Dishman is a locale and former census-designated place (CDP) in Spokane County, Washington, United States. Founded by Addison T. Dishman (II), who operated a nearby rock quarry in 1889, its population was 10,031 at the 2000 census. Dishman has been part of Spokane Valley since 2003.

Dishman Hills Natural Resources Conservation Area is a 530-acre (210 ha) area protected by a combination of public and non-profit groups (Spokane County Parks and Recreation Department, Washington Department of Natural Resources, Inland Northwest Land Conservancy, and Dishman Hills Conservancy), located in Spokane County, Washington. The granite outcroppings, forming the bulk of the area, were originally formed 70 million years ago, by volcanic magma pushing up through the Earth's crust and then cooling. The protected Dishman Hills Natural Resources Conservation Area with its rugged, potholed appearance and deep gullies is a result of the Missoula Floods and represents one of the most ecologically diverse regions in Washington state, where forests, grasslands and shrublands converge and is within two ecoregions, the Okanagan and Northern Rockies ecoregions. The hills consist of small ravines, ponds, and large chunks of granite, that support an eco-system consisting mainly of ponderosa pine, as well as about 300 different flowering plants (including Indian Camas), and 73 different species of mushrooms. The area also supports wildlife, such as coyotes, marmots, white-tailed deer, pheasants, and dozens of species of butterflies. The Dishman Hills rise immediately south of the Dishman section of The City of Spokane Valley. Continuing south, out of the park, the elevation continues to rise to the Rocks of Sharon and the Iller Creek Conservation Area near the peak of Krell Hill.

University High School, often referred to as "U-Hi" or "U-High", is a public high school for grades nine through twelve in Spokane Valley, Washington, United States. It is part of the Central Valley School District in Spokane Valley. In late 2002, the school campus moved approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) to its current location. The current building is capable of housing around 1650 students. Because of the growing number of students attending, U-High is no longer accepting additional students, and many of the teachers must trade classrooms during the day.

West Valley School District (WVSD) is located in the city of Spokane Valley, Washington. The District has five elementary schools, two middle schools, and Three high schools, which include two non-traditional high schools. The grade configurations are K-5 in the elementary, 6–8 in the middle schools, and 9–12 in the high schools.

RiverCity Leadership Academy (also known as RLA) is a fully accredited high school in which students share common wilderness experiences, use applied technology, study under a group of teachers and create their own projects according to individual interests. RiverCity Leadership Academy is the first Project-based high school in Washington state to utilize this successful and revolutionary hands-on approach to learning developed by the EdVisions coop. Millwood is a city in Spokane County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,786 at the 2010 census. Millwood is a suburb of Spokane, and is surrounded on three sides by the city of Spokane Valley. The Spokane River flows along the northern edge of the city. The city is home to the National Register of Historic Places listed Millwood Historic District.

The Rosebush House in Millwood, Washington was designed by architect Harold C. Whitehouse and was built in 1923. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2000. According to its NRHP nomination, "is a landmark example of the French Eclectic architectural style and is one of the most unique properties in the Spokane area."When the Millwood Historic District was added to the NRHP in 2001, the Rosebush House was listed as a contributing property to the district.

West Valley High School is a public secondary school in Spokane Valley, Washington. It enrolls over 900 students in grades 9 through 12. The school colors are orange and black and the mascot is the eagles. As a Gates "Washington Achievers" grant high school, West Valley has started a mentor groups program. Staff members meet with small groups of students once a week to discuss issues in students' lives and connect with the students in the hopes that it will improve student experience and performance.

East Valley School District encompasses approximately 100 sq mi (260 km2) in the City of Spokane Valley and areas of unincorporated Spokane County. The district boundaries extend from Butler Road in Spokane Valley east to the Idaho border, and from the Spokane River north to the foothills of Mount Spokane. The district operates six K-8 elementary schools; one comprehensive high school; an Enrichment Center that offers extensive early-childhood education, alternative education and special education; and a wide array of online learning programs that serve both residents of the area and many beyond. In addition, East Valley co-manages a vocational skills center with adjacent districts.
