Leopold Bauer. Another artist from Vienna, Rudolf Harflinger, designed the stained-glass windows. The city was in that time part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in the crownland Silesia. In 1992, the church became the cathedral of the newly created dioceses of Bielsko and Żywiec. The tower rises 61 meters above the city and is a landmark for the surrounding area. The organ (III/51) is a work from Rieger-Kloss, built in 1915.

The Duchy of Bielsko (German: freie Standesherrschaft Bielitz, Fürstentum Bielitz, Herzogtum Bielitz, Latin: status minores Bilicensis, status maiores Bilicensis, ducatus Bilicensis, Polish: księstwo bielskie,Czech: Bílské knížectví ) was one of the duchies of Silesia. It was created in 1572 out of the Duchy of Cieszyn as vassal of Bohemia and sold by Wenceslaus III Adam, Duke of Cieszyn to Charles Promnitz. Lately, in 1582 was sold to Adam Schaffgotsch, but ten years later was sold again to Sunnegh family. They in 1724 sold state country to Henry of Salm. In 1743 was county owned by Count Friedrich Wilhelm von Haugwitz and in 1751 its status was changed to status maiores, so it can send deputies to Silesian Assembly. In 1752, the State Country (Status Maiores) of Bielsko was purchased by Aleksander Józef Sulkowski. In that same year, the State Country was changed to the status of a lower principality (Fürstentum). On November 2, 1754, Queen Maria Theresa of Austria created the Principality of Bielsko (Herzogtum Bielitz). The next owners of the Principality of Bielsko had the right to the title of Herzog (Duke), during which time the remaining members of the family counted themselves amongst the lesser noble status of Fürst (Prince). The Principality was till 1849 as autonomous principality in Austrian Silesia. After the 1920 division of Cieszyn Silesia between Poland and Czechoslovakia it became a part of Poland. Its capital was in Bielsko, dukes were vassals of the King of Bohemia.
