East Valley School District encompasses approximately 100 sq mi (260 km2) in the City of Spokane Valley and areas of unincorporated Spokane County. The district boundaries extend from Butler Road in Spokane Valley east to the Idaho border, and from the Spokane River north to the foothills of Mount Spokane. The district operates six K-8 elementary schools; one comprehensive high school; an Enrichment Center that offers extensive early-childhood education, alternative education and special education; and a wide array of online learning programs that serve both residents of the area and many beyond. In addition, East Valley co-manages a vocational skills center with adjacent districts.

It is about 9.5 miles away from NorthTown Mall in Spokane which is the largest mall in Eastern Washington. The current anchors are JCPenney and Macy's, and it includes a Regal Cinemas with 12 screens. The mall opened in 1997 featuring Sears, JCPenney, and The Bon Marche.On November 7, 2019, it was announced that Sears would be closing this location a part of a plan to close 96 stores nationwide. The store closed in February 2020.

Valley Christian School is a private Christian school located in Spokane Valley, Washington, United States. The school was founded in 1974 located in the previous University High School in Spokane Valley. It is a non-denominational, non-profit 501C3 school, and is accredited by ACSI and NASC. It is approved by the State of Washington and enrolls students in grades PreK-12. The school promotes itself as providing a biblical worldview education for Christian families desiring a discipleship based Christian day school, and nearly 60 churches are represented in the families enrolled. The school maintains maximum class sizes of 25 in the elementary and 30 in the secondary, with an average class of 18 students.On July 27, 2017, the school purchased the old University building that it been leasing for ten years at a price of $4.41 million from the Central Valley School District.The school's most successful interscholastic competitive team is its Knowledge Bowl team, which frequently makes deep runs at the state tournament, including state championships in 2013 and 2022.

Trentwood joined the other unincorporated communities in the region to form the city of Spokane Valley in 2003.

University High School, often referred to as "U-Hi" or "U-High", is a public high school for grades nine through twelve in Spokane Valley, Washington, United States. It is part of the Central Valley School District in Spokane Valley. In late 2002, the school campus moved approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) to its current location. The current building is capable of housing around 1650 students. Because of the growing number of students attending, U-High is no longer accepting additional students, and many of the teachers must trade classrooms during the day.

Millwood is a city in Spokane County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,786 at the 2010 census. Millwood is a suburb of Spokane, and is surrounded on three sides by the city of Spokane Valley. The Spokane River flows along the northern edge of the city. The city is home to the National Register of Historic Places listed Millwood Historic District.

The Rosebush House in Millwood, Washington was designed by architect Harold C. Whitehouse and was built in 1923. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2000. According to its NRHP nomination, "is a landmark example of the French Eclectic architectural style and is one of the most unique properties in the Spokane area."When the Millwood Historic District was added to the NRHP in 2001, the Rosebush House was listed as a contributing property to the district.
